- Chapter 135 - Chapter 135 I was just telling the truth
Chapter 135: I was just telling the truth Chapter 135: I was just telling the truth As long as they saw the button tag on a customer, and not just any button tag but the exclusive ones.
She noticed a while back that the button tags had different designs.
So, hers must’ve been an exclusive design since they let her in after seeing her spiral button tag.
‘So, Michael must have had an exclusive invitation.’ Alice thought as she walked in.
As soon as she stepped in, she felt like she had walked inside a barrier.
She looked at her hands, feeling her energy, as well as her stats drop.
If her stats were 400 then they dropped to 200.
And if her guess was right, no awakeneds, including S-class’, had stats above 200.
So, this field was made to reduce awakeneds to ordinary humans and prevent fights from breaking out.
Wow, then she was in luck, right?
She just got reduced to the level of an SS-class awakened and so she was still the most powerful even if a foe dared to cross her.
But this feeling…
It had been a while since she felt so…
Weak.
It was quite heavy on her but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle.
She tucked her hands in her jacket and walked straight, following the rich and lousy spenders who couldn’t stop bragging about their fortune and her thoughts were, ‘If you have so much then be a good person in this life and make a person smile.
You don’t have to always swim in gold and bath in diamonds.’ She was a bit disgusted walking in the same lane with people like this, but then she paused, thinking, was she that much different from them?
She got a lot of rewards from the dungeon, and she stacked them in her ring.
However, it was her effort.
It was for her blood and sweat she shed alone in that dungeon but she still gained a lot from it.
If she sold them, she would be a trillionaire right away.
And with that much money, she could help those whose homes were destroyed by monsters.
She could also help those who were suffering from incurable diseases.
She could do so much.
She had so much, yet…
*Stop that useless thought.
You’re way better than them.* Leo lashed at her and she snapped out of it.
*Who was the one who went back to free the kids from a greedy and awful guy like Big Stach?
Who was it that kept showing up to kill monsters even though you could leave it to the professionals and relax?
Who was it that gave away almost all her precious elixirs and healing potions to people she didn’t even know?

Who was it?* ‘You know I had ulterior motives doing most of that.’ Alice said.
*That’s not the point.
It’s the smiles that matter.* He said, surprising her.
*Ulterior motives or not, as long as you saved lives, put smiles on other people’s faces, and never really asked for anything in return shows how much of a great human you are, and you can never, ‘NEVER’ put yourself in the same shoes with those greedy scumbags.* Alice’s heart melted and she was more than glad she was wearing a mask, if not, her expression would’ve been on display.
Her heart raced and she found another reason why her heart would race, even if she had no feelings attached or being hugged, whatsoever.
It was just happiness.
Warm happiness.
(And yes, I believe there is cold happiness.
Lets discuss in the comment section) ‘Jeez, thanks.
Your words really put me up.’ *I was just telling the truth.* He said, trying to act nonchalant after being so pissed that she put herself down to the level of those greedy scumbags.
*You’re a great person.
And believe me, if you weren’t, the world would never put their hopes and dreams on your shoulders, for you to carry on.
Your heart is…
Far bigger than the surface of this world.
Metaphorically speaking, but yeah, its the truth.* Alice pursed her lips.
She had to admit it.
Leo’s words almost pushed her to tears.
Warm and happy tears.
Her heart was bigger than the surface of the earth?
Wasn’t he exaggerating it too much?
He spoke…
so well about her.
She chuckled.
“Thanks.” She muttered.
*Seriously, you’re a human too.
Try to have a little bit of greed.
Like you said, you’re no hero, you’re just answering duty calls.
So, don’t think of giving out all that you have just because it’s what a hero would do.
Even heroes in comics and fantasies don’t give out all they have just because they want to eradicate the world of poverty.
Have you ever seen a poor superhero before?
They fly in their private fighter jets to fight crime.
They have all expensive and crazy stuff, and blah, blah, blah.* Leo wouldn’t stop yapping and Alice already got the hint of it.
Sacrificing all wasn’t the right way to do things.
You gotta uproot the crime from the source and that will stop whatever is impairing justice.
Let the poor ones survive.
‘Let’s discard these thoughts.
I don’t know why I even started thinking of something like this.’ she thought and started walking again.
She got to a door that was covered with a split curtain and two guys standing at the side to pull the curtains aside.
As she approached, they opened the curtains and she walked in.
There was another field that lowered stats by 50.
Just how many precautions were they taking?
Everyone sitting down for the auction had become a normal human whether they liked it or not.
‘How are they even able to do this?’ she wondered.
*Probably using runes.* Leo said.
‘Runes?’ she asked and he went further to explain as she made her way to an empty seat.
*Just like Mark’s training room which had runes that helped to structure the inside to be as big as the house as a whole, this place has a runemaster that reinforces the runes regularly and supports it with numerous mana stones and artifacts.* He explained and she nodded.
‘So, they have a runemaster.’ *Yes.
But no one knows if it’s a slave or a co-owner of this establishment.
After all, this is the devil’s shrine; anything can happen, and no one will seal justice.* Alice twisted her lips.
This was the kind of place she wished never existed.
Those two other districts.
In the yellow and green district, she could only wonder what kind of illegal trades were going on there.
Her mind kept screaming that they were involved in human trafficking and slave trading.
But she couldn’t check it out till she was done with this auction house.
“Welcome everyone,” the commentator, the guy wearing a falcon mask and a top hat, was the presider of this ceremony and he liked to be referred to as the MC.
That’s right, he liked to be called the Main character and everyone else was a side-character in his show.
“We shall start this auction with a splash.
So, hold on to your pockets, your bidding pans,” Alice looked at the bidding stick laid flat on her chair’s handle, “…and get ready as the Pagoda’s house will officially start its auction.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah So, who else thinks Alice gives herself lesser credit than she deserves?
anyway, y’all, reminding you to gift, comment and vote, hehe.
And also, don’t forget to give points to your favorite character, ahem, Alice
