Chapter 1650: Cain vs Sorcerer
“Hahahahahah!”
Cain threw his head back in laughter, the sound echoing across the scorched battlefield. A moment later, he shook his head and flashed an amused, almost silly smile.
“Of course, I’m kidding,” he said, voice laced with mockery. “If you really want a reason… it’s simple. Killing you will make me stronger. And since you’re vile, ancient, and solitary, I doubt anyone would care—much less seek vengeance in your name.”
The Sorcerer’s eyes twitched at the words, fury bubbling beneath his aged, cracked skin. Was this child truly mocking him—he, who had lived for millions of years, ruled a vast underground network, and inspired fear in the hearts of an entire continent? And yet now, he was being spoken to as if he were a mere animal about to be slaughtered.
“You little brat! You know nothing of this world!” the Sorcerer roared, his voice thunderous with indignation.
A pulse of black energy erupted from his body, shooting into the sky and forming a towering pillar of shadow and death. The heavens trembled as the cursed energy spread, suffused with decay and malevolence so potent that it would have turned anyone beneath the Divine Transcendence Rank into a pull of putrified blood.
“I will teach you the price of offending your elders!”
In the next instant, he pointed a withered finger at Cain, and a surge of soul energy exploded outward like a shockwave.
Cain flinched, a flicker of discomfort twitching across his face as a searing sensation danced across his skin. In less than a second his gaze sharpened, and his eyes, now glowing faintly, swept over his body.
“So the information was right after all,” he muttered, half to himself. “You really are a master of curses. This is the infamous Soulbrand Hex, isn’t it?”
He looked up, calm and composed. “With that mark on me, any wounds you inflict will dig deeper, last longer, and resist healing. Clever trick, but this type of spell places a heavy pressure on your soul.”
The Sorcerer clenched his teeth. Not only did Cain know about his most secret technique, but he also stood there, branded and burning, with nothing but peace in his eyes.
“Hmph,” the Sorcerer sneered, dark energy crackling around him again. “Then let’s end this!”
He raised both arms. The air twisted, warped, and screamed as an immense cursed formation bloomed into existence beneath them.
“Blightwhisper Field.”
A malevolent fog seeped from the glowing runes in the ground, thick with toxins and arcane rot. It devoured all signs of life, corroding even the energy of the world around it.
The fog spiraled upward, rushing toward Cain like a hungry storm. Its power was immense. The formation must have been charging energy for a very long time, waiting for this very moment.
Although the fog could certainly harm him, Cain was not afraid and he merely raised his hand.
A dark sphere formed in his palm, etched with countless scarlet runes, each one pulsing with immense power.
“Dominion Eclipse Core.”
The runes detonated silently. The resulting forcefield erupted outward while the sphere of darkness unleashed a devouring power, sucking in the cursed fog, and compressing it into nothingness before it could reach him.
The Sorcerer’s eyes widened. Not only did the sphere neutralize his fog, but the force field significantly hindered his battle power.
And before he could react, Cain vanished in a streak of storm light.
In less than a heartbeat, he appeared before the Sorcerer, wielding a massive halberd whose blade shimmered with cosmic fire. The very fabric of reality wavered as the weapon sliced through the air.
The Sorcerer barely had time to defend. Chains forged from soul fragments lashed out from beneath his robes, shrieking as they intercepted the halberd’s swing. Faces of tormented spirits screamed from within them, locked in eternal agony.
Cain narrowed his eyes but didn’t hesitate. The force behind the weapon was immense, cracking the chains—but not quite breaking them. It bought the Sorcerer just enough time to teleport away in a flash of smoke and cursed light.
More chains emerged in his place, anchoring themselves between Cain and the Sorcerer, building distance.
“Stellar Obliteration March!”
Cain’s eyes ignited with killing intent. Flames—red as blood and hot as a dying star—exploded around the halberd. The weapon now devoured the very energy of the world as it burned brighter and hotter.

“CRACK!”
“BOOM!”
“CRACK!”
Explosions echoed across the battlefield as Cain barreled through the chains, his halberd shattering them one by one. With each swing, he drew closer, and with every step, the Sorcerer felt the chill of death drawing near.
Desperate, the Sorcerer summoned the depths of his power.
“PAIN!”
The cursed word exploded like thunder. Cain staggered as a burning agony tore through his nerves. His stamina cracked, and his senses dulled, but his charge didn’t falter.
“AGONY!”
“TORMENT!”
Each word the Sorcerer roared was another curse, wracking Cain’s body, draining his essence, making him bleed from the mouth. But still, Cain pushed forward—halberd blazing, soul unbroken.
The Sorcerer’s eyes glowed with desperate determination. He burned his life force and soul force together, preparing his final card.
“Final March!” Unfortunately for Sorcerer, before he could release that power, Cain shouted a battle cry and released a storm of fire-shadow energy from his halberd. It surged forward in a great arc, ripping through space itself.
The Sorcerer was forced to redirect his energy, summoning a shield made from a sea of howling souls, barely managing to intercept the blow.
“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”
The explosion tore the sky apart. The shield shattered into fragments of light and wailing spirits. The blast sent the Sorcerer hurtling into the ground with bone-crushing force. He coughed blood, feeling bones break and organs rupture.
But there was no time to recover.
Cain descended like a meteor.
The Sorcerer summoned his chains one final time, forming a wall in front of him. Behind it, he gathered his power, seeking to complete the chant of his trump card this time.
And just as Sorcerer was about to succeed, Cain’s right eye began to glow.
