The Extra Seeks Chaos - Chapter 255
Chapter 255: The Sixth Commander
“How long have you been walking now?” Seraphine asked.
“I don’t know,” Arin replied as he continued walking in the forest.
He knew that he would definitely see an open space. He just had to continue searching.
He suddenly stopped walking and turned back.
He saw a carriage that was quite far from him. The carriage was levitating.
“Hmm, maybe it’s heading to the next village,” Arin muttered.
He looked forward again and continued walking.
Though, he couldn’t help but turn back again, and this time, he noticed that the carriage had stopped.
He squinted his eyes, watching as someone came down from the carriage.
A man.
He was walking towards Arin’s direction.
Arin furrowed his brows.
He didn’t see anything unusual about the man so he continued walking.
After a few minutes, he noticed that the man was actually walking towards his direction.
“Maybe he just wants to ask for directions,” Seraphine said.
“I’m not quite sure,” Arin said, his eyes still squinted.
“Hey, boy!” The man shouted towards Arin as he continued approaching.
Arin stood, facing the man. His pose was confident.
Though, he didn’t reply. He just kept staring at the man.
The man stopped a good distance away from Arin.
His black hair was neatly styled, and his eyes were sharp and carried a hint of mischievousness in them.
He had a quite muscular build.
Arin’s eyes scanned the man, his mask hiding his current cautious expression.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? I just greeted you,” Vake said as a smirk formed on his lips.
Arin furrowed his brows. “You call ‘hey boy’ a greeting?”
“Oh, my bad. It seems you don’t think of yourself as a boy,” Vake said.
“What the hell is this guy even saying?” Seraphine asked.
“I don’t even know. He hasn’t said anything that made sense,” Arin said.
Vake continued,
“So, let’s forget about that now. How have you been… Arin?”

Arin’s eyes instantly widened as he clenched his fists.
His thoughts spiralled instantly, considering different possibilities.
‘I’m wearing my mask, so… How did he know…?’
His eyes once again scanned the man as he raised his guard even more than before.
He saw the rapier strapped to the man’s waist, but as he observed further…
That was when he noticed it.
‘Wait… Six stars…’
Arin instantly put the dots together.
There were six stars on the breast pocket of the shirt the man was wearing.
And these six stars could only mean one thing…
‘The Commander of the Sixth team of the Royal Army…’
Arin further clenched his fists. ‘Haha… It seems the King is finally making his move…’
Arin already expected that the King would not come by himself. There were too many things happening in the Kingdom right now for him to personally search for two students.
‘I knew he would send someone or even more than one person, but I never knew he would send a Commander,’ Arin thought.
His gaze suddenly sharpened. ‘Well, it’s not like I’m scared or complaining…’
He stared at Vake before replying:
“I’m fine.”
There was no need to pretend like he wasn’t Arin, after all, the way Vake called his name made it clear that he was sure and certain that he was Arin.
Pretending now would just be him fooling himself.
Vake smirked again. “You really have some guts, disobeying the King’s orders.”
He took a step forward as he added. “Where is the other girl? What was her name…? Yes, Tessa.”
“You both received special items from the King and still disobeyed? How pathetic.”
Arin’s eyes were focused, glued to Vake.
He didn’t know how strong Vake was but he could gauge his strength.
‘The Commander of the First team of the Royal Army should be at the Grade 3 Legendary Rank,’ Arin thought.
He was just using slight informations from the novel to gauge their strength.
‘Assuming the Commander of the Second Unit is weaker than the First Commander, then the Sixth Commander should be at the Grade 3 Star Rank at least.’
Arin inhaled deeply. ‘As for me, if I consider my Vampiric abilities, enhanced physical capabilities, and Chaos Element, then I should also be close to the peak of the Star Rank.’
Arin had all these thoughts in less than three seconds.
“Were you perhaps, looking for me?” Arin asked even though he already knew the answer.
“Of course, I have to bring you and that Tessa girl back to the King,” Vake replied.
His grin widened. “But tell me, a little beating won’t hurt, right?”
Arin just stood, staring at him.
