The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 997
Chapter 997: The Dark Brotherhood’s plan Chapter 997: The Dark Brotherhood’s plan The Dark Brotherhood’s mage’s eyes were full of terror as he saw the sword piercing his body.
But things were far from over.
The next second, a hand grabbed the back of his head.
Utter horror appeared on his face as he felt a force reach into his energy pool and began to forcefully extract his mana-infused Spirit Force.
Cain, driven by desire and curiosity, decided to test the newfound power of the Eye of Gluttony.
As the stream of energy and fragmented memories flooded his mind, he couldn’t help but be drawn to the golden energy.
A glimmer of a smile played on his lips as he wondered what type of ability would be granted.
Unfortunately for Cain, just as the golden energy was about to be forcefully taken from the ice mage’s energy pool and implanted into his, it shattered into pieces, leaving nothing more than raw energy.
The smile on the young man’s face disappeared.
Cain could not help but frown as he analyzed the difference between this case and the one with the Sky Lord assassin.
Unfortunately, the process was too fast, and he lacked the proper tools to analyze it properly.
“The only difference I can detect is the density of the golden energy from the Sky Lord was higher than from the Sky Master ice mage.
Maybe the golden energy carrying the ability must be stronger to resist the extraction and implantation.” Cain knew there might be more factors at play, but that was the best analysis he could come up with, given what little information he had.
Not wasting time, Cain took the space ring from the ice mage and put it in his hand, along with the one he obtained from the Sky Lord assassin.
Storage dimensions were much more challenging to acquire in the Crimson World than in Aether, as domain over the Laws was something that no one in the Physical Realm seemed able to achieve.
Duke Rellin saw how Cain kept the space ring from the mage, and while he was somewhat envious, he did not say anything.
While the ice mage was his opponent, it was the young man who killed all three members of the Dark Brotherhood.
Cain noticed the look in Duke Rellin’s eyes, and the next second, he threw the dark scepter toward the old man.
“This should belong to you.” A wide smile appeared on Duke Rellin’s face, dispelling all the envy from before.
The dark scepter was an even better artifact than his, and it was the one thing he truly cared about.
Cain would not push the old man around, as an amiable relationship was needed.
Once that was in order, he flashed to the ground where the charred body of the Sky Master warrior had landed.
He would have wanted to test the power of his Eye of Gluttony on the warrior, but the man was dead, and his energy pool had already started to dissipate.
After taking his space ring and belongings, Cain rose to the sky and glanced at Rellin, giving the man a meaningful stare before guiding him into a desolate part of the Grotto of Sorrows.
The old duke silently followed the young man, knowing it would not be wise to remain here, as who knew if there were more members of the Dark Brotherhood hiding in the area.
As they flew, a somber expression appeared on Cain’s face.
He was going through the broken memories he obtained from the Sky Lord assassin and Sky Master ice mage from the Dark Brotherhood.
Since he no longer had tools like the [A.I.
Chip Module], he needed to analyze the memories on his own, and it was no different than trying to harmonize an extremely complicated puzzle.
With every moment, the picture became clear, and the reason for the presence of the Dark Brotherhood in the Grotto of Sorrows made a solemn expression appear on Cain’s face.

The duo did not take long to reach a small cave at the bottom of the Grotto of Sorrows.
Once they were out of danger and prying eyes, Cain’s eyes narrowed as he focused on the old man, his gaze sharp and piercing.
Duke Rellin grew nervous for a moment as he saw those eyes, and a flash of worry began to arise in his heart, thinking that maybe the young man thought he was involved with the Dark Brotherhood.
However, before the old man could open his mouth, Cain spoke.
“I am willing to share something with you, which could be of great help for both but could also put us in great danger.
Are you ready to take that chance?” Cain’s eyes unleashed an intense aura as he uttered those words.
Duke Rellin was surprised by those words and remained silent for a moment before nodding, his eyes showing he understood the gravitas of the situation.
With a grave tone, Cain revealed, “My ability extends beyond energy consumption; I can also glean memories from those I consume.” He paused, allowing Duke Rellin to digest his words.
“I have acquired knowledge of the Dark Brotherhood’s members.
An invasion of the Trinity Kingdom is imminent.” The weight of his words hung heavy in the air, intensifying the impending danger.
Duke Rellin’s eyes widened, and fear appeared on his face, but soon, focus reigned as he took a deep breath and analyzed Cain’s words.
It did not take long for a meaningful light to appear in the old man’s eyes as he glanced at the young man.
A small smile appeared on Cain’s face as he saw that the old man understood why he was sharing this information and the possible danger behind them.
Warning about a potential attack on the Trinity Kingdom could be seen as a great heroic deed, but it was much more complicated than that.
First of all, Cain was an unknown figure who appeared out of nowhere.
Why would the rulers of the Trinity Kingdom believe him?
And even if they believed him that there was a danger approaching, why would they not pry open his mind and forcefully extract all he knew?
Cain needed to find a way to maximize the gain from this knowledge while at the same time ensuring his safety.
Duke Rellin remained silent for a few minutes before finally speaking.
“Could you share with me the information you obtained from the members of the Dark Brotherhood?” Cain nodded and closed his eyes for a moment, ordering the memories of the duo in his mind before speaking.
“The mission of the trio from the Dark Brotherhood was not to kill a target but all members of nobility that pass by, to cause mayhem and weaken the strength of the Trinity Kingdom.” Duke Rellin could not help but frown.
The Dark Brotherhood had always been an overbearing force, but they knew their limits, and killing nobles would undoubtedly arouse the wrath of the Trinity Kingdom, something they could not endure.
However, as Rellin remembered how the trio reacted with killing intent when they learned his identity, he could not help but accept those words as truth, casting a solemn shadow over his heart.
“They have been here for the last three weeks, and once the month is over, they were supposed to join with other members and attack the port city of Bravos.” A meaningful light appeared in Cain’s eyes as he reached that part.
He had learned a lot about the geography and military and political order of the Trinity Kingdom.
The port cities were one of the most critical locations as it was in those areas where an invasion from another island could arise.
Duke Rellin could not help but clench his fists as he heard the part about the port city of Bravos.
If it was just killing nobles, there were many forces that could try that, but if you combine it with an attack on a port city, the only one that could try to do something like that was an enemy island.
The old man tried to search for some way to carefully use this information without arousing suspicion, but it was not that simple, and in the end, he focused on the young man.
“I assume you have a way to share this knowledge without putting yourself in danger?” Cain smiled before softly nodding, a scheming light appearing in his eyes as he laid out his plan.
“The capital must already be aware of the attack on the nobles, so we just need to share our fight with the trio to confirm their suspicions.
As for the knowledge about the invasion, we can say we discovered the trio thanks to my eyesight abilities, and we heard them say the word Bravos.” Rellin could not help but gaze at Cain, wondering how someone so young could develop such a scheming mind.
The young man would just give a hint and allow the rulers to make their own analysis, making everybody think they barely knew what was happening so no one would think about reading their minds.
According to the new tale, it was not just Cain who learned this, but also Rellin, so they would share the glory of warning the Trinity Kingdom and the danger.
