Chapter 1693: Attacking Divine Calamity Heaven’s forces (II)
On the Endlessdeath Continent, nestled among icy cliffs and dark skies, there lay a vast frozen lake known as Silent Night. Perpetually covered by dense, brooding clouds and cursed with bone-chilling temperatures, the place earned its name from the eerie stillness that haunted its surface.

No birds flew over it. No beasts wandered close. Even sound seemed to flee from it.

But today, that silence shattered.

A series of thunderous explosions erupted across the lake, shaking the very air and echoing across the horizon like the cries of ancient titans. The force of the blasts tore the sky open, blasting apart the heavy clouds and allowing shafts of golden sunlight to pierce through for the first time in hundreds of thousands of years. The light washed over the battlefield, casting long shadows on the shimmering ice and revealing a war in full fury.

The combatants were none other than the Prima Deities of the Everlife Continent, led by the formidable Zoro, and their adversaries were the forces of the Endlessdeath Continent, commanded by the terrifying white stag Deus Behemoth of Divine Sea Heaven.

From the very first moment, the battle had been tilted in favor of Divine Calamity Heaven. Not because they outmatched their opponents in raw power—far from it—but because they had the numbers.

Following the death of Alexander and the grievous injuries suffered by Harkon, the forces of Divine Sea Heaven had been temporarily weakened. Zoro had pounced on the opportunity like a hawk on wounded prey.

Minute by minute, the warriors of Divine Calamity Heaven pushed forward. Every clash gained them more ground. Every strike drove the enemy closer to collapse. After nearly two hours of relentless, bloody battle, Divine Sea Heaven’s side was teetering on the edge of being completely overwhelmed.

“Flameveil Shardlings!”

The cry echoed from the distance, just as the battle was about to reach an irreversible turning point.

Suddenly, the sky dimmed again—not with clouds, but with a wave of millions of shadowflame creatures, shaped like demonic shards of night, sweeping across the battlefield in a howling storm. Their appearance halted the fighting momentarily, giving Divine Sea Heaven’s forces a respite.

All eyes turned toward the source of the spell.

From the far end of the battlefield emerged a Godslayer Human who looked like an ent forged from flame and shadow. His body pulsed with chaotic energy. His presence distorted the very air around him. He looked like a walking cataclysm—and everyone recognized him.

It was Jarkal, or so they thought.

The sight of him drew immediate reactions. The warriors of Divine Calamity Heaven erupted with curses and roars of rage, furious at the man’s delayed arrival. That was to be expected, but those from Divine Sea Heaven were not all smiles.

Though Jarkal’s arrival helped Divine Sea Heaven’s Prima Deities to balance the battlefield, he had been hours late—and his absence had nearly cost them the battle.

Even the white stag of Divine Sea Heaven turned his glowing gaze toward Jarkal, his aura flaring with restrained fury.

Feeling the wave of animosity from allies and enemies alike, Cain, disguised as Jarkal, responded exactly as the real Godslayer would have.

“I was held back by the Scarlet King. I wounded him. I don’t know where he is now.”

His tone was sharp and to the point—cold, commanding, and believable.

Instantly, the fury directed toward him shifted to something else: understanding… and caution.

Only a few months ago, the name Scarlet King had meant nothing. Now, it struck fear across all three continents.

Cain Laurifer had killed a Prima Deity, countered the assassination strike of a second, and nearly slain a third. After such feats, it was only natural for Divine Sea Heaven to investigate and spread the findings among its upper ranks.

“Fight! Everything else can wait!” roared the white stag Deus Behemoth, his voice like thunder crashing across the battlefield.

He launched himself back into battle against Zoro, their clash forming an epicenter of destruction. The other Prima Deities resumed fighting as well, unleashing their divine powers with renewed ferocity.

As for Cain, he knew that if he wanted to maintain his cover, he had to behave exactly as Jarkal would—brutal, unrelenting, and merciless.

His chosen opponent? Martin, the Crown Prince of the Golden Star Kingdom.

If Cain happened to kill Martin in the process, all the better. And if Zoro or the other commanders of Divine Calamity Heaven questioned it, he could always fall back on the excuse of maintaining cover in battle.

Martin’s eyes flared with fury as he charged, divine power gathering in his fists. He launched himself at Jarkal with everything he had, making the battle seem even more authentic.

Of course, if he had known that Cain Laurifer was behind Jarkal’s mask, Martin might have fought even harder.

Cain summoned massive constructs of flame and shadow, clashing with Martin again and again. Though he held his ground at first, he found himself slowly losing momentum. That part was no act—Cain was genuinely struggling to keep up.

There was a simple reason.

While the Scarlet Throne allowed Cain to mimic the powers of those he devoured, it wasn’t without limitations. There was always a slight degradation in power efficiency, particularly when it came to Laws. Jarkal’s mastery over the Laws of Fire and Shadow was more advanced than Cain’s own, and that gap showed in combat.

To mask that weakness, Cain let his aura pulse with erratic waves, creating the illusion that Jarkal’s reduced performance was due to lingering wounds from his battle with the Scarlet King. The logic was sound—and no one questioned it.

The only saving grace was that no one had yet activated their Liberacion Total. Everyone was holding back, saving their final cards for the most extreme of emergencies.

The battle dragged on, rising in intensity with each passing hour. Cain continued to clash with Martin, playing his role with terrifying accuracy. Jarkal’s arrival had helped restore balance, but Divine Calamity Heaven still held the upper hand. Their numbers and momentum were just too much.

Finally, after nearly five hours of constant fighting, the white stag Deus Behemoth let out a resounding roar that cut through the chaos.

“Retreat!”