Vake continued,
“You see, I’ve been really stressed lately, and I need to cool off. And for me, I cool off by beating the shit out of others. That’s amazing, don’t you think? I would’ve actually preferred if you and th- huh?”
Vake’s eyes widened a bit.
Just a second ago, he was talking to Arin who was in front of him, but now, Arin was no longer present.
Suddenly…
“Less talk, more action.”
A voice drifted into his ears.
Vake’s head snapped to his right, and there he was.
Arin was already swinging his sword towards Vake’s neck.
The blade cut through the air, making a whizzing sound as it headed straight for Vake’s neck.
But just before it could reach his neck…
BOOM! CLANG!
A thin Earth pillar erupted from the ground, blocking Arin’s sword.
Normally, after this defense, Arin would have leaped back to create distance, but…
“Not now…”
Arin jumped up, spun, and then…
WHOOSH!
His right leg shot out with astonishing speed, moving above the thin Earth pillar.
Vake’s eyes widened. “W… Why is he so fast…?”
He couldn’t even move an inch. The last thing he saw was Arin’s leg.
BAM!
Arin’s leg connected with his head, sending him flying like a ragdoll towards the trees.
Vake’s body continued moving in the air, breaking the trees before he finally fell on the ground, coming to a stop.
His eyes were still widened as he coughed.
“W-what? A… A mere student…? I’m a Grade 2 Star Rank Mage… How…?”
TAP! TAP! TAP!
Vake heard footsteps approaching with speed, forcing him to get up and unsheathe his rapier.
He gritted his teeth as a deep fierce look appeared on his face.
“No! It’s not possible! And I will never let it be possible! You’re just a mere pathetic student and I’ll prove it to you!”
Vake’s eyes locked on Arin who was approaching as he gripped his rapier.
And then…
BOOM!
He shot off the ground, rushing towards Arin.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Every spot Vake’s feet landed on instantly destroyed, boosting his speed.
‘He’s using an Earth Element Spell to destroy the ground, increasing his speed,’ Arin thought, his eyes squinted as he increased his speed.
He raised his sword and slashed.
Instantly, a Water Slash left the sword, rushing towards Vake.
As the Water Slash moved, it split into three as the speed increased.
Vake who was also dashing towards Arin grinned.
His gaze locked on the incoming Water Slashes.
BOOM!
He slammed his right foot on the ground, and an Earth Wall formed in front of him.
BOOM!
The Water Slashes connected with the Earth Wall, causing a booming sound.
Meanwhile, Vake had already dashed round the Earth Wall and was heading for Arin once again.
As for Arin, he didn’t stop for even a second.
They both got closer to each other, and Vake thrust his rapier towards Arin.
WHOOSH!
Arin swung his sword towards Vake, and then…
CLANG!
Sparks flew and a clanging sound was heard as the rapier and Arin’s sword connected.
But Arin wasn’t done.
He suddenly raised his unoccupied left hand, and a purple coloured fireball instantly formed.
Vake’s eyes instantly went downwards, but before he could react…
“Take this…”
BOOM!
Arin struck his chest with the Chaotic Ember Spell, and he was thrown backwards once again.
BOOM!
Vake’s body broke through some trees before coming to a stop.
His clothes were already burning off, but as soon as he landed on the ground, the burning stopped.
Though, the damage had already been done, because…
Arin grinned as he remembered the description of the Chaotic Ember Spell.
[Chaotic Ember: Using Chaos Element Mana, you can summon fireballs that can be launched towards your target.]
[Effects: Once a fireball comes in contact with a target, it inflicts any status ailment of your choice.]
[Status Ailments: Confusion, Corruption, Madness, Fear, Hallucinations, Weakness, Disorientation, Burning.]
Arin’s grin widened.
“I remember complaining that I forgot to test the Chaotic Ember Spell on the Beasts,” he said as he began walking forward. “But now… I can finally test how strong the Spell really is…”
Vake was already getting up, his eyes darting around, searching for his rapier.
Arin stopped walking.
He raised his right hand as his eyes shone with a certain kind of excitement. Vake would be his experimental subject today.
“How about we start with…”
SNAP!
Arin snapped his fingers, and then…
“… Confusion…”
