Chapter 1578: Next target: Night Prince
It took fifteen long hours for Cain’s body to fully recover. During that time, he consumed countless healing treasures—potions, rare herbs, and panaceas that dozens of Peak Divine Transcendence Masters had collected over the course of centuries.
When he finally rose from meditation, he could feel his life and soul force thrumming with renewed vitality. A slight smile appeared as he tested his strength, clenching his fists and sensing the boiling power coursing through his veins.
“This body is incredibly resilient and hard to damage,” Cain murmured, his tone carrying a hint of wry amusement. “But that also makes it incredibly expensive to heal whenever I get hurt.”
Despite those words, Cain had no reason to complain about the Indestructible Herculean Physique that had saved him countless times. Without it, he would never have withstood armies with thousands of Divine Transcendence Masters and tens of thousands of Divine Transformation Masters.
Cain’s nebulous eyes flickered as he shifted his focus toward the far distance, where the remains of the underwater city lay. With his current power, he was more than capable of eliminating the remnants of Lady Azure’s faction—particularly now that they had lost their stronghold.
But after a few moments of consideration, he shook his head.
“Unless they’re suicidal, there’s no way they’re still in that ruined city. The Gu World is a Primary World, which is almost as large as a small continent in the Everstrife Empyrean World. If they truly want to hide, finding them will be difficult.”
A twinge of hatred and killing intent flared in his eyes when he thought of Lady Azure. Yet he restrained himself, pushing down the temptation to waste time on a fruitless chase.
Among the memories Cain had acquired through soul-search, there was one that revealed the location of another major faction. Apparently, the leader of that faction had shared sensitive information with a Peak Divine Transcendence woman who secretly served as his spy within the ranks of Lady Azure.
“Night Prince…” Cain’s voice dropped to a cold whisper, a menacing edge lacing his tone.
There were two people he wanted dead above all others: Lady Azure and the Night Prince. While failing to kill the old Anima still grated on him, he refused to make the same mistake with the “little brat” who thought to stab him in the back.
Of course, Cain himself was no saint—he had used the Night Prince on multiple occasions and had no compunction about betraying him. Yet, in his mind, that detail was easily set aside.
Unlike his previous head-on confrontations with Lady Azure or Core Elder Karun, this time Cain resolved to act with careful planning. He was not averse to throwing himself into danger to enhance his potential, but eliminating the Night Prince took priority over personal training.
A resolute glint shone in his eyes as he channeled his focus on the A.I. Gu Insect.
In response, the miniature demonic snake hissed with fierce delight, diving into the Star Sealing Runic Formation on Cain’s left arm.
There, hundreds of thousands of Gu Insects—trophies from Lady Azure’s forces—lay in dormancy. The A.I. Gu Insect opened its maw, unleashing a devouring force that ravenously consumed them all.
Cain’s lips curved into a slight smile as he felt wave upon wave of vitality and psychic power surge into the cocoon that housed Leviathan. The cocoon expanded slowly, signifying the ongoing restoration of the mighty demonic winged serpent.
“Even though there are fewer Gu Insects now than there were in Karun’s faction,” Cain mused, “the nourishment is just as potent. I suppose that makes sense—Lady Azure sacrificed all her Apotheosis Masters to empower her Divine Masters.”
Her ruthlessness did not surprise him; he knew well what kind of person Lady Azure was.
Meanwhile, the A.I. Gu Insect continued its consumption, and Cain turned to the Third Realm phantom inside the Soul Dimension.
“Thanks again for your help against that soul strike,” Cain said, sincerity ringing in his voice.
The Third Realm specter nodded, offering a faint smile. There was an agreement between the two. The Sky Sovereign understood that while Cain could be unfathomably ruthless, he was also the type to honor his word—once given in good faith, it was unlikely Cain would break it.
Cain let out a slow exhale before speaking in a serious tone.
“I need your help in three areas. First, I want something that can keep my consciousness locked inside my body and soul.”
He was well aware that his greatest weakness right now was mental vulnerability. The Night Prince, in particular, excelled at nightmarish domain spells that could trap his mind. In the past, Cain could resist such attempts through the [A.I. Chip Module] and Ego Wave, but he no longer had access to those defenses.
For a moment, the Sky Sovereign remained silent, eyes glowing with arcane runes. Finally, he answered.
“There is a Mind-Lock Runic Formation often used to keep prisoners from using mental or spiritual attacks. If I adjust it properly, it could prevent any outside force from extracting your consciousness.”
A wide smile spread across Cain’s face as he nodded in approval.
“Second,” he continued, “I need something to protect my mind from soul strike spells and abilities.”
A slight frown touched the Sky Sovereign’s features at the request.

“That is more complicated. I can deploy a Soul Shield Runic Formation to reinforce your mind and soul, similar to the technique I used against Requiem of the Forgotten. However, it can only withstand a certain amount of damage before it breaks. At the moment, I can only manage a formation at the Peak Divine Transcendence level—that’s my limit.”
Cain’s smile faded somewhat at this news. He suspected the Night Prince’s power might exceed that threshold, especially with Gu Insect augmentation. But something was better than nothing.
“I’ll have to handle the rest on my own,” he muttered. “Still, that’s good enough if I act carefully.”
Cain’s eyes gleamed with cunning as he made his last demand.
“Finally, I need…”
