Chapter 1576: Diving like a meteorite
The old Anima paid no heed to the fears of her soldiers. Her entire existence—heart, mind, and soul—remained fixated on a single goal: destroying the young man before her, even if it cost her own life.
Such fanatical devotion made little sense, especially for a faction leader in the Gu Contest. After all, what would be the point of defeating Cain if she perished in the process? Yet Lady Azure seemed beyond such pragmatic concerns; her only thought was the utter downfall of the Monster.
Her voice rang out, harsh and commanding, slicing through the undersea battlefield like a cracked whip. “What are you waiting for? He’s paralyzed—he can’t move! Attack with everything you have! If he survives, you all will die!”
Though her bellow targeted her soldiers, Lady Azure never once shifted her gaze from Cain. She continually channeled streams of power from the underwater city’s towers into her soul strike spell, pushing herself closer to a cataclysmic threshold.
The Divine Transcendence cultivators, momentarily stunned by the monstrous spectacle, were jolted back to reality by Lady Azure’s words. Resentment flickered in their eyes—they knew they were being used as pawns. And yet, in this life-and-death scenario, they had no choice but to obey.
A downpour of spells and attacks imbued with Star Power rained upon Cain. From the outside, it appeared like a relentless storm, each projectile streaking through the water and illuminating the seabed with flashes of arcane brilliance.
Agony twisted Cain’s features. Although most of these attacks failed to inflict meaningful wounds on his robust defenses, he couldn’t retaliate. The mental pain inflicted by Lady Azure’s soul strike was too overwhelming, draining his focus and forcing him to remain on the defensive.
Gradually, even his iron-hard physique began to show signs of strain.
“Damn it!” he cursed in his mind, struggling to fight back.
The source of his torment was the spell Lady Azure had unleashed: Requiem of the Forgotten.
A brutally direct soul assault, it generated invisible nails of pure soul force that pierced into Cain’s consciousness, causing excruciating, blinding agony.
If Cain’s Ego Eternal Path had been fully active, his Ego Wave could have counteracted this type of attack. But with his Alter-Ego sealed, he had to rely solely on his raw soul force.
Though exceptionally refined, Cain’s soul force was still at the early Divine Transcendence Rank—impressive, but not enough against an expertly executed soul technique.
Had Lady Azure chosen a soul invasion spell, Apex would have taken care of things. But, ironically, she was too cautious, ensuring he couldn’t twist her attack to his advantage.
Right now, neither Apex nor the Absolute Life Form Systesm could help him get out of this ordeal, but luckily, they were not the only ones who stood by his side.
The Sky Sovereign, standing on the Soul Dimension with solemn determination, began weaving intricate runes. Each symbol flared with power, drifting through the dimension before vanishing into Cain’s consciousness.
“Boy, I will send this layer into your brain,” the Sky Sovereign’s voice echoed in Cain’s mind. “It will create a shield that protects you for five seconds. After that, the spell will resume. Her technique is locked onto your soul—you can’t outrun it. Whatever you do, act quickly!”
He said no more.
The runes glowed once, then sank into the depths of Cain’s spiritual dimension.
Instantly, the searing pain vanished.
It was as though fresh air flooded a drowning man’s lungs. Cain’s eyes snapped open with renewed clarity.
Five seconds.
He had no time to waste.
With the mental agony lifted, even if only for a short span, Cain tightened his grip on the Shooting Star Dragon Halberd.
He whirled in a deadly arc, the blade slicing through the ranks of Astral Rebirth cultivators who had dared to approach him in close combat.
Their halved corpses drifted through the water, leaving horrified expressions on the faces of those who remained.
Shock rippled among the enemy lines, and countless eyes turned to Lady Azure with anger and betrayal. She had promised them he was paralyzed, yet he moved with lethal precision.
Lady Azure felt her stomach sink. She sensed her soul strike still latched to Cain’s consciousness, but something was blocking it from delivering further torment.
Whatever shield was holding her spell at bay, Cain wasn’t about to explain.
He vanished in a streak of blinding speed, rushing up for two seconds before suddenly reversing direction.

“SHOOTING STAR DRAGON DIVE!”
His roar thundered through the ocean. Soul force and life force ignited around his halberd, merging with the Laws and Star Power swirling around him.
Cain lunged from above, diving toward Lady Azure like a world-killing meteorite.
From her vantage point, the old Anima clenched her teeth upon seeing Cain find a way to break free, a flicker of indecipherable emotion crossing her eyes—perhaps some memory from her past.
Yet she remained steadfast, refusing to waver.
While maintaining Requiem of the Forgotten, she channeled even more energy from the underwater city to form a towering shield in front of her.
‘Just a few more seconds… and the spell will resume.’ She thought, bracing against the onslaught. All she had to do was endure this attack, and Cain’s mind would soon be shredded by her soul nails.
Cain descended in a flash of brilliance. Lady Azure stood ready to absorb the blow with her shield, fully intending to kill him once the soul strike resumed.
At the last instant, Cain twisted his entire body, redirecting the full force of his momentum—not into Lady Azure—But toward the underwater city’s protective barrier!
“No—STOP HIM!”
Lady Azure’s scream tore through the water, but she had no time to do more than watch.
“CRACK!”
The halberd found the weak point of the force field enveloping the city. Within moments, spiderweb fissures raced across its surface.
Then, it shattered in a thunderous explosion of light and bubbles.
The protective barrier—the city’s final defensive layer—lay in ruins.
And it was all because the city’s power had been devoted to Lady Azure’s spells and the soldiers’ enhancements.
