Chapter 1586: Rebirth Sacrifice
The Sky Sovereign watched Cain drive his fist into Reverend Madness’s face. A radiant smile lit the phantom’s features, and it only grew wider as he surveyed the colossal entity rampaging across the dimension—a winged serpent unleashing what could only be described as an ocean of psychic energy in living form.
“ROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRR!”
A thunderous roar resounded across the Soul Dimension as Leviathan twisted through the void, its voice proclaiming its rebirth. Thanks to the consumption of all the Gu Insects from the people of the Night Prince’s faction that perished under Cain’s initial assault, the A.I. Gu Insect had grown strong enough to complete the healing of the Alter Ego. In doing so, it awakened the Ego Eternal Path of Power once more, this time at an even greater level than before.
Leviathan’s might now defied measure, surpassing its previous limits by a staggering margin. Its Concepts churned like celestial storms within its sinewy body. Meanwhile, its physical form had expanded to a gargantuan scale—nine hundred ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine meters in length.
The demonic winged serpent was a mere meter shy of the iconic one-million mark. It was as though a mysterious cosmic barrier prevented it from exceeding that final threshold. Still, the willpower radiating from that mammoth creature eclipsed that of even the most formidable Soul Realm masters. At this moment, the force of Cain’s willpower corresponded to that of a Third Realm life form!
Reverend Madness sensed this too. He felt Cain’s willpower surge beyond any conventional standard for a Soul Realm cultivator. It was the first time since his awakening that a serious expression replaced his smug confidence.
If Cain had been a Prima Deity, Reverend Madness would have dismissed such levels of will. Most high existences in that realm developed powerful wills through soul feedback. True, unbreakable mental fortitude was rarer. But this was different. Cain’s cultivation was, by all accounts, still anchored in Divine Transformation. Yet his will gleamed like a star, shocking even an ancient monster half a billion years old.
Reverend Madness’s eyes narrowed. “I will admit, boy, when it comes to the Ego Eternal Path of Power, you are worthy of being called a monster. In all my millions of years of existence, I have never seen someone like you.”
He paused, then exhaled slowly as a cold light of killing intent erupted in his gaze. “But that only makes me want to eliminate you more.”
Black starlight swirled around him in a rising tide, condensing around his sword and staff. “Your Ego Wave and your Concepts do make you stronger,” he continued, “but you’re far too wounded to pose a real threat. Resist, and your death will be agony. Surrender, and I will end it quickly.”
Cain gazed at Reverend Madness, then glanced at his own bloodied, battered body. A rueful smile curved his lips. His injuries were severe. In truth, he had already pushed his life force and soul force beyond what his Tier I Royal Rebirth Mark could safely withstand without catastrophic backlash.
“You speak the truth,” Cain said softly, his voice marked by an otherworldly calm. “My mind is clearer and stronger than ever before, but my body’s on its last legs. Fighting you in this state will be futile.”
The serenity in Cain’s tone disturbed Reverend Madness on a fundamental level. The words he spoke were reminiscent of a warrior accepting his imminent death, yet his eyes showed not a single hint of defeat.
Reverend Madness’s thoughts scrambled. “Why is he so calm if he’s truly given up? Is he bluffing?”
He began to raise his sword for a final blow, determined to end Cain before whatever scheme the young man might have in mind could unfold. However, before Reverend Madness could strike or even ascertain the situation, something happened that shocked him—an ancient fiend who had lived half a billion years—more deeply than any blow thus far.
“ZNNN.”
A sharp tearing sound echoed as Cain thrust his finger directly into his own chest. The digit penetrated skin, muscle, and bone until it plunged deep into his heart. A violent jet of blood sprayed from the wound, painting the cracked earth in crimson.
“What…?” Reverend Madness breathed, his expression frozen. He could scarcely believe what he was seeing. “Is he…committing suicide?”
But there was more at work here than simple self-destruction. The blood pouring from Cain’s heart ignited, blazing with flames so potent that the air itself shimmered with their heat. Each droplet burned with an overwhelming vitality and spiritual force that seemed capable of saturating the sky and earth with life.
And this was only the beginning. The same flame spread from inside Cain’s body, erupting from his eyes, ears, nose, and every wound he had suffered. Within moments, the fiery aura enveloped him entirely, making him look like a phoenix incarnate. At a speed visible to the naked eye, the gashes and tears in his flesh began to mend. Severed sinew, broken bone, torn organs—all of it healed as though time were rapidly reversing within his cells.
Not only did Cain’s wounds close, but his life force and soul force also began to surge anew, replenishing at a miraculous pace. Reverend Madness felt the stirrings of panic mix with his killer intent, prompting him to act. Yet, the transformation was too quick to halt. By the time he was ready to move, the regeneration was nearly complete, leaving Cain’s body in pristine condition.
He radiated power from every pore—physically, energetically, and spiritually. The bitterness in Reverend Madness’s grimace was unmistakable, while Cain wore an expression that seemed almost euphoric.
Cain lifted his hand, flexing his fingers as if testing this newly restored vigor. “I was forced to sacrifice my Luminous Phoenix Heart,” he murmured, “triggering the Rebirth Sacrifice ability from that Tier I treasure.”
The flames slowly receded, revealing smooth skin where once there had been torn flesh. “I may have lost a valuable artifact,” he admitted, “but it was worth it!”
Cain took a slow, deliberate breath, channeling the vastness of his Star Power, Laws, and newly bolstered Concepts throughout his body and soul. He hoisted the Shooting Star Dragon Halberd with renewed purpose and leveled its blade at Reverend Madness. A fierce light danced in his eyes.
“Time for round two.”
