- Chapter 143 - Chapter 143 I was scared for you all of a sudden
Chapter 143: I was scared for you all of a sudden Chapter 143: I was scared for you all of a sudden “The only people who have the guts to find trouble and not worry about trouble finding them back are those with power, connections, and strong backers.” He said and finally stopped in front of a room door.
“And, of course, the brainless idiots who don’t value their lives, haha.” He sounded amused as he said that and Alice wondered what category she belonged to.
She definitely had power, right?
So she could fit in the category of power.
But she thought wrong.
Micheal opened the door with the key, pulling her in and then shutting it.
“And you, my dear,” he pushed her to the door and dropped his hand on it, pinning her to that position, “Are in neither of those categories as of now.
So,” he leaned his masked face closer to hers and asked, “Shall we get to business?” Alice looked him directly in the eye.
At least, that’s what she felt she was doing since she couldn’t really see his eyes thanks to the creepy mask he was always wearing.
She sighed and asked, “Just what kind of business are you talking about?” Her tone was lazy as she felt the need to sit down somewhere and take the mask off, but Micheal moved his face closer to hers.
“What kind of business could go on in an empty room of a prostitution house?” He asked and she shut her eyes.
He was teasing her again, wasn’t he?
He was so childish sometimes.
She could vividly feel his amused smirk and felt this must’ve looked like a game to him.
As if having to listen to the stupid moans of those degenerates downstairs who only knew how to think with their lower body wasn’t enough; she just didn’t want to get irritated any further.
‘Ugh, I think I need to wash my eyes.
How can I unsee all of that?’ she grunted.
Anyway, that aside, he mentioned the categories of powerful people in the devil’s shrine yet she wasn’t in it.
Not the wealthy or powerful either.
In other words, causing trouble would only be a bad thing for her, even if she was the strongest human on Earth?
Just how did that make sense?
Was there some kind of ranking system she needed to participate in?
Oh, right.
She didn’t care.
Her main business was to find the supplier of the demon’s blood and then get rid of the ones in her possession.
Yeah, once she was done with that, as well as collecting her balance from the auction house, she doubted she would have a reason to return in the future.
“Why are you being distracted?” Micheal suddenly asked and she raised her gaze to him.
“What?” Alice asked, tilting her head.
Micheal suddenly reached his hand to her, his fingers trailing lightly on her neck, probably having some kind of intentions but she smacked his hand off.
“Well, we’re here now, and the only business I can remember coming here for is this.” She pointed at her mask.

“So, can I take it off now?” She asked, intentionally brushing off whatever intentions he had, and he clicked his tongue, folding his arms.
“You’re so unromantic, Alice.” He said and she gladly took that as a compliment, smirking to herself.
“You’re welcome.” She walked past him and took off the mask, feeling she was alive again.
This kind of magic mask, though comfortable, had its way of robbing its victim of fresh air.
As soon as she took off the mask, Michael’s eyes widened.
“What happened?” He asked, rushing towards her.
“Did you get hit in the face?” Alice looked at him with a listless expression, blinked her eyes, and asked, “Did you think my hands would’ve been clean if someone had actually hit me in the face?” She tossed the mask down and sighed.
“I just got a nosebleed, it’s no big deal.” Micheal stared at her nonchalance about it and sighed.
It didn’t seem to be a big deal as she said, but…
He bent down to pick up the mask.
“Good grief, I was scared for you all of a sudden.” He said and got up, staring at the mask.
It was soaked from the blood that dropped from her nose.
‘So, this was why she said it was urgent.’ his eyebrows twisted.
“Hey, do you carry a handkerchief around?” Alice asked, and he looked up to see her pinching her nose, which happened to still be dripping.
Ah, just how much was she going to bleed, and how had she been acting so normal while walking around with a bleeding nose?
Sorry to say but it worried him how she was so nonchalant about something that could blow into a big deal.
A nosebleed could lead to respiratory distress, and though that didn’t happen, seeing she could breathe fine even when it was going on, it was still dangerous.
And then there was anemia.
“Well, do you?” Alice asked, flapping her hands and breaking him out of his thoughts.
“If you don’t, I could just use the sheets.” She added, pointing at the neat sheets on the bed.
“Right, I do.” Maybe it was because she was awakened that something like a nosebleed didn’t seem like a problem to her, but that could also mean she was negligent as to what could happen to her mortal body.
“Here,” he quickly tucked his hand into his inner pocket, took out his velvet color handkerchief, and handed it to her.
“Thanks.” She took it and first cleaned her mouth before blocking her nose with it.
‘I really think I should start carrying daily necessities in my ring.’ she thought.
*Ah, you finally thought that far.* ‘Don’t start.’ Alice’s eyes glazed and she sat down.
She finally had the chance to glance around the room.
It was neat and quite…
Stylish.
There was a light shade of pink as its theme.
Why the romantic vibe when all the occupants would do was shove their bodies together?
There were soft and light material curtains, and then roses spread all over the floors, which she was just noticing, of course.
Well, all in all, it was definitely a place where people would come to have sex.
Knowing this, she suddenly started feeling awkward, knowing she was in such a place with a guy.
He had teased her about it but he knew he had no intentions.
Because if he did, he would’ve made a move instead of just teasing her.
Maybe try to take off his clothes while he is at it.
She glanced at Micheal only to find him taking off his coat and her eyes widened.
Wait, why was that on cue with her thoughts?
“What…
What are you doing?” Alice asked and Micheal looked up at her.
“It’s a bit stuffy, and while we’re here, I decided to get a little ‘comfortable’ but relax; I have no plans of taking off the rest.” He said, smirking in amusement once more.
‘What could you do anyway?’ she glanced away from him.
Well, they did come here to get some privacy where no eyes would see, but it was not for that kind of privacy, so she could rest assured that he just wanted to get a little comfortable.
But why was he standing like a wooden board while staring at the door?
He was like some kind of bodyguard or…
A statue would fit better.
Her gaze fell on his shoulders.
Ah, yes, a statue.
A nice firm statue.
