- Chapter 102 - Chapter 102 Hm, I don't understand
Chapter 102: Hm, I don’t understand Chapter 102: Hm, I don’t understand “So, don’t worry.
If anything comes out of that gate and it’s too much for you guys to handle,” Alice beat her chest with her right hand and her lips curved up in a confident and wide smirk.
“I’ll take care of it just fine.
So, count on me.” *Wow, look at you making the hero speech.* Leo said with slanted eyes and an irk formed on her forehead.
‘Shut it!’ Devon and Mark looked at her for a while, shocked or surprised, any word that could express their expressions from being stunned by her words.
She was such a charmer, did she know that?
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Alice suddenly asked, folding her arms.
“Do you know how hard it was to say that?
No, did I just make a fool of myself?” They laughed and Mark raised his hand to pat her head and said, “You were just too stunning.” He smiled and Alice’s eyes grew.
A thud in her heart made her realize the kind of reality she was in.
A reality where she could say and do whatever she wanted and be tolerated.
A reality where she could see others smile warmly at her, even if she hadn’t done anything yet.
Ah, was this what it meant to be ‘useful’?
She bowed her head, her cheeks slightly flushing.
And why did it feel so good getting a pat like that?
She…
She wasn’t a kid.
So, he shouldn’t do meaningless things like this.
Yet, it felt so good.
So assuring.
But at the same time…
It felt so sad.
It felt like this gesture was a painful experience of her past.
She didn’t like that it was assuring and, at the same time, stifling.
“Mark,” Alice suddenly called softly and looked up at him, for the first time, showing a hint of vulnerability in her eyes.
“You can’t die, okay?” Mark was confused.
Where did that come from?
At this moment, Mark felt she genuinely cared for him and this wasn’t her stomach talking.
It made him happy, really.
And he was even more determined not to die this time.

Devon watched them and then looked away.
It stung for some reason.
If she had come to him and said the same thing to him, would he be happy?
He wondered.
But maybe she wouldn’t bother because he was an S-class with SS-class skills, and was not a weakling like Mark.
‘Hm, I don’t understand.’ he thought to himself, tapping his fingers on his folded arm.
Hmm, maybe if he didn’t think about it, it wouldn’t bother him.
But his eyes always trailed towards them, only for his fingers to grip his arm and force him to shut his eyes.
He sighed.
‘What am I doing?’ “Whoa, it looks like the party hasn’t started yet.” Came the feminine voice of one of the country’s most active female awakened.
Fiona!
They all walked towards the edge to see who was talking and looked down.
“How’s the weather up there?” She asked with a big grin.
Fiona was an A-class awakened that had stats that could be on par with S-class awakeneds.
And just looking at her vibrant self, maniacal smile, and great build, one could tell she belonged to the Red Flame guild with a single glance.
In other words, she was Justin’s guild member who very much liked to cause trouble as Justin did.
She probably got favored for that, her stats and her attitude, and was made Vice guild leader.
“Another troublemaker?” Alice asked, not impressed.
“You can say that again.” Mark exclaimed and Devon sighed.
They already had a lot on their hands with the gate.
Taking on Justin’s maniacal subordinates would just be a hassle.
“Miss Alice, let’s not focus on…” His eyes widened as he could not find Alice on the spot she was standing on.
“Where did she…?” They both looked down to find she had already jumped down.
“Miss Alice, stop being reckless.” They both chorused but Alice could only stick her tongue out and was ‘meh’ about it.
She landed on the floor flawlessly, leaving only a gush of wind to blow over the people standing below.
“I see you came down.” Fiona said with an amused grin, and Alice stretched her arms out.
“Ugh, I feel like I need to take two days off from any action.” She exclaimed and opened her eyes to gaze at Fiona.
“The world’s straining my mental and physical well-being.” *You know that’s not true.* ‘Oh, just shut it.’ Alice walked towards Fiona but before she could step closer, Mark and Devon landed in between them.
“Miss Alice, please don’t do things like this.” Devon said.
“Let’s not pick unnecessary fights and waste energy on irrelevant people.” Mark added, causing Fiona, who could hear them clearly, to get annoyed.
“Hey, I’m standing right here.” She roared.
“If you wanna go, just turn around and we can have a session!” She punched her fist.
“Just what are you guys talking about?” Alice asked, sighing in disappointment.
“Just what do you think of me?” “You…
Didn’t you come down to confront her?” Devon asked.
“Don’t jump to conclusions like that.” Alice said, walking past them and she patted his chest.
“I’m not that impulsive.” As soon as she said that, they looked at her suspiciously.
There was no way they would believe her now.
‘Wait, am I that impulsive?
Why are they looking at me like that?’ *Want me to flash your life before your eyes?
You’re the definition of impulsive.* Alice’s eyes widened in disbelief.
And she went like, “And whose fault is that?” He was literally the one giving her orders to do those impulsive stunts.
Or so she thought.
But a quick flashback to past events reminded her that there were decisions she made without him.
Like the time with the treadmill.
And then there was her reckless charge at the minotaurs.
Let’s not forget when she went for the Griffin’s eggs just because she was hungry, only to be chased down.
Well, most of her actions were driven by impulse and hunger.
Her eyes turned glazed as she reluctantly admitted it.
‘Okay, I see your point.’ she sighed and looked at Mark and Devon.
“But trust me, I’m not doing any of that.
I’m not starting a fight either.
I just…
Want to talk to her.” “Me?” Fiona pointed at herself, lost.
Why did she want to talk to her?
She didn’t work with words but with her fists.
“Why do you want to talk with Miss Fiona of the Red Flame Guild, Alice?” Mark asked and she snickered, showing her true insidious self while rubbing her hands together like an evil mastermind.
“I just want to strike a deal.
Girl to girl.” She glanced at Fiona.
“Just the two of us.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, why does that feel even more suspicious?
