The Extra Seeks Chaos - Chapter 239
Chapter 239: Letter
Arthur walked inside hastily, staring at his mother with sharp eyes.
Without wasting a single second, he instantly spoke.
“It’s Alex Whiteheart… Alex Whiteheart was the one who killed me…”
The Fifth Wing turned back, staring at Arthur with a curious gaze.
“So, you finally decided to say it, huh?” the queen said, her voice carrying a certain mischievous ring to it.
“Ever since you woke up, Arthur, I knew there was something else you weren’t saying.”
Arthur clenched his fists as he stared at his mother.
The queen stared at the Fifth Wing before speaking:
“Excuse us. I’ll call you later.”
The Fifth Wing bowed his head before walking out.
The queen’s eyes followed his figure out of the room before she quickly looked at Arthur again.
“You said it was a vampire that killed you. Why did you lie?”
“Alex was my friend,” Arthur quickly replied, as if he was already expecting the question.
The queen was silent for a few seconds before she sighed.
“What went wrong?” she muttered. “Did I train a weakling?”
CREAK!
Her long claw-like fingers scraped the armrest of her throne, making a sharp creak sound in the room.
Arthur just lowered his head, though the look in his eyes didn’t waver for even a second.
“So, because he was your friend… you originally decided to let it go…?”
Arthur remained silent.
But then…
BOOM!
A violent wave of energy instantly erupted from the queen, crashing into Arthur like a raging sea.
WHOOSH! BOOM!
Arthur was instantly thrown back violently, and his back hit the wall with immense force, making cracks appear on it.
The queen stood up and began walking towards him, her every step seemingly increasing the temperature in the room.
The sound of her heels hitting the floor echoed, and she finally reached Arthur, standing in front of him.
“Get up.”
A single command.
Her voice was like a tremor to Arthur, and he didn’t even dare to disobey.

Instantly, he stood up, though his head was still lowered.
“Now, tell me, what transpired?”
This time around, Arthur didn’t remain silent.
He knew what would happen if he didn’t speak.
“A vampire actually invaded the academy, but that vampire wasn’t the one who killed me…” Arthur began, “that same night, Alex called me to the rooftop. He said he wanted to show me something. And that was when-”
“He killed you…” the queen said, completing Arthur’s words.
“So, what does this mean?” she added, a sly smile on her lips.
“T… the vampires…” Arthur stammered.
The queen turned back, walking towards the throne as she spoke:
“That boy… Alex Whiteheart. How strong is he?”
She added,
“He’s a human, so obviously, he’ll be weak. But he was still strong enough to kill you, so tell me…”
Arthur gulped.
“He’s strong… really strong.”
The queen sat down on the throne as she crossed her legs again.
Her eyes glowed with a bright orange light as she muttered, her voice low but firm… deadly.
“How strong…?”
***********
A single tear…
A single tear rolled down Lina’s cheek, dropping on the paper she was holding.
It was finally morning and everywhere was bright.
It was a new day, which meant that it was time for the students of all the academies in the kingdom to see their families again, before they would go to the city they were assigned to.
The carriages had already gathered in front of Greenfield Academy, ready to take the students to the cities where their families were.
Lina, like every other student, was already prepared. She had her bags prepared.
All the students were already standing in front of the academy. Though, for some reason, Arin was nowhere to be found.
She kept looking for him for a few seconds, but that was when Hector gave her a letter, saying that Arin asked him to give it to her this morning.
Reading the contents of the letter, Lina felt… empty.
And then, the single tear rolled down.
The contents of the letter were short, but heavy at the same time.
“I have really important things to do, so I left the academy last night. Because of that, I won’t be able to visit Mom, Dad, and Edwin. I hope we will meet again.
Much love, Arin.”
In truth, Arin had thought hard about what to write, but he couldn’t come up with anything more emotional than this.
He felt pain leaving Lina, but he just couldn’t put it into writing.
