The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1496
Chapter 1496: True enemies Chapter 1496: True enemies Elrick’s eyes brimmed with confusion as he stared at Cain, who stood before him with an emotionless gaze.
There was neither hostility nor satisfaction in that look-no flicker of anger or triumph.
It was as though killing Elrick meant nothing to him at all, like swatting away a fly.
With one swift motion, Cain tore the Spear of Doom from Elrick’s chest.
Blood spurted from the grievous wound, splattering across the floor and staining the surrounding ice.
The weapon had clearly pierced Elrick’s heart.
Before the mortally wounded man could even collapse, Cain pressed his palm against Elrick’s forehead, unleashing a concentrated blast of Ego Wave that shattered his mind.
Then, without a hint of hesitation, he stored the dying man in his spatial ring.
A stunned silence descended over the battlefield.
Both the Night Prince’s faction and the remnants of Lady Azure’s team were too shocked to react.
They had all witnessed Cain deal a decisive, lethal blow to Elrick.
Though it seemed Elrick still clung to a sliver of life when Cain stored him away, no one deluded themselves into believing he might survive.
The combined damage was simply too horrific, and not even a Third Realm life form could have mended such devastation.
The accusation bursting from the hearts of Auron, Mera, and the Deus Behemoth brothers was clear.
“Traitor!” Yet before they could fully process Cain’s betrayal, he moved again, faster than a striking serpent.
His gaze locked onto the nearest target-Auron-who had just defended an assault from another enemy.
Auron’s eyes widened in alarm as the Spear of Doom came hurtling toward him, a black blur crackling with lethal Star Power.
In a desperate bid to survive, Auron ignited his life force, gaining a temporary but exponential surge of strength.
He roared and swung a powerful blow at the golden-furred Deus Behemoth he had been fighting, knocking the creature aside long enough to meet Cain’s thrust head-on.
“BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!” A thunderous collision shook the dome as Auron’s fist clashed with the Spear of Doom.
Sparks of Fire and Gold Star Power blazed in the air, forcing both men backward. Gasping for breath, Auron tried to regain his stance, but the opportunity never came.
Diamon, the snow leopard-like Deus Behemoth, capitalized on Auron’s momentary lapse in balance.
With a savage roar, he heaved his ice-imbued axe, generating a chilling force that slammed into Auron’s hastily formed energy shield.
The impact threw Auron across the dome, bloodying his lips and rattling his internal organs.
Still reeling from the blow, Auron saw Cain materialize in midair above him.
The Spear of Doom glinted malevolently, aimed straight for Auron’s heart.
Summoning every last reserve of willpower, Auron twisted at the final second.
“ZNNNNNN!” The spear sank into his chest but not quite into his heart.
Auron gasped in agony, aware that he had narrowly avoided a fatal strike.
Though skewered, he was still alive-for the moment. Any relief he felt was short-lived because Diamon rushed forward yet again, gathering Soul Bloodline energy that froze the very space he stepped through.

The air around him crackled with cold as he raised his axe, prepared to finish off Auron on the spot.
Auron’s mind went blank with terror.
Everything seemed to slow: Diamon’s axe descending, the swirling flakes of ice around them, the coppery tang of blood on his tongue.
He braced himself for a final, fatal blow… At the very last second, Diamon’s gaze flickered away from Auron.
With an abrupt snarl, the Deus Behemoth shifted direction, swinging his axe not at the pinned Auron but at Cain’s unsuspecting back.
The razor-sharp blade cleaved through Cain’s torso, blood splattering in an arc as Diamon’s sudden blow cut him cleanly in two.
Everyone in the dome froze-Lady Azure’s forces, the Night Prince’s faction, even the battered Auron.
Shock rippled through them in waves.
A heartbeat earlier, Cain had sided with Diamon to kill Elrick and ambush Auron.
Yet, without any warning or visible provocation, Diamon had turned on Cain as if he were the real enemy.
For a moment, the entire battlefield seemed to hold its breath.
Cain’s bisected body collapsed onto the floor, blood pooling in a grisly scene that defied explanation.
No one could make sense of what they were seeing.
But the confusion only deepened.
The two halves of Cain’s body began to shimmer, cracks forming along his flesh as though it were made of glass.
In the space of a few heartbeats, Cain’s form disintegrated into streams of golden energy that curled and dissolved into the air.
“An illusion!” Diamon roared, his cold grin morphing into an expression of horror.
Before anyone else could react, a pained howl echoed from across the dome.
Diamon spun around and saw a tall figure clad in imposing dark armor-this person had slammed the golden lion Deus Behemoth’s head into the ground.
The armored figure outstretched his palm, making the Spear of Doom quiver.
Pulled free from Auron’s chest by some invisible force, it flew into the figure’s grip.
With a swift, merciless motion, the figure drove the spear through the back of the golden lion’s skull, ending his life instantly.
Diamon’s eyes went wide as he witnessed the Deus Behemoth’s death.
His mind raced, flooded with questions about Cain’s powers and illusions-yet one thought overrode all others.
His battlefield instincts took over, honed by countless wars and life-or-death struggles.
“Focus on that man.
Forget everything else!” Diamon thundered, pointing his axe toward the dark-armored figure.
Immediately, the warriors of the Night Prince’s faction obeyed.
Their predatory senses screamed at them; every instinct insisted that the armored figure was a threat unlike any they had faced.
In near unison, they abandoned their ongoing clashes with Lady Azure’s cultivators and charged directly at Cain.
Auron, still lying on the ground, clutched his bleeding chest and tried to make sense of what was happening.
Mera and the Deus Behemoth brothers-Soro and Koro-stood frozen a short distance away, similarly paralyzed by the chain of events.
In the span of only a few minutes, Cain had betrayed Elrick, nearly killed Auron, been “killed” by Diamon, and now reappeared in dark armor to slay one of Diamon’s strongest allies.
It was enough to make even the bravest of warriors hesitate.
As the Night Prince’s warriors converged upon him, Cain paid no heed to the stunned observers from Lady Azure’s faction.
Red flames danced in his eyes, and the air around him crackled with oppressive energy.
“HAAAAAAAH!” A roar tore from Cain’s throat as the power of his Laws and Star Power surged through his body.
In the blink of an eye, a torrent of Fallen Aura erupted around him, forming a majestic pillar that soared to the dome’s cracked ceiling.
The very ground shuddered beneath his feet, and the air itself seemed to bend in response to his might.
