Chapter 1599: Triggering a continent cataclysm
Cain calmly gazed at the Gu cultivators gathered before him, then raised his hand and unleashed the power of his Ego Wave. Immediately, heart-wrenching screams of pain erupted from the Divine Transcendence Masters. Their agony was intense, nearly unbearable, but oddly enough, within their anguished cries, a faint trace of relief and exhilaration could be discerned.
They felt a powerful yet ethereal force grasp onto their Gu Insects, violently pulling the monstrous parasites from their bodies. While the removal process tore through their flesh and spiritual channels, causing deep and painful wounds, these injuries were a small price to pay compared to being freed from the ticking time bombs within their bodies.
With one final surge, every single Gu Insect was torn away from the cultivators’ forearms. The countless insects, monstrous and overflowing with sinister energy, surged toward Cain like iron filings drawn inexorably to a magnet.
Under the astonished gaze of every Gu cultivator present, Cain opened his mouth wide, unleashing a devouring force that instantly consumed thousands of these dreadful insects in a single moment. As the horrifying swarm disappeared into his body, his Ego Wave began to radiate with even greater intensity.
A faint but unmistakable smile appeared on Cain’s face as he absorbed this tremendous influx of energy. Now that he had broken through and achieved Mind and Body as One, he had grown powerful enough to not only control but directly devour these insectoid Third Realm phenomena, no longer relying on external power to kill them. His newfound power was exhilarating, but his smile did not linger long.
The next instant, Cain extended his hand again, swiftly grabbing hold of another figure amidst the stunned cultivators. This time, the person who fell under his grasp was none other than Lady Azure. The old Anima’s face contorted in absolute horror as she stared into Cain’s cold eyes. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and desperation filled her voice as she attempted to plead.
“Have mer—”
Her words were abruptly cut short as scarlet tendrils surged from Cain’s hand, rapidly encasing Lady Azure’s entire body in a crimson cocoon. The scarlet energy invaded her flesh and soul, sealing her so thoroughly that she could neither move nor even think.
As he observed the imprisoned figure, coldness and disdain appeared plainly on Cain’s face. With a dismissive gesture, he sent the cocoon into his Soul Dimension.
Lucius and the other Gu cultivators watched this scene unfold without the slightest shred of pity or sympathy for Lady Azure. After all, she had betrayed them openly and had even seemed eager to watch them perish. Yet despite their hatred for the traitorous old Anima, a deep and overwhelming dread remained in their hearts.
Cain had not consumed them alongside the Gu Insects, so perhaps he did not intend to kill them outright. Still, they could not afford to be certain of anything; after all, who could truly understand the intentions or motivations of such an enigmatic and powerful figure?
Just as their anxiety peaked, Cain finally spoke, his voice calm and indifferent yet commanding in its absolute authority.
“You should leave the continent—if you wish to survive.”
Without waiting for a reply, Cain’s body erupted with immense power as he surged forward, disappearing into the distance to confront Reverend Madness again. Lucius and the other cultivators stood rooted to the ground, stunned and relieved, unable to believe their good fortune.
Indeed, Cain had originally come to the Gu World driven by a desire for revenge, destruction, and consumption. However, his ascension to the Third Realm profoundly transformed his mentality and perceptions. As a Prima Deity, trivial grudges against mere Soul Realm cultivators no longer held significance to him. While Lady Azure’s fate had been sealed due to the complicated history with him, he saw no need to consume the others since there was no gain in it.
Realizing their chance, Lucius and the rest did not hesitate for a moment. They turned and fled swiftly toward the continent’s shores. The confrontation between Prima Deities had the power to make an Empyrean World’s continent tremble. In a Primary World like the Gu World, the collateral damage could mean outright annihilation. They knew remaining any longer would surely mean their deaths.
Cain was completely indifferent to the fleeing cultivators. His entire focus was directed toward the burning figure of Reverend Madness in the distance.
The ancient monster had managed to disperse most of the scarlet flames that had engulfed him, but bright embers continued to linger stubbornly around the deep wounds on his chest. These flames consumed Reverend Madness’s very essence, steadily weakening him and obstructing any attempt at regeneration.
“Dammit!” Reverend Madness roared furiously, sensing Cain’s unstoppable approach. Forced to ignore his wounds, he raised his trident, causing it to erupt violently with immense waves of black starlight energy, unleashing a destructive arc that sliced through space as it surged directly toward Cain.
Cain’s expression remained cold and unyielding as he faced this black arc of annihilation. Without hesitation, he thrust his halberd forward decisively.
Having achieved Mind and Body as One, the Sundering Concept had fully fused into his very existence. He radiated its terrifying power naturally, enabling his weapon to effortlessly slice through the arc of black starlight. The destructive energy split apart harmlessly, scattered into dissipating fragments.
Cain’s momentum did not slow for even an instant as he closed in on Reverend Madness with ruthless determination. This time, the half-billion-year-old monster was prepared. With a ferocious roar, Reverend Madness swung his trident forward, matching Cain’s strike with all his considerable might.
The two divine weapons collided violently, instantly triggering an explosion of energy so cataclysmic it fractured the skies and caused colossal fissures to rupture across the entire continent. Pillars of molten magma surged upward from beneath the fractured ground, but neither Cain nor Reverend Madness paid any heed to the catastrophic destruction unfolding around them.
Locked in their fierce clash, both pushed forward relentlessly, weapons pressing together until the accumulated power between them reached its breaking point. A tremendous blast erupted, sending both flying backward.
Cain stabilized himself after just a few hundred meters, while Reverend Madness was hurled back tens of thousands, clearly demonstrating the difference in their current strengths.
Yet, Cain was merely warming up.
“Path of Conquest: Obliteration March!”
Cain’s voice thundered across the devastated landscape as he surged once more into battle. A divine devouring force emanated from his body, greedily consuming energy from the entire continent, channeling it directly into his weapon.