But well, Lina clearly felt his emotions, even though the letter was short.
The “much love” part was enough to make her cry.
Hector, who was standing beside Lina, instantly grabbed the letter, wondering what was in it that made Lina cry.
Immediately he saw the contents of the letter, he instantly understood.
“Lina…” he muttered.
Lina didn’t look at him. She just quickly wiped her tears with her hands.
She then stared at Hector and nodded. “I’ll be fine…”
Hector was speechless at this point. He just didn’t know what to say to Lina.
“Rainfall City!”
Lina heard the name of the city her parents were living in, and she quickly picked up her bags.
“Remember what I said, I’ll meet you in Rainfall City,” Hector said.
Lina nodded again, her eyes still showing hints of tears.
“Alright. I’ll be waiting.”
The city Hector came from was very close to Rainfall City, and since they would be allowed to stay with their parents for an entire day, he agreed that he would come to Rainfall City to meet Lina.
Lina quickly entered the carriage and glanced at Hector once again.
She gave him a reassuring smile before the carriage began moving.
As the carriage began moving through the path that led to Starshine City, Lina’s thoughts spiraled.
What would she tell their parents?
How would she even explain it?
Where would she start from?
She didn’t even know how their parents would react to the news.
She stared at the letter in her hands and her expression suddenly hardened.
“Arin… I don’t know what you’re up to, but…”
She looked at the meadow terrain as she gripped the letter.
“We will meet again… and you will answer all my questions…”
“All of them…”
********
“Have you prepared your team, Draka?”
An enticing voice asked.
The voice belonged to a woman who was seated on a throne. Her hair had different colours—blue, red, green—but the most dominant of all… purple.
Her purple eyes gleamed as she stared at the handsome man in front of her.
The man was tall and had long black hair, with a chiseled face.
He had two horns on his head, and pointed ears.
“Yes, I have,” he replied as he bowed slightly.
“Good. I will soon give you my order. You can leave now.”
The man bowed again before leaving.
A few seconds after he left, the lady’s voice was heard again.
“Kiara…” she muttered.
In that same instant, Kiara entered the throne room, her long purple hair fluttering lightly.
She bowed down instantly. “I am here, my Queen.”
“I considered your suggestion, and…”
She paused, the tension in the room increasing slightly before she continued,
“I approve of it.”
Kiara’s eyes flickered for a second, but she didn’t dare to raise her head yet.
“But this is the last chance you’ll be getting,” the queen added. “If you still do not bring my son back, the consequences won’t be little.”
Kiara nodded frantically. “Understood, my Queen.”
A few seconds passed by in silence before it was broken by the queen.
“Come here, Kiara.”
Kiara instantly obeyed.
She stood up and walked towards the queen, her head still lowered.
“Look at me,” the queen ordered as soon as Kiara stood in front of her.
Kiara raised her head. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise.
Unlike the usual fierce look the queen usually had, her expression was soft this time… really soft.
Her expression held a certain kind of warmth… one that Kiara missed a lot.
She couldn’t help it. Her eyes instantly teared up, and then…
Sob. Sob.
She began crying. She fought desperately to stop, but she couldn’t. She couldn’t even wipe the tears.
The queen raised her hands, holding Kiara’s face.
“I know I may be harsh most times… especially to you, but I have a reason for that, Kiara. I don’t want you to go through what I went through.”
The queen’s eyes were soft as she spoke.
She hugged Kiara, and Kiara instantly hugged her back, her cry getting louder.
They stayed like that for minutes, and Kiara hugged the queen tighter as if she didn’t want her to let go.
This was the warmth and love she had always wanted, and it seemed like she was finally getting it now.
She wanted to be acknowledged, and maybe… just maybe, it was happening now.
But then, the words she had always wanted to hear finally came out from the queen’s mouth.
“I love you… Kiara.”
Kiara’s heart became heavy, but she instantly responded as if she had been storing the reply for this exact moment.
“I love you too… Mother.”
