Chapter 103: She just…
didn’t want to cry Chapter 103: She just…
didn’t want to cry Past life Alice “Mark, Mark,” she called but the owner of this name did not turn his head to look at her or stop at his tracks.
He kept walking.
“Mark,” she called once more and suddenly teleported, appearing in front of her.
Mark had no choice but to stop.
He looked at her with cold eyes and said, “Using the powers of a saint for such a cause is very childish.” He simply said and wanted to walk away again but she held her hand up.
“Please, stop.” She said, her eyes glinting with desperation.
“You heard the plan, didn’t you?” She asked but he gave no response and stayed silent, looking down at her and wondering what she wanted.
“If worse comes to worse, you all are going to…” “I know.
I was there.
I heard it and I am scared.” He suddenly said, taking a step closer to her.
His words were forceful and heavy.
His cold expression suddenly fell, replaced by anguish and bitterness.
‘Did he just say he’s…
Scared?’ she blinked her eyes.
Well, of course, he’d be scared.
Who wouldn’t when the end of the world was near as it was?
And to prevent all of humanity from getting wiped out, to prevent the monsters and demons from winning this long time war, they resorted to using the ritual for a saint to grant Alice more powers of a saint.
It was a hard decision but it had to be done.
She, who would carry on their powers as well as their deaths, found it scary and sad.
So, how did the people who would be the sacrifice feel?
She knew it was horrible and so she wished they wouldn’t have to resort to this last resort.
“Mark,” she called and once again called more softly.
“Mark.” Her lips curled up into a soft smile.
Mark stared into her eyes and her beautiful smile but then looked away, gritting his teeth in disdain.
“I understand you never had anyone you cared about but how can you smile at a situation like this?” He asked her.
“Does the world coming to an end mean nothing to you?
Can you still smile and laugh when you have witnessed countless deaths and countless sacrifices?

Just how…” He pursed his lips and then turned around.
“I can’t talk to someone who doesn’t understand.” Alice watched him walk away.
She rubbed her arms lowering her head.
She understood it so much that it hurt her heart with every thought, but would he understand her?
She just…
didn’t want to cry.
“Mark, Mark.” She called softly and looked up, her eyes teary from pain and anger.
“You’re so strong.” She muttered.
The world, as she knew it, had already ended.
She asked herself, even if she ended up defeating the monsters and demons, what would become of the world?
What would they all see to gain from leaving her alone in the world?
Wasn’t that cruel?
Yes, it was scary knowing you will die for another person’s success but…
What about her?
Did they know how she felt, knowing she would be the reason behind their sacrifices and being left alone?
It was more scary than death, having the fate of the whole world, their hopes, dreams, and expectations, on your shoulder when there was even no one to celebrate with at the end.
She sighed and looked up determined.
She would make sure to win and then she would use her wish.
But it takes a little bit more pain and sacrifices for a resolve like that to be strengthened.
“Mark, Mark,” Alice called, her voice soft and pained, repeating his name as that was the only thing she could do.
Mark kept his hands on her shoulders and then, for the first time, he apologized to her.
“Sorry, I was so hard on you.” He said.
“I was just…
Jealous of your smile.” With that, he smiled.
A smile she had never seen before.
Pure, and kind of pathetic.
It tugged at her heart.
“Alice, you have such a beautiful smile.” He said and kissed her lips gently while Alice’s eyes shook in horror.
Why?
Why now?
Why now?
Why did it have to be now?
She almost screamed out these words but there was a lump in her throat.
A lump of gagging tears.
Why did he wait so long to…
When it was too late?
Why?
“Alice,” he called, after breaking his lips from her and slowly took off one hand from her shoulder.
He dropped it on her head, patting it lightly, and brushed it gently.
He said, “Fight and win.
And when this is all over, I hope to see you again.
In another life.” “N-no,” Alice stuttered, her body shaking.
“I don’t…
I don’t want you to…” But her wishes weren’t of any relevance as Mark had made up his mind.
The majority must be sacrificed for the greater good.
He took her hand and jabbed it through his heart.
“Will you smile one last time?
This time…
For me?” He asked, blood rolling down from his lips, and she forced it out.
Forced out a smile at the man who she always wanted to get along with.
The man who had stolen her lips before his death.
The man whom she didn’t know she had feelings for.
She watched him smile at her smile and her heart ached.
“Mark, you…
you’re so cruel.” She said, tears streaming down her eyes.
“And I am so weak.
That is why I have to face everyone’s death with my head up.
I…” She raised her hand and gazed at the blood from Mark’s heart.
Her hands were tainted, her body was dyed crimson, and her heart was lonely.
The people around her had all died to give her their powers to make her a ‘saint’ of all.
But among them all, Mark was the only one who died directly by her hands.
Wasn’t that cruel?
She, therefore, had the power of every single person who had roamed through Earth, flowing through her.
She looked down at Mark.
He died with a smile, gazing at the smile he had been so jealous of all the while they had worked together.
He…
Left her with even more reason to succeed.
(I think I took ‘Died with a smile’ too personally, welp) End the calamity, make a wish, bring back everyone, and live peacefully.
“Then,” she said, closing her eyes.
“…
Shall we begin the final battle, Evil Eye?” (Funny that I was listening to ‘die with a smile’ while editing this, hehe.) CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, let’s not drop to conclusions with this chapter.
Yes, she did like Mark before in her past life.
And she liked Devon too.
The one who gave her the power of teleportation.
She liked different guys om her journey to the end of the world, but it was like the more she liked them, the closer their end was near.
And that’s how I’m formulating her harem.
Note, she liked Devon first before any other person in her past life.
And he was definitely the person who impacted more in her life, making her smile like the world’s trouble could never get to her
