Chapter 1709: Blood Burst Technique
Andrew’s eyes narrowed as he saw Cain approach.

Though the young man had built an astonishing legend across the Everlife Continent and made great waves in the war, Andrew still viewed Cain as beneath him. Talented, yes. Dangerous, certainly. But not his equal by any chance. Even so, with dozens of Prima Deities watching, Andrew knew he couldn’t afford to be careless.

“What do you want?” His voice was harsh and cold, laced with restrained irritation.

Cain simply responded with a calm smile and a respectful bow.

“I wish to exchange a Prima Deity Life Point to reclaim one of the techniques.”

A ripple of shock passed through the gathered crowd. All eyes turned toward Cain in an instant. The list of rewards had only just been revealed—no one had expected someone to step forward so soon.

More importantly, Cain had no accumulated points. After all, the system had just been put in place a minute ago.

Andrew frowned deeply. But before he could reject the request, Cain continued, his tone even and confident.

“I killed a Prima Deity during the Sea of Misfortune Battle, which earns me a Prima Deity Life Point. I assume that counts.”

Andrew froze.

Cain was right. During that battle, Cain had indeed taken the life of a genuine Prima Deity—the only death registered up to this point. There was no denying it.

But before Andrew could respond, a voice burst out, laced with venom and malice.

“Hmph! That was before the rewards were announced! You have no right to claim a point now!”

The speaker was Martin, the Crown Prince of the Golden Star Kingdom. His words dripped with poisoned intent. Though some of the other Prima Deities that ruled Lord-Tier Organizations frowned at the pettiness of Martin’s interruption, none spoke in Cain’s defense. After all, any treasure that left the pyramid was one less available to them.

Cain turned to face Martin, but there was no rage in his expression. No scowl. No anger. Only a placid, calm smile that somehow chilled the air around him.

“According to your logic, I should’ve simply hidden during the battle—waited until rewards were offered before risking my life. Even now, I suppose I should only strike when it’s convenient and safe. Why act at all when a better offer might come later, or when the price might drop if the impasse stretches on a little longer?”

His words, though delivered gently, carried an undercurrent of razor-sharp sarcasm. The implication was unmistakable, and the other Prime Deities glanced among themselves, a flicker of realization passing between them.

Cain then turned his cold smile back to Martin.

“Tell me, Prince… do you see Divine Calamity Heaven as a cow you can milk however you wish?”

Martin’s eyes widened.

A tremor ran through his body as he felt the full weight of Zoro’s killing intent fall upon him from afar. The Crown Prince had simply wanted to knock Cain down a peg. He never imagined his words would offend Divine Calamity Heaven’s leadership or imply disloyalty.

He tried to speak, but no words came.

“Enough.” Andrew’s voice cut through the tension like a blade.

He stared at Martin, eyes cold and unreadable, before turning to Cain with equal sharpness. Though the Inferno-Daemon Hybrid was not easily played, he understood the maneuver Cain had executed—and he knew he’d lost this round.

“Every confirmed kill counts. It does not matter if it occurred before the treasures were announced. There will be no retroactive restrictions, nor any future revisions.”

His voice echoed inside the minds of every Prima Deity present, the decree absolute. Any attempt to change the rules from this point forward would be seen as foolish—and potentially suicidal.

Once that message settled, Andrew turned toward Cain.

“What treasure do you seek?”

Cain didn’t hesitate.

“I want the Blood Burst Technique.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Though Blood Burst was undeniably a powerful Peak Prime Deity Rank Technique, it was also infamous for one specific reason: it was focused almost entirely on escape and evasion.

Unlike the more glamorous battle arts, Blood Burst was designed for retreat—used when one was cornered, overwhelmed, or in need of instant disengagement. And it only required half a Prima Deity Life Point to claim.

Andrew gave no comment. He simply nodded and focused on the massive floating pyramid. A flicker of light passed through its structure, and moments later, an ancient, leather-bound book materialized in his hand. Without ceremony, he tossed it toward Cain.

Cain caught it and couldn’t help but let a small smile curl across his face as he felt the weight of the tome in his palm. Power radiated from it—spiritual, ageless, vast.

“It must be tens of millions of years old… if not hundreds,” he murmured to himself.

But just as Cain began to delve into the book’s aura, Martin’s voice echoed again, bitterness unrestrained.

“Hmph. An escape technique for a coward. Fitting.”

Cain’s smile didn’t vanish—but it did change.

Martin had once been a disciplined warrior, a stoic noble who measured every word with care and projected unwavering composure. But ever since his clash with Cain back in the Everlife Continent, something had changed. Seeing Cain rise, thrive, and grow stronger with each battle had affected him deeply—psychologically and spiritually. What now emerged from Martin was not confidence, but frustration. Resentment. Jealousy, even.

Cain’s gaze sharpened, his smile freezing into something colder.

Without a word, he waved his hand, sending the ancient book into his Inner World for safekeeping. And in the next instant, his body vanished in a blur of storm light.

Only the Late and Peak Prime Deities present even registered the movement.

Before anyone could react, Cain was standing directly in front of Martin, his hand wrapped tightly around the prince’s throat.

A chorus of gasps echoed across the square.

Shock didn’t stem solely from the sheer speed of Cain’s movement, but from the power he now exuded.

The radiant glow around his body pulsed with cosmic force, and someone shouted in disbelief.

“Rank 10 Star Power!”
