Chapter 1648: Dark Moon Eye
The collapse of the entire kingdom would lead to the death of countless people. Cain didn’t concern himself too much with casualties—at least, not when it came to cultivators. Battle-hardened warriors, schemers, and opportunists, they had chosen a life that welcomed death with open arms.
Yet, ordinary people, especially children or those just beginning their cultivation paths—Cain had a soft spot for them.
His eyes began to glow, and the power of his Inner World surged forth, manifesting with divine radiance. The void left behind by the extraction of the kingdom’s dimension was vast, a wound in space-time itself.
In a heartbeat, Cain’s will shaped the void into something whole. The ground was reforged and the intricate web of spatial-temporal threads was stabilized. He ensured the place would remain firm and stable for thousands of years, thus preventing the meaningless death of innocents due to dimensional instability.
Once his work was done, his expression changed. The concern faded from his eyes, replaced by a cold, calculating gleam. He gazed upward with purpose.
“I need subjects for my experience,” he muttered, his voice a whisper on the wind. “And if I want them to believe his cover, I’ll have to put on a good show. I guess I’ll be killing two birds with one stone.”
The earthquakes had alarmed the entire Nightmare Kingdom and the kingdom’s rulers responded swiftly. From within the central palace, an elderly man ascended into the sky, surrounded by hundreds of armored warriors.
They moved in perfect formation, eyes sharp, their auras brimming with power and discipline. At the center of the group stood the Nightmare King himself, father of the Night Prince.
Although the tremor vanished almost immediately, the Nightmare King and the rest were all still on high alert, and could not hide the tension and fear in their eyes.
Ordinarily, the Nightmare King exuded strength and purpose. But now, his eyes were hollow. His back, once straight with pride, seemed burdened by an unseen weight. The reason was a single person.
Cain Laurifer.
His son—the Night Prince—had betrayed the one known as The Monster. That was bad enough when Cain had been nothing more than someone barely capable of withstanding the blows of a Third Realm Master.
The moment news spread that Cain Laurifer had butchered Revered Madness, everything shifted. He wasn’t just a threat anymore—he was an existential calamity. And the worst part was that the Nightmare King didn’t even know if his son was still alive. For all he knew, the Night Prince had already been killed inside the Gu World.
The Nightmare King scanned the surroundings, trying to locate the source of the disturbance when suddenly, a monstrous red Ego Wave surged across the kingdom. A suffocating pressure descended. Dread seeped into every soul like poison.
When the Nightmare King looked up, he saw a young man standing calmly in the sky, an air of boredom painted across his face, as though everything happening below was little more than an inconvenience.
Before the Nightmare King could speak, the Ego Wave struck him like a tidal force, flooding his mind. His eyes lost focus, his consciousness wrenched from reality, and in the blink of an eye, he was pulled into Cain’s Inner World—and he was not alone.
Cain needed subjects. While he would not harm innocents, the Nightmare Kingdom had long been a festering pool of wickedness. Armed with the memories of the Night Prince, Cain easily located the corrupted and malevolent.
In under a minute, over fifteen thousand individuals were ripped from their homes and cast into his Inner World.
The sudden influx placed tremendous pressure on his world, but Cain didn’t worry. They wouldn’t be staying long.
He observed the rest of the kingdom as they stared up at him with terror in their eyes, paralyzed by fear, unsure of whether they would be next.
Without uttering a single word, Cain vanished, leaving nothing behind except the obliterated royal lineage of the Nightmare Kingdom. That alone was message enough.
Cain reappeared far away, above a distant sea that was devoid of life. His eyes were calm, he waved his hand and summoned all the captives. They stood before him, eyes open but minds shackled, each with a singular command engraved deep within their soul: to assist in the Tribulation Enhancement process to the best of their abilities.
With a deep breath, Cain extended his hand, absorbing the energy of the world. Flames of thirty-two different colors ignited around him, dancing like spirits summoned from the void.
He didn’t stop until a hundred individual flames floated before him. Once that was over, he turned his attention to the first batch.
Performing multiple Tribulation Enhancements rapidly advanced his experiential understanding, but it was also extremely dangerous. That said, Cain had little concern for the lives of those he’d brought here.
“BOOM!”
“BOOM!”
“BOOM!”
One after another, explosions rocked the sky. Flesh and blood rained into the crimson sea, staining the waves with the price of Cain’s progress. In under half an hour, all one hundred had perished in grotesque detonation, their bodies unable to withstand the volatile forces coursing through them.
Unmoved, Cain shifted his gaze to the next group. The cycle repeated—experiments, flames, detonation. Thousands of explosions echoed across the waves for the next three days. When it ended, all subjects were dead and a crimson mist hung over the sea.

Yet, Cain smiled as he felt how his skill had evolved.
“I can now start practicing with 33 Revolution Flames,” he muttered, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes. “But I’ll need more test subjects.”
It didn’t take long to decide where to find them. A name surfaced in his mind.
Sorcerer’s Hand.
Cain had crossed paths with some of their members before venturing into the Gu World. Back then, he had only targeted the bottom feeders, careful not to draw the attention of their leader—a Third Realm life form with immense power. But things were different now.
He was ready to take on the entire organization, and the stronger his opponents, the better.
Just as new plans began forming in his mind, a sharp throb coursed through his right eye.
A thrill surged through Cain, the kind that made his blood hum with exhilaration. The Scarlet Throne had consumed enough of the ArchDeity’s corpse to grant Cain insight—profound, arcane knowledge related to his right eye.
“Dark Moon Eye,” he whispered.
