- Chapter 168 - Chapter 168 Our job here is done
Chapter 168: Our job here is done Chapter 168: Our job here is done As Leo flew to chase after Alice, he had no idea they were being watched, right from the start.
“Huhu,” a lady’s light chuckle escaped her red lush lips as she slowly smirked while swinging her long and delicate legs.
It looked like she was sitting on dark clouds while staring at whatever action was going on below.
“Lady Lilith,” a man, or a demon, rather, called, and the lady, who giggled, turned to face him.
He was her butler and of course, this lady was Lilith.
The real one.
“What is it, Heimer?” She asked, The butler, Heimer, was equally a demon with grey skin.
He was buff and very respectful to his lady.
He practically worshiped her.
“Are you out of the game at this point?” Heimer asked and Lilith nodded.
“Very much so.” She turned her gaze to the two in her line of sight.
“I carried out my orders most excellently, don’t you think?” “Yes, but that last part was not part of the plan.
What…
Changed your mind?
And why did you warn her?” Lilith went silent and then laughed.
“Of course, it wasn’t part of the plan.” She said.
“But you know, my nose never lies to me.” “Yes, my lady.
You have the best perception skills as well as a nose that sniffs out all.” He said as if singing her praises but he was simply telling the truth.
Lilith was able to tell a white cloth from a white cloth with a single sniff.
To others, they are both white but she can definitely tell the difference with her nose alone.
“She smelled nice.” She said and smiled.
“She smelled like…
Azrael.
Of course, I could be mistaken since it’s next to impossible, but when I saw that look in her eyes just before she got taken over, I knew right away that I wasn’t mistaken.
So, I left her a gift.” “A seed?” “Not just any seed, ‘the’ seed.” She said and then sighed.
“Anyway, I made a little change to my plans last minute and warned her.
A good deed on my path, if you ask me.
Now, it’s left for her to do the rest.
I am officially out of the game.” Heimer stared at the girl headed for the gate and wondered, ‘How does she smell like Lord Azrael?’ he couldn’t pinpoint anything.
Lord Azrael was a demon.

One of the arch demons of the demondom, directly under the crooked beings.
And Lord Azrael hated demons so he could not even think of the possibility that that could be…
“Do not use rationality to think through everything, Heimer.” Lilith said, tilting her head back and smiling at him, her red eyes glowing in delight.
“You’ll only end up missing the main point.” She dropped her head.
“And of course, the fun of it all.” Whatever his lady meant, he did not understand but if she said not to use rationality to think, then did that mean that that young lady was…?
“Let’s go.” Lilith said.
“Our job here is done.” “Yes, my lady.” He bowed.
Alice got out of the gate first and landed on the ground.
She looked up at the gate that was in mid-air and noticed Leo wasn’t out yet.
She gloated and did a victory dance.
“Yes!
Eat that, Leo.” She proudly announced, only to feel multiple eyes on her.
She slowly turned around to find different people staring at her, silently and shockingly.
‘Wait, did I go through the wrong portal?’ she wondered, confused.
Leo came out of the gate right after and landed next to Alice.
He swiped his hair back while shoving his fingers through.
“You shouldn’t gloat when you cheated.” He said to her, only to find her frozen in her spot.
He turned and saw the people staring at them and palmed his face right away, turning away.
“Oh, shit.
There was this.” He exclaimed, and before they knew it, the people, reporters, of course, started looking for ways to crowd the awakened who had just exited the gate.
But the guards from the awakened agency were doing their best to hold them back.
Seeing the outroar, they both started taking slow steps back.
“Leo, let’s make a run for it while we still can.” Alice whispered.
“Good idea, I’m right behind you.” He responded.
The gate in mid-air started sizzling and cackling.
It was getting ready to shatter, and it disappeared just as it came.
“I think this is the right time.” Leo said, seeing the reporters were slowly breaking through, attacking with questions that one wouldn’t be able to answer straight, even in an exam.
The only way was to flee.
But just as they were about to, Adolf approached.
“Alice,” he called and she turned to him.
He was approaching with his assistant, who had set up the barrier to avoid unwanted people into their ‘bubble’.
“Gramps,” she called.
“What are you doing here?” “It was a code red emergency.” He said.
“And though I know you are capable, I couldn’t sit at home while you faced these things yourself.
Especially not after what happened to you earlier.” Alice paused.
Ah, did they inform him about her emotional outburst already?
It had to be Mark.
“How do you feel?” He asked her and she smiled.
“Never better.
I got back at the thing that made me like that, so it’s settled.” She proudly said, and Adolf nodded, relieved.
But then, he noticed Leo standing behind her with his hands in his pocket and his gaze on the sky, observing the gate particles that spread harmlessly about.
“I don’t think I’ve seen a face like that before.” He said, and Alice turned to Leo, who also noticed they were talking about him and dropped his gaze.
“Is he a friend of yours?” “Ah, yeah, a friend.” Alice answered.
“He’s a boy, and my friend, haha.” She awkwardly said for some reason and Adolf, who felt she was trying to hint at something, closed his eyes and nodded.
“It’s such a shame.
I really wanted to introduce you to my grandson.” He said and she tilted her head, lost.
He noticed and laughed softly.
“I know it’s awkward trying to explain to this old man but I understand even if you don’t spill it.” Alice tilted her head, completely lost.
‘Hm?
What does he understand?’ *No idea.
Just nod and pretend you understand so we can get out of here already.* Leo suggested and she nodded, taking it as a great idea.
“Yes, yes.” She said, but it was clear that she was forcing a response, and Leo palmed his face.
“It’s been a long night.
I won’t hold you back any longer so hurry up and leave with your boyfriend, so you can retire early.
Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything here.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Hm, gramps is already thinking ahead, lol
