- Chapter 151 - Chapter 151 I was asked to go to school
Chapter 151: I was asked to go to school Chapter 151: I was asked to go to school “I have so much to say to you.” Diane said.
Micheal watched them and looked away, pondering.
He was next to Alice the whole time, so how did Lilith set a trap that he did not notice?
Micheal was well-versed with monsters and demons.
You could say mage-type awakened liked to go deeper into research than the research and alchemy institute of the awakened agency.
He has encountered a demon once.
It was fascinating, honestly and he made sure to study more about them.
The one he had come across seemed to have been a demon from some lost legends, so he wondered, what if the demons that would appear were demons from legends?
According to his research of demons, he could faintly tell the kind of spells and tricks they were using.
He had also cultivated his senses to know when Demons were around or not.
But it would seem this one sneaked past his nose and attacked Alice, who had high perception underneath his nose.
Even if he did not see it coming, she should’ve seen it.
But for some reason, neither of them did.
Then, that meant this foe was a tricky one if she was this good at manipulating the most powerful person’s emotions.
“Alice,” Diane called.
“You know, the rest of the kids are living well.
They’re getting adopted by the agency.
It was by choice, though.
None of us are that normal and even if we aren’t awakeneds, we can still be considered ‘dangerous’ in the presence of other ordinary humans.” She clenched and unclenched her fists, pursed and released her lips, wondering if her words were helping at all, since there was no reaction from Alice.
“They didn’t want to be adopted by families who would see them as monsters as time passed and…” She paused, reaching her hand towards Alice to stroke her hair.
“Well, they’re happy where they are right now.
Alice, you look so much prettier right now.
I would tease you for your looks but you’re looking so good that I can’t think of anything to tease you with.” She chuckled lightly but heavily at her heart.
Why did such a thing have to happen?
She shut her eyes tight.
Mark and Devon quietly watched, also wondering if this would work.
But more than anything, they wanted it to work.
If someone like Diane could not get through to her then what were they going to do next?
They couldn’t think of anything.
But Micheal started thinking ahead.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
If Diane talking to her does not help anything then he would have to switch methods.
Maybe with a certain ‘stimulation’ they would be able to wake her up.
‘How about grilled cheese with chicken toppings?’ he wondered.
Of course, he had heard of Alice’s love for food, so maybe that would wake her if an emotional speech did not work.
“And you know what?” Diane continued.
“I was asked to go to school, can you believe it?” She laughed.
“I mean, that was the worst place ever for all of us, you remember right?
It was hell, but well, I want to try it out.” She slowly lowered her gaze.
“I heard it’ll be fun so I’m gonna try to enjoy it, like any normal person would.
I’m gonna make a lot of friends and even if monsters appear, I’m not gonna be afraid because I feel confident that nothing can stop me if I put my mind to it.
You taught me that, remember?
I am going to live happily, and it’s thanks to you.
Can you believe it?” She laughed more but tears had slowly started rolling down her cheeks.
She had so much to say.
So many things to say, and even with all she had said, it didn’t seem like she was touching that topic yet.
What she really wanted to say, deep in her heart, she wanted to spill it.
“Alice,” she raised her gaze and noticed that the color had gradually begun to return to Alice’s face.
Her face lit in excitement, and she turned to Micheal, who gave her a go-ahead signal.
She turned back to Alice, cleaned her tears with her palms, and continued, “One doesn’t have to be a worldwide hero to be a hero, Alice.
Just having you look out for us was more than enough.
Your heart is so big, Alice.
So big that everyone could fit in it.
So,” The tears slowly slid down her eyes.
Even if she wanted to stop them, she couldn’t.
“You don’t have to feel responsible.
Just do the little you can and leave the rest for the professionals, haha.
And by the professionals, I’m talking about the people who are trying so hard to make you happy.
Do not feel burdened, Alice.
No one wants you to feel you should be responsible.
The only one you are responsible for is yourself.
You are a kid, so live like it.” She hugged her.
“I want you to be free, just as you set us free, Alice.” At the mention of that, Alice snapped.
More like a cord in her head snapped, and she recalled Diane’s words from her previous life.
The Diane that would do anything for her to make her a free man.
The Diane that had to give her life in exchange for her, so she could live.
So she could be free.
It was never your fault, never is, and never will be.
“Diane?” Alice called, her eyes returning to normal, and Diane moved back, breaking the hug, and gave out a relieved laugh.
“You’re back.” She said, “You’re one heck of a troublemaker, Alice.
You had me worried.” She said, punching her shoulder.
“You even had me say those embarrassing things.
Gosh, I can never show my face in public again.” Though she said that, Alice could see the relief in her eyes.
‘Look at you, you were crying, weren’t you?’ Alice wondered in her thoughts.
“What happened?” She asked and looked up at Micheal and the rest who were staring at her, looking relieved and at ease.
“There’s one more thing I want to say first.” Diane added, bringing Alice’s gaze back to her.
She was pretty sure she had heard everything while in that half-conscious state.
“I wanted to apologize.” She said.
“That day, I didn’t look at you like that because I was scared of you.” She shook her head.
“I was never scared of you and will never be scared of you.
Seriously, you’re like a cockroach.
How could I be scared of you?” Alice’s eyebrows furrowed and she tilted her head.
“Seriously, a cockroach?” Diane laughed and Alice delt waem.
She was glad that that had not been the case after all.
Leo was right.
Just then, Florida -humiliated and disgraced, her beef growing ever more and a certain dark energy surrounding her- glared at Alice and the girl next to her.
She grunted, growled under her breath, and clutched her whip tightly.
“You…
I will get you for this.” She growled under her breath.
