The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1452
Chapter 1452: Collecting evil treasures Chapter 1452: Collecting evil treasures “Live forever!” Cain’s eyes widened at Apex’s words.
He was still young, and the idea of a finite lifespan wasn’t something that had weighed heavily on him yet.
However, the notion of immortality-eternal life-stirred something deep within him.
The allure of living forever, of experiencing all the universe had to offer without the limits of time, was undeniably tempting.
But just as quickly, Apex shattered that fleeting thought with a dose of reality.
“I said some universes, brat.
Based on what I’ve seen of the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe, its Laws are so dense and unforgiving that even your Essence Evolution and Astral Rebirth paths won’t allow you to exist forever.” Cain let out a dry chuckle, a complicated smile spreading across his face.
While the notion of immortality intrigued him, he couldn’t deny the countless ways his life might end long before time itself became a factor.
There were far more immediate threats to worry about, and for now, those concerns overshadowed any longing for eternal existence.
Shrugging off the thought, Cain allowed himself to relax and resumed his journey toward the Gu Sect, this time at a more leisurely pace.
Unbeknownst to Cain, deep within his Soul Dimension, a golden humanoid figure stood before a massive gate adorned with chains that shimmered with otherworldly energy.
The figure wore a faint smile as it observed Cain’s thoughts.
“Those who lose themselves in the pursuit of immortality forget the purpose of cultivation altogether,” it mused.
“A longer lifespan is meant to be a reward-a gift to enjoy life-not an obsession that blinds one to everything else.” After several more days of travel, Cain finally glimpsed the towering structures of the Gu Sect in the distance.
Yet, instead of heading directly to its gates, his eyes scanned the horizon for a mountain.
Once he found a suitable one, he dove into the earth and burrowed to its core.
There, Cain stood still for several minutes, his body surrounded by a faint aura as he activated his Ego Wave.
It spread outward, covering the entire mountain as he placed layers of intricate seals around it.
Only when he was satisfied that everything was in place did he rise to the surface and continue his journey.
When Cain reached the Gu Sect, he noticed the tense atmosphere hanging over the grounds.
The paranoia was palpable, and it was clear that the looming Gu Contest was the cause.
The tension was thicker than when Cain had left, with the air practically crackling with unease.
Cain, however, ignored the anxiety radiating from the other cultivators.
He strode through the sect’s bustling grounds until he reached Lady Azure’s castle.
The guards, familiar with Cain by now, immediately recognized him.
Knowing his importance to Core Elder Azure, they wasted no time escorting him to the waiting room.
Within moments, the grand gates opened, and Cain stepped inside.
At the far end of the room stood Lady Azure, the imposing Anima Elder radiating authority.
She was seated behind a massive desk, her sharp eyes scrutinizing Cain as he approached.
After a moment of silence, a look of satisfaction crossed her face.

“Elder Laurifer, I must say, you are quite impressive,” she began, her tone measured.
“When I tasked you with taking down Alonz, Goldker, and Zafira, I must admit my expectations were… modest.
At most, I thought you’d manage one, perhaps two.
But all three are dead.
You’ve exceeded my expectations.” Cain offered a small smile and inclined his head.
“I can only take credit for Goldker and Zafira,” he replied.
“Alonz perished under the claws of a Deus Behemoth from the Golden Star Kingdom.” At the mention of Alonz, a sharp glint appeared in Lady Azure’s eyes.
“Ah, yes… Alonz.” Her gaze grew piercing as she continued.
“He fell under suspicious circumstances, much like someone else from my faction-Renan.
You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?” Cain met her gaze without hesitation, his eyes unwavering.
“Is Lady Azure accusing me of something?” Her eyes narrowed slightly, the weight of her scrutiny pressing down on him.
“I just find it odd,” she said slowly, “that a sudden blast of plasma struck Renan moments after you vanished from the battlefield.” For a moment, silence reigned as Lady Azure continued to stare at Cain, her expression unreadable.
Then, she relaxed and let out a small sigh.
“But I suppose you have nothing to do with it.
From what I learned, whoever went after Renan was a Law Master, an Essence Evolution Cultivator.” With that, Lady Azure waved her hand, and seven treasures appeared on the desk.
Each artifact radiated an aura of immense power, but their forms were twisted and malevolent-evil in their very essence.
Among them was a stained voodoo doll, a sphere filled with howling souls, and a dark pulsating heart.
Despite their vile nature, the sheer energy they exuded was undeniable.
“As promised, here is your reward for completing the task,” Lady Azure said.
Cain’s smile widened as he surveyed the treasures.
They were far more valuable than he had anticipated.
Without hesitation, he stored them in his space ring.
“You’ve proven yourself resourceful and capable of handling difficult tasks, Elder Laurifer,” Lady Azure continued.
“I’ll be contacting you again soon.” Understanding the dismissal, Cain offered a polite bow before turning and leaving the castle.
His next stop was the Gu Armory, where he retrieved a batch of evil treasures he had commissioned from Zoan.
While the initial payment he had left with Zoan covered part of the order, the Godslayer Human had exceeded expectations.
To cover things, Cain handed over an additional two hundred Spirit Cores without hesitation.
Though his wealth had taken a hit, the profits from the Golden Lake mission had more than replenished his reserves.
With his business concluded Cain finally returned to his residence.
The tension within the sect didn’t seem to bother him.
If anything, he appeared more relaxed than ever, as if the chaos around him was nothing more than a fleeting storm.
