- Chapter 131 - Chapter 131 Do not be alarmed
Chapter 131: Do not be alarmed Chapter 131: Do not be alarmed “When are we going in?” Alice asked, squatting with her hands supporting both her cheeks while Micheal stood next to her, leaning on the wall.
“You said it was a good idea to wait here.” “Because it’s a good idea.” He said.
She glanced up at him and gave out an exhausted sigh.
She was tired.
She wanted to get some sleep already.
These were her last few days of sleeping however she wanted.
Weekends were precious.
So, she had to hurry up and be done here, so she could get back home.
Gosh, she had so many things to do on her to-do list, and one of them was not to waste more than two hours busting up asses that were distributing demon blood.
But how was she even going to bust asses if she couldn’t get in?
Sigh.
Micheal observed her keenly.
She looked like she would pass out of exhaustion.
Well, it couldn’t be helped.
From where they were, the only way to get into West Avenue’s devil shrine was through the 8 o’clock portal gate they somehow managed to develop.
Of course, it was black market tech that neither the government nor the agency were aware of.
That was how they had always been able to carry out business in secret and no one had found them, even if they wanted.
Micheal just happened to have stopped by a few times in the past so he was well aware of the happenings of this place.
After all, where better to get fresh and quality experiment materials if not the devil’s shrine itself?
That aside, he needed something urgent to fix his mask.
He touched the tiny crack on the forehead section of his mask.
If it was left like that, it could create serious damage and his identity may be revealed.
And even someone like Alice…
He glanced down at her…
Would be able to see through him right away.
That couldn’t happen.
“Miss Alice,” he called and she looked up.
“…
Before you start busting any, ahem, asses, please do tell.
There’s something I need and I won’t be able to get it if you create a mess of things from the start.” “Ah, got it.” She said and stood up, stretching her arms.

“And I won’t start busting asses from the start either.
I need to find what I’m searching for first.” She said and her attention turned to the sizzling forming circle at the center.
“Ah, don’t tell me it’s another gate.” “Do not be alarmed.” He said and she looked at him.
“That is just the portal that will lead us to where we want to go.” He took her hand and took a mask out of his inner pocket that she was sure wouldn’t fit without wrinkling his clothes.
But she didn’t think too much about it and accepted it with her free hand while he still held on to the other.
“Put it on.” He said to her.
“As you know, in a game of cards, you can’t reveal your hands at the start, or you’re bound to play a losing game.” “I don’t really play cards but I get your point.” She forced her hand out of his grip, not that it was ever held captive, and put on the mask.
It was black, quite the contradiction to Michael’s mask.
And just as she always wondered how Micheal was able to breathe and see through the plain mask that covered his entire face, her questions were finally answered.
The wearer could see pretty much everything and it didn’t feel like they were wearing a mask either.
Just a thin piece of material in front of her face that made the outside world less…
Brighter.
“This is pretty convenient.” She said, and Micheal bowed lightly.
“I’m glad you are comfortable with it.” He said.
‘Hey, Leo, do you think I could wear this to school instead of searching high and low for an artifact to distort my appearance?’ she asked.
*Yeah, sure.
Cause the school ground is a masquerade center where no one, and I mean, ‘no one’ will notice you walking around with a black mask glued to your face.* He rolled his eyes and she pouted.
“Well, you didn’t have to be hysterical about it.” She mumbled, causing Micheal to believe there was some sort of inconvenience with the mask.
“Miss Alice, if you feel uncomfortable then…” “Oh, no.
No, I’m comfortable.
Very.” She said and threw her gaze away, mumbling once more but this time to his hearing.
“I just felt a fly buzzing around my ear, that’s all.” “A fly?” *A fly?!* Leo flipped and she sneered.
‘Think about what you’ve done while I’m busy busting crime.’ she said to him, not remorseful of her words at all.
Micheal was still trying to figure out where the fly came from but decided she was joking with him and he caught on too late.
“Were you just trying to step on my toes, eh, Miss Alice?” He asked, drawing close to her and she eyed him.
Why would she want to do that?
But she could see that there was sheer interest bleeding out of his non-existent facial expression.
But she felt she could understand his expressions better now.
Even if she could not see his face, just as she was able to perceive what he was feeling just from his tone and the manner in which he stared at her, it was far more vivid now.
She could almost see his face but it was all a blur.
“Oh,” she noticed the crack on his forehead.
“Did I do that?” “Take a guess.” He drew back, standing straight and she thought back.
Was it when she gave him the head slam?
Well, he deserved it.
He was the one who was trying to piss her off.
*You broke the poor guy’s mask.
Just apologize and stop trying to make up excuses for your actions.* Leo nagged her, and she waved her hands over her ears as if trying to swat a fly.
“Jeez, the fly is back.” She said, rolling her eyes and Leo’s eyes went red with rage.
*Call me a fly one more time and watch me hand over all the most valuable artifacts to the grifflet.* He said and her eyes widened, her mouth gaping in disbelief.
‘You wouldn’t.’ This gave him the upper hand, and he smirked.
*Try me.* Micheal took Alice’s hand once more and said, “Don’t force your hands out again.” He pulled her close.
“It’ll really hurt my feelings.” “And I fail to see how that is my problem.” She said, bobbing her head back.
“Ouch.” She looked away and towards the circle that had formed at the center.
“This means we’re ready to go, right?” She asked and he nodded.
“Yes, but since you’ll be my partner for the night, I have to keep you ‘close’ while we head in.” He said and glanced at his hand holding onto hers.
“So, for now, allow me to hold your precious hands.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, don’t start acting cheesy here
