Chapter 149: Find the person Alice has strong emotional connections to Chapter 149: Find the person Alice has strong emotional connections to “Alice,” Devon called but Alice stayed silent, They listened to what she had to say and felt she was indeed taking on far too much responsibility for a girl her age.
Sure, she was the one holding the power; if they dropped it all on her shoulders, it would start to become a burden, and she could fall into depression.
And it was even worse when they, the grown-ups, had to depend on her.
“Alice, you don’t have to feel responsible.
We’ll take care of the rest.” Devon said but Alice raised her head, looking at them with a listless expression, and said, “That won’t change anything.” She looked extremely gloomy.
“In the end, people are still going to die and they will point fingers.
They will blame me.” Since when had Alice cared about what others thought?
Well, it could be seen as her getting mature and knowing what having the lives of everyone on her shoulders meant, but it was odd.
Too odd to be considered normal.
Something was definitely off.
“I don’t want to do anything.” Alice said.
“I just want to sit here and do nothing.
I want to sleep.” Her gloomy face got even darker.
“But I can’t do that.
They’ll blame me.
They’ll all blame me.” Mark stepped closer and shook his head.
He knew for certain that something was wrong and his suspicions were confirmed when Micheal said, “It seems a monster already found its way through that gate.” They all turned to him.
His gaze was fixed on Alice who sat on the floor, hugging her legs and acting like a sad little girl.
“What do you mean by that?” Devon asked and he turned to them.
“You’ve heard of demons, right?” Micheal asked.
“You mean creatures of the underworld?” Mark asked but Micheal tilted his head.
“In this case, they don’t exactly come from the underworld.
But since you can grasp what they are, then I can continue.” He said.
“The recent abnormal phenomenons have been thanks to these demons.
They’re riling up the monsters and that’s why we’re seeing overpowered monsters that only Alice can take care of.” “Wait, how do you know about this?” Devon asked.
“Is this information real?” “Well, real or not, we have to blame something, don’t we?” He glanced at Alice.
“Right now, I believe Alice is under the influence of a demon, not a monster and it came out through that gate up there.” He pointed at the rooftop.
“If my guess is right, it made sure to target the most powerful person.” “I still don’t understand how you’re able to make up these theories.
Demons, I can believe, but saying the demon is responsible for Alice’s sudden mood drop makes me skeptical.” Mark said.
“Yes, she doesn’t normally care and would never beat herself down for something like this but there’s no fact that says a demon is behind this.” Micheal went silent and so did the other two.

He sighed.
“Then, while you’re ‘skeptical’ let’s think of a way to break her out of whatever she’s feeling right now.
Because the longer we leave her to drown in these doubts and uncertainty then the harder it’ll be to snap her out of it.” Though they had no idea where Micheal got his deduction from, they knew they had to do something.
Alice was in danger and this was the one time they could actually do something to save her.
She had been saving them all the while, so it was their turn.
“What must we do?” Devon asked.
“Find the person Alice has strong emotional connections to and bring them here.” He said, and Mark, as well as Devon, went blank.
“What?
You don’t know who it is?” “I think that will be a problem.” Devon said.
“Alice doesn’t hold strong emotional ties to anyone.” “Are you sure about that?” Micheal asked, surprised about that.
Well, he wasn’t too surprised.
He did not take her for someone who went buddy-buddy with every single person who crossed her path.
“There has to be someone she’s close to,” Mark thought deeply.
Could he count as one?
But before he could get ahead of himself, Micheal added, “Besides you two, that is.
You two don’t seem to hold a strong enough emotional connection to reach her deeply.” Mark’s hopes fell.
Then, what were they going to do?
They all fell into deep thoughts and just then, Florida approached with two girls beside her, laughing like a cricket.
“What’s this?” They all turned to her.
She had a proud grin plastered on her face.
She glanced at Alice, folded up on the floor, and laughed even more.
“It seems someone put that proud and arrogant little brat in her place.
Who was it?
You have my thanks.” They took a long look at her and turned away, ignoring her.
They had more important things to think about than to answer her.
She clearly looked like she was there looking for trouble.
“What about that girl she tried to save?
The one from her old den.” Micheal asked and Florida realized they were ignoring her.
“Are you really ignoring me right now?” She asked but her voice went to deaf ears.
“You mean Diane?” Mark asked and Micheal nodded.
“She seemed to care about her a lot.
Maybe she could work.” Micheal said and turned to Devon.
“Could you teleport to where she is and get her right away?
We can’t let things fall any deeper than this.” Florida was mad.
How dare they ignore her?
Did they realize who she was?
She took out her whip and aimed for the weakest among them.
Mark.
But before her whip could touch him, Micheal caught it and said, “Careful.
If you play with a snake, you’ll get bitten for sure.” He let go of the whip and went back to what he was saying, directing his words to Mark.
“You know where she is, right?
You should go with Devon and get her.” “You want me to leave Alice here alone?
I can’t do that.” Mark strongly disagreed.
“She’s not alone.
I’m here with her.” Micheal said.
“And you will be back by her side in no time, so stop acting like I’ll suddenly kidnap her.
We’re all fighting for one cause here.” Mark clenched his fists.
He didn’t want to go.
He glanced at Florida, who had her arms folded, her hips tilted, and waiting to enter the picture.
He glanced at Alice.
Would it really be okay to leave her with Micheal in this sort of situation?
He wondered but he had no choice.
“I’m leaving her in your hands this time.” He said and put his hand on Michael’s shoulder, sternly saying.
“Do not let her get hurt.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah So, things don’t go the way I planned.
