- Chapter 177 - Chapter 177 You're so violent for a lady
Chapter 177: You’re so violent for a lady Chapter 177: You’re so violent for a lady Devon was a bit lost but given how Alice bickered with Leo, given how they exchanged words so harshly yet playfully, and the expressions she made all together, he was sure of it.
“So,” he spoke up, attracting both their attention.
“…Is Leo the owner of the voice that you often talk to in your head?” Leo snickered.
“Good grief.” He said and released his folded arms.
“I knew you were smart but you’re taking this to another level.” He stretched out his hand with a proud grin.
He said, “You got that correct.
I’m the familiar of this brat but it’s nice to make your acquaintance.” Devon, still a bit confused, saw this as a green light and he took out his hand to shake hands with Leo.
“I feel flattered by your remark but…
I don’t think it was that hard to guess.” He said.
“Yeah, since Mark could also guess it.” Leo said.
“Wait, Mark guessed it?” Alice asked and Leo sighed.
“And here we have one who isn’t among the ‘smart’ people list.” He exclaimed in ridicule, but Alice’s eyes blazed, and she set her elbow, ready to crush his ribs.
But as if knowing what she would do, he set his palms in position and deflected her attack, shielding his innocent ribs.
“Oh my, did that infuriate you?
You have so much to learn, you little brat.” He said but did not know when Alice kicked the back of his knee, causing him to falter, and so she succeeded in kicking his chin and sent him flying.
“Cocky bastard!” Alice said with irritation in her tone, like a street thug, but she turned 180 degrees in character once she turned to Devon and asked, “You said you had something to discuss with me?” Devon looked at her smile but told himself he couldn’t be fooled.
He saw what she did to Leo so she…
Was far from innocent.
He just needed to be careful with her, that’s all.
“Ah, yes.” He said.
“Let’s go down first.
Mark said your food is ready so we can talk while you eat.” “Oh, food is ready already?
Let me just brush my teeth first.
I’ll be down soon.” She said and he nodded.
He expected her to go in right away, but to his confusion and somewhat surprise, she went to drag Leo by the collar again.
“Get up, you lazy bag of bones.
I need to brush my teeth.” She said and to which Leo, lazying around, asked, “Then go brush your teeth.
Leave me to whither on the soil of despair.” He said like a drama queen and she rolled her eyes.
“Why don’t I bury you in the land of despair instead?” She asked and Leo cleared his throat.
“You’re so violent for a lady.” He said and she clicked her tongue.

“And you’re so stubborn for a handsome face.” She said and threw him into her room.
She turned to Devon, smiled, and said, “I’ll be down in a minute.” She shut the door and Devon stood there, staring into space and he asked no one in particular, “Why does she need to drag him along if she wants to brush her teeth?” He could not find the answer to that and certainly couldn’t knock to get an answer either.
He decided to go down first and wait for her to get down.
Maybe if he took a moment of silence, he would be able to guess the reason.
As he made his way down the stairs, he heard Mark cussing out in annoyance.
He shut his eyes, wondering if it was Alice’s situation that had him cussing or if he accidentally stomped his pinky toe on the edge of the table.
Awakened or not, it could happen and it hurt quite a lot.
Mark noticed Devon coming down the stairs and asked, “Is she coming down yet?” Devon nodded.
“Yes, but she wanted to brush her teeth first since she just woke up.” He said and fixed his gaze on Mark who decided to get himself busy.
He asked, “Did you fight with Leo?” Mark flinched as he paused what he was doing.
Devon noticed this reaction and even if Mark were to suddenly deny it, there was no denying that something went on between them.
“And how is that any of your concern?” Mark asked, continuing his movements.
He carried the plates from their racks and started placing them on the dining table.
“You just…” He shook his head.
“Never mind.” Mark eyed Devon for a minute and then sighed.
Everyone was being so intrusive lately, huh?
It took about two more minutes before Alice rushed down, teeth thoroughly brushed and Leo tailing her from behind as if he had a rope tied around his waist which Alice kept tugging at.
He looked disgruntled and honestly didn’t want to partake in her frenzy for food.
She could hurry on without him but she just had to hold on to his hand and lead him down with her.
‘If I fall down the stairs, will that kill me?
I want to commit suicide for some reason.’ He thought, and Alice stopped.
She turned to him, stared for a few seconds, and tilted her head.
“You’re so strange.” She said out of nowhere, making him lost.
She let go of his hand and he watched her walk like a normal human being towards the dining table.
What actually made him lost wasn’t her bizarre statement all of a sudden, it was her sudden fall in expression.
Her excitement had vanished in the blink of an eye, replaced with tranquil sadness.
Was that it?
He scratched the back of his head.
He couldn’t get it.
Was it something he said that made her feel that way?
“Good afternoon, Mark.” She greeted him with a hearty smile.
“How was your morning?” “It was fine, Alice.
Thank you for asking.” He said and then subtly raised his gaze to spy on Leo, who was brushing his chin and trying to figure out what he said that made Alice suddenly make a turn.
“Hope you enjoy your meal.” Mark said, smiling at her.
