- Chapter 157 - Chapter 157 You're excluded
Chapter 157: You’re excluded Chapter 157: You’re excluded Though it looked like the world was crashing just from the noise that was a few miles away, thanks to the gate that was sizzling with lightning and cackling like loud thunders, threatening to tear the sky into two, these four were in one spot staring at each other’s faces while waiting for a man-made silence to be broken.
After Alice’s words, they just went silent, fists clenching and processing the contents of her words.
And Alice, well…
She pretty much liked the silence.
As long as they weren’t trying to throw themselves at each other for a reason she completely didn’t understand.
She glanced at Mark who had his eyebrows furrowed but eyes on the ground.
She couldn’t tell what he was thinking but she surely knew that he was mad about something.
And then she shifted her gaze to Devon, who fixed his own gaze on her with pursed lips.
He looked like he wanted to say something but halted and left whatever he had to say in his thoughts.
But he still looked so fine, when looking so conflicted like that.
And then there was Micheal, standing behind her.
Apparently using her as a shield against the two who had caught them in the act.
It was just a kiss though.
She thought and subconsciously parted her lips lightly.
A long and savory kiss.
Well, at least she didn’t feel disgusted about it.
Yes, she didn’t take it as a big deal but there used to be a time when she saw kissing as disgusting.
Like why would two people enjoy mixing their salivas together and making those weird noises?
It was crude.
But that thought faded with time.
She didn’t really have time to be thinking such things anyway.
And now, what to do about this situation?
Should she just kiss all of em to call it even?
‘Leo, can I get a skill that lets me read minds?’ she asked him and he sighed.
*Be lucky to encounter a monster that’ll let you read minds and then you’re good to go.* He said, causing her to nod.
*But as for this situation…
I don’t even know what to say.
You all have problems and you created this mess…
Solely.

Anyway, deal with it yourself and then start looking for the demon.
It’s not safe.* ‘Ah, that’s right.
Let me use that excuse to get out of this.’ She smirked and then cleared her throat loudly.
“Ahem,” this caught all their attention and they snapped out of their thoughts.
“There’s a gate that needs my attention just up there and…
You guys need to help.” “You need…
Our help?” Mark asked with an uncertain tone and she nodded.
“Yeah.
While I’m dealing with the monsters, I need you guys to make sure there’s no one hiding around and none of it gets out of the premises.” She explained, which made sense, but would anyone really be able to get out of her radar?
Alice stared at them as they contemplated silently.
Wait, so even this wasn’t enough to break them out of their thoughts?
Just what were they thinking about?
“Alright,” Micheal said.
“Then, shall we go?” “Ah, you’re excluded.” Alice suddenly said, turning her head to glance at him.
“Hm?
Why?” He asked, not able to understand if there was a particular reason why she would exclude him.
And then she pointed at Florida on the floor.
They all turned their gaze to her.
Ah, it finally came to their notice but why was Florida looking so different?
And what were those weird red veins bulging out of her skin?
She also had this pungent smell.
Gosh, it was disgusting.
They didn’t have time to notice since they were focused on Alice’s matter all through.
“And?” Micheal asked, shifting his gaze back to Alice who said, without an expression on her face, “Get rid of it.” Mark and Devon’s eyes widened.
What was she talking about?
“Wait, Alice, what’s going on?” Devon asked and certainly, she expected it.
She turned to him, smiled, and said, “She’s no longer human.” Her words shocked them.
What did she mean by that?
Their expressions screamed confusion, and she approached, swinging her legs before her as she made her way towards them and stopped, standing in between them.
“She took something she should never have taken.
And now, she’s no longer human.
If we leave her be, she will kill thousands of innocents, and then what?
The best thing would be to get rid of her.” She said and glanced at Devon.
“Do you trust me?” Devon’s eyes, which were supposed to be fixed on Alice’s eyes, seeking if he could trust what she was saying, moved down to her lips, and he gulped.
As soon as he did that, he shut his eyes, looked away, and sighed.
“I do.” He said.
“Go ahead.
Go to where the red gate is, Mark and I will follow from behind.” Mark had no objections to that.
He didn’t really care if someone had to die for no reason and if given a reason, even better.
So long as they had nothing to do with him and he wasn’t doing the one doing the killing.
“Alright, then.
I’m off.” She bent down a bit and took off, leaving dust and breeze behind her.
Devon watched her.
He watched while twitching his lips and searching the skies for her remains.
He dreaded his thoughts but he could not do anything about it.
When Alice said she could kiss anyone, Devon asked in his thoughts, ‘Even me?’ That question sprung up in his heart and he didn’t even know where it came from.
Seeing Alice kiss someone else seemed to have ignited a flame in his heart.
A feeling he didn’t know he had.
He had never felt jealous in his life.
He was always content, even if he had nothing.
He had always been a very kind and generous person, even before his Awakening.
He was so benevolent.
So maybe that was why he had a secret light attribute that he had yet to use.
But that aside, that pang he felt in his chest made him realize what jealousy felt like and he focused his gaze on Alice’s lips.
His throat suddenly went dry and he had this urge to wet them.
But not with his own lips but hers.
He rebuked himself for having such thoughts, but what could he do when the feelings had already started sprouting in his heart before he even realized it?
He cursed himself for feeling that way towards a teenager.
A girl who was the same age as his younger brother.
He cursed himself more for not rebuking her words but instead agreeing to them because it would someday favor him if ever his feelings took control of him.
‘Is this the devil speaking in my mind?’ he thought, dreading his own thoughts as he watched the empty skies after her departure.
Just how could he have such thoughts?
