Chapter 127: Why did that feel like a threat?
Alice went downstairs after taking her bath, thanked Miss Stella for the meal, and stuffed her belly.
She was half full, considering she was almost drained, but she was grateful and ended up ordering take-outs.
Three extra large pizzas and two giant soda to top it up.
All of these were bought with Mark’s credit card, of course.
Hehe.
He was expecting her to buy more but she wanted to save the right to buy more for another day, haha.
Miss Stella still couldn’t understand how she could eat so much and still keep her body as it was.
Well, it must’ve been a benefit she got from one of her skills, she assumed.
“Oh, by the way, I got your uniform.” Miss Stella said, and Alice paused before taking a bite out of the second slice from the third carton.
She had finished the first two cartons, offered them just one slice each as a sign of courtesy, finished one can of giant soda, and had already downed the second till there was half a volume left.
Now, she was on the last carton.
“Oh,” she exclaimed silently and took a gentle bite of the pizza tip.
“My uniform.” Of course, she wasn’t excited at the thought of going to school.
She hated the idea and would keep hating it.
“Keep eating.
I’ll go get it for you.” She said, getting up from her chair and Alice rolled her eyes after her.
“Do I need to try it on?” She asked.
“Why, yes.
We need to make sure it’s a perfect fit and if there’s a need for amendments, we’ll take care of that by tomorrow.” She smiled at her and went to get her bag.
Alice pouted.
No one should have to be parked in a four corner space like sardines just because some old guys decided to create a system that forces kids to learn about their history.
And she was very sure they didn’t even like school.
‘School?
It was so unfair that they had to pack a bunch of adolescents to be under the care of people with failed dreams who wanted to throw their weight and impose the little knowledge they knew on the poor, innocent kids who knew nothing of the world.
Poor souls.’ (Ah, I got a bit of that quote from Wednesday Adams, if you don’t mind) Alice raised her head to look at Mark whose eyes were fixed on his tablet.
He seemed to be busy.
Seriously busy.
She definitely shouldn’t disturb him.

But…
“Hey, Mark,” she called.
She was just too curious to keep quiet about it.
Mark lifted his gaze to look at her, giving her the go-ahead to spill whatever was in his mind.
“Did you enjoy going to school?” She asked and he paused, indicating it wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience.
But something told her he wouldn’t tell her the truth.
“And don’t lie to me just so I can be interested in school.
I can detect lies, remember?” Mark gulped silently.
“I did not enjoy it.” He said.
“But it’s not because it was horrible or anything like that.
I was the one who did not indulge.” He dropped his gaze from her.
“I detached myself from the world, did not participate in all those fun events, and felt the world was a sickening place that should hurry up and end.” Alice was speechless.
Wow, that was deep.
“So, you can’t take my experience of school as an example.
I hated everything as a whole, so…” he rubbed his neck, “Anyway, if you pass through the school and not let the school pass through you, you’ll see that it’s a really fun place.” He smiled at her and her heart warmed up.
“Mark,” she called, “You should smile more often.” She said and stuffed her mouth.
Mark was taken aback.
He should…
Smile more often?
Where did that come from?
Miss Stella came back and Alice rolled her eyes in exhaustion.
She didn’t want to try it on.
The uniform was blue.
Tatin/plaid blue short skirt, white long sleeve shirt, same color bow or tie, and then there were the blazers that were a deep blue.
“Here it is.” Miss Stella said in excitement.
“There’s usually a vest and jacket.
It comes with the seasons, but you can wear whichever and whenever you want.” She smiled, her excitement throwing sunshine sparkles at Alice’s lazy face.
“And then there’s a bow too.” Alice rolled her eyes and started sneaking away while Miss Stella yapped on and on about the uniform, only to be pulled back by Miss Stella’s extended arm.
“I know you’re going to look great in this.” She said, smiling widely with her eyes closed.
Why did that feel like a threat?
Alice was forced to put it on.
She picked up the uniform and went to her room.
Changed into it, wore the vest and the Jacket, all for samples, and even wore the pair of black shoes Miss Stella had so graciously gotten for her along with the uniform.
The skirt was short.
Alice pulled down the back of the shirt.
Was it supposed to be this short?
Well, she didn’t mind wearing short things, but was this how the institutions encouraged the girls to dress these days?
And they still wonder where girls get the idea to dress scantily.
It was quite bold and contradictory.
Sheesh.
*Oh, quit it.
You looked worse when you were walking around with nothing but rags holding up your breasts together and very thin shorts.* Leo scolded her and she darted her eyes aside.
It wasn’t like it was her fault then.
The perfect jail uniform she wore ripped into pieces while she was fighting monsters.
She shrugged.
“Well, I don’t care.” She said.
“But if I walk around the school on this and any creeps walk up to me staring at my skirt, God Help me,” she raised her fist, “I will land their asses in the hospital.” She threatened and opened the door, walking out roughly.
She walked down the stairs and Miss Stella squealed in excitement.
But as soon as she saw Alice’s feet, her face fell and she asked, “Where are your stockings?” She asked and Alice paused on the stairs, not taking another step.
She looked away guiltily and asked, “What stockings?” “Miss Alice, I think you should know one more thing about me.” She said, flames rising from her shoulders.
“I appreciate students who have good conduct and dress properly.
Is that clear?” Alice hid her face with her palm while gasping in disbelief.
It was just uniform testing.
There was no need to be so serious, right?
“Alright, alright.
I’m going to put it on.” She said, running up the stairs.
She entered her room, shut the door, and sighed, bowing her head in exhaustion.
“This is work.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Haha, time to experience the lofe of a teenager for you.
