- Chapter 114 - Chapter 114 Ah, you're such a cool grampa
Chapter 114: Ah, you’re such a cool grampa Chapter 114: Ah, you’re such a cool grampa “Gramps?” Alice called, surprised.
What was he doing there?
Adolf raised his hand and gestured for her to come over.
She glanced at the reporters and then walked away from them, releasing the pressure she had on them.
“Hmph!” They felt they could finally breathe.
What just happened?
They were so scared that they lost track of things.
“Gramps,” Alice called quite excitedly and Adolf glanced at the sleeping grifflet in her arm.
How did it manage to sleep through the pressure Alice was releasing?
Even from where he stood, he could feel the pressure and it was quite…
Dangerous.
But he stared at the face of the girl who had released that dangerous pressure and all he could see was a childlike plainness, smiling as she let go of her anger.
“How are you, child?” He asked and she nodded, “Well, I’ve been running here and there, killing monsters and staying out of trouble…
I think,” she brushed the back of her neck, remembering that the council was aware of her little stunt with Big Stach.
“But all in all, I can say I’ve been fine.” “Thank you once again.” He said and she wondered why he was thanking her.
“You saved our lives yet again.” He said.
“And…
Those guys might be stone-headed,” he said, glancing at the reporters who were keeping a distance.
“…but they don’t mean to get you mad.” “I think that guy on the floor meant it every bit.” She said, glancing over her shoulder to the man who still couldn’t stand up because of fear.
“He was trying to put words in my mouth.” “I will apologize on their behalf.” Adolf said but Alice shook her head.
“Please, don’t.
You’re not the one controlling them to make those shitty mistakes.
They have themselves to blame for whatever would befall them.” She said, causing Adolf to stare at her with a raised eyebrow.
She immediately realized why and shook her head frantically.
“No, no.
That’s not what I meant.
I don’t plan to kill or beat up anyone, so don’t look at me like that.” She was flustered, feeling she had made a mistake but he ended up laughing.
“Then, that’s good to hear.” He said.
“Miss Alice, your behavior reflects who you are.
And though you don’t care what the media will do or say, you still have to be cautious.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Try not to hit anyone.” He said, and she threw her face aside, annoyed.
Why couldn’t she hit them?
They were the ones pissing her off.
“At least,” he lowered his voice.
“Don’t do it in public.” Alice’s eyes widened.
Marcus was also stunned, hearing the Chairman’s words.
“Ch-chairman!” He called, “Do not encourage her.” But Adolf could only laugh.
“What?
It is an eye for an eye.
Being benevolent will give humans more reasons to act out of line.
So, the best way to keep them in check is to hit them a few times.” He laughed more.
“Ah, you’re such a cool grampa.” She said, punching his shoulder lightly, but not as light as she thought.
“Ouch.” He said, holding the spot she had punched.
“It seems you want to send this old man to his early grave, young one.” “Oh no, did I lose control of my strength again?” She looked at him concerned.
He was one person she did not want to harm.
“Are you okay?” “Chairman, is it serious?
Do I need to get a healing potion?” Marcus asked frantically, but Adolf waved it off.
“It’s nothing.
Do you think I’m that weak?” But Alice’s punches weren’t that weak either.
Ah, she was worried.
Maybe she should refrain from light playful punches in the meantime.
“So, um, what did you come here for anyway?” She asked.
“I don’t think it’s a code orange yet.” “Oh, someone’s been reading the manual,” Adolf said, quite surprised and Alice darted her eyes away.
Of course, she didn’t.
She just scanned through it with her eyes and let Leo explain it to her.
The manual allows people to understand the situation of a gate break quite well.
And among the content of the manual was the topic ‘code’.
Codes that tallied the situation of a gate break.
Code blue means monsters in the area; do not go near till the awakeneds have cleared it.
Code Green means flying monsters were rampaging and destroying everything in their path, making airplane movements impossible.
Code orange means the situation with the monsters was beyond what the normal awakeneds could handle.
The higher-ups had to step in.
And then code red…
It simply meant the land was lost and no one could do anything about it.
Monsters have taken possession of the land and the skies of that particular region.
“Well, it’s not a code orange but I did want to come and monitor the situation for myself.” He said.
“After all, the situation this time is very odd and alarming.
Two gates opening in the same space and for a blue gate to turn to a red gate at the last minute is just too dangerous to ignore.” “Ah,” Alice darted her eyes away.
“I see.” No one was going to find out that she was the reason why both gates appeared in the same place, right?
Well, they couldn’t possibly know, haha.
“By the way, why don’t the reporters approach you?” Alice asked, looking around to see that they were focused on them but only from a distance, but could not get closer.
“Did I scare them off for you?” “Haha, that would’ve been delightful.” He said, “But this is just one of Marcus’s skills,” Marcus raised his head in pride with his hands tucked behind his back.
“He creates an invisible barrier that doesn’t let just anyone enter.” Adolf explained.
“With him, I don’t need to worry about taking numerous guards with me to ward off the nuisance.” “Whoa, how convenient.” Alice gave him just the kind of praise she saw fit for the bloating head Marcus.
Nothing more, nothing less.
“Tsk, you’re so stingy with your compliment.” Marcus muttered and she tittered.
“Take it or leave it.” She said and just then, the gate behind them, the one the Griffins had come out from, exploded.
Not a harmful explosion but the kind that usually happened to gates.
It dispersed into dust and left like nothing had been there to begin with.
Now, it was just the gate on the rooftop.
Something told her there were still monsters lurking inside.
Whatever was going inside…
She didn’t care.
Yet.
There was no way and no reason that would force her to walk into that gate while it was still infested.
Who knows just what kind of layout it had?
She would wait for the monsters to come out.
“Do you really plan to keep it?” Adolf asked and she turned to him.
“The grifflet.” “Oh, this?” She rubbed its feathering body.
“I want to.” She said.
“And I know it won’t be easy but I don’t want it to become a lab rat for research purposes.
Right now, it’s only a child, so it shouldn’t suffer.
And maybe if I raise it right, it can serve to help and not destroy.” Adolf nodded.
He never knew she had this sentimental side to her.
She was like a little mother, thinking of her child.
“Then, if that is your choice.
I have nothing to say.
After all, I don’t think anyone can stop you.” He laughed and she laughed along.
Then, her eyes glinted, as she remembered his previous offer.
“So, gramps, when are you gonna invite me for dinner?
You can’t go back on your words now, you know that, right?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Creation is hard, cheer me up!
