The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1498
Chapter 1498: One vs eight Chapter 1498: One vs eight “Isn’t it obvious?
I killed them.” Those chilling words sent a ripple of shock through the dome.
Diamon’s eyes widened, and he frantically scanned the room, searching every corner for any sign of the fiery brother and sister.
Yet they were nowhere to be seen, and he could not refute Cain’s words.
Cain spoke again, his voice echoing off the dome’s cracked walls.
“You really should be more careful with your commands.
When you told them to stop attacking me-when you allowed me to move around freely-they lowered their guard.
That was all I needed to strike them down.” He delivered the explanation with a sense of satisfaction, seeking to weaken the resolve and confidence of the Night Prince’s warriors.
In truth, killing the siblings had been anything but simple.
Cain had unleashed the full might of his dual cultivation, caught them by surprise, and even then he’d been forced to burn nearly ten percent of his life force to finish them quickly.
But of course, Diamon knew none of this.
The Deus Behemoth clenched his teeth, rage burning in his eyes as he roared.
“Why would you do that!?” While now the question was foolish, it was not back then.
Only a few minutes earlier, the fiery siblings and Cain were supposed to be on the same side, united under the Night Prince’s banner.
But Cain merely shrugged, mockery dancing in his gaze.
“I must admit the Night Prince did an excellent job of concealing his intentions for me,” Cain said, his tone laced with dark amusement.
A thoughtful spark flared in his eyes as he recalled the many ways the Night Prince had kept his distance-never meeting Cain in person.
It was almost as if the Night Prince had known Cain would see through any attempt at deception if they met face-to-face.
Shaking off the memory, Cain continued, “And you played your part well, Diamon-never openly glaring at me, always concealing your true intent.
Unfortunately for you, it was painfully obvious that you were hiding something.” Diamon’s face contorted with anger.
“So just because I behaved ‘oddly,’ you murdered those two!?” The Deus Behemoth’s voice cracked with fury.
Cain let out a quiet chuckle, casually shaking his head.
“I intended to kill all of you from the start.
You see, just as the Night Prince wanted me dead, I also decided that I would end all the warriors he sent to the tomb.
Things may have gotten a little out of hand, but things are going as expected in the end.” A cold shiver ran down Diamon’s spine as he processed Cain’s words.
‘No wonder the Night Prince wanted him eliminated,’ he thought.
‘This man is too dangerous.
Impossible to control.’ That realization deepened Diamon’s dread.
He glanced at his remaining warriors, noting the apprehension etched on their faces.
Cain had already killed three of them-nearly half of their group.

The rest were less than confident now.
Morale was wavering, and Diamon knew that a loss of resolve could prove fatal against an opponent as cunning as Cain.
Even so, Diamon refused to surrender to fear.
His eyes narrowed thoughtfully, and a new plan formed in his mind.
He spun toward the survivors of Lady Azure’s faction, who had retreated to a safer corner after suffering heavy casualties themselves. “Help us take him down,” Diamon demanded, his voice resounding with urgency and authority.
“I swear on my honor that if you do, I will not harm you-and I will let you leave this tomb alive.” Mera and the Deus Behemoth brothers, Soro and Koro, exchanged uneasy glances.
They were battered and exhausted.
Before they could even consider Diamon’s offer, Cain cut in with a mocking laugh.
“Hah!
Trusting a member of the Gu Sect to keep his word?
It’s like relying on a breeze to cushion your fall-a fool’s errand.” A scowl formed on the trio’s faces.
No matter how much they despised Cain for his treachery, they had to admit he had a point.
The Gu Sect was notorious for its deception, manipulation, and cutthroat politics.
Their concept of ‘honor’ was often a hollow promise used merely to gain advantage.
“And besides,” Cain went on, “if you stand aside, you might keep your strength intact, then kill whoever emerges the victor in our battle.
Isn’t that the wisest course for you?” His words fanned the flames of hesitation and doubt in Mera, Soro, and Koro.
They had no reason to trust Diamon-or Cain.
Both sides had proven ruthless.
Perhaps waiting to see who survived and then seizing the opportunity was the safer option.
Yet Auron, who was leaning against a jagged piece of broken stone, gasping for breath, found the strength to speak up.
Blood trickled from the gaping hole in his chest.
“If we do nothing, that man”-he jabbed a trembling finger at Cain-“will kill us as well.
Our only real chance to survive is to bring him down-then test our luck with Diamon.” Mera, Soro, and Koro locked eyes with Auron.
His determination, even as he bled profusely, sparked a new sense of resolve in them.
Though they despised working with Diamon’s faction, the alternative was allowing Cain-a man who had betrayed and slaughtered friend and foe alike-to continue running rampant.
Slowly, they moved forward, eyes steeled with resolve, aligning themselves alongside Diamon’s warriors.
Their combined forces formed a loose semicircle around Cain, each one bristling with killing intent.
It was a stunning development, two enemy factions setting aside their mutual hatred for the sake of surviving this deadly conflict. From Cain’s perspective, however, this was hardly an occasion to be impressed.
He simply stared at the assembled alliance of eight cultivators glaring at him like a pack of wolves.
“Well, brat, you wanted challenges that could push your limits.
Here they are, lined up in front of you.” The voice of Apex’s echoed inside his mind the next second.
Cain felt a small smile tug at his lips as he watched his opponents gather their strength.
Taking a deep breath, he steadied his grip on the Spear of Doom. “Let’s do it!” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Redsunworld Special shoutout to Jayscribe.
