- Chapter 193 - Chapter 193 We're almost at your house
Chapter 193: We’re almost at your house Chapter 193: We’re almost at your house Alice opened her eyes, groaning softly.
“Are you awake?” She heard Devon’s voice and slowly raised her head to find him staring at her with a soft gaze.
“Where…?” “You fell asleep after the meal.” He said.
“Do you still remember what you talked about with the chairman at the table?” He asked and Alice nodded, groggily.
The Chairman addressed that the public wanted to know who this new hero was.
And usually, there was a press conference to introduce S-class awakeneds as soon as they were awakened, but Alice’s case was quite peculiar, so it was held back.
With gates spawning at every corner and at any time, they never had time to make the arrangements.
Plus, Alice was always so tired that she wanted to rest for a day or two after clearing a gate on her own.
So, they would arrange a press conference and also introduce the guild she was affiliated with.
Alice realized that was still a thing, so she told Adolf she didn’t want to join any guild, and to which he asked her if she planned on creating a guild of her own.
Well, long story short, Adolf told her he would take care of things for her.
“Where’s Leo?” Alice asked.
“He said something like going ‘offline’ and then he disappeared.” He said, and Alice nodded.
“So, he finally decided to shut his mouth, huh?” She looked haughtily proud about that.
“Let him go and recharge and I’ll make sure to give him a piece of my mind once he’s back.” She rested her back on the chair, trying to relax but it just didn’t feel comfortable.
At this point, she should’ve been leaning on his shoulder for support.
“He ran out of energy, huh?” She looked outside the window.
“Well, it’s been an entire day since he took on a human form, so I guess he still needs some sort of energy supply without his form intact.” She looked like she was talking to herself and she was.
“Good riddance though.
He was starting to piss me off.
Who taught him how to use his middle finger?
It’s like he got corrupted by the world as soon as he was born into it.” She leaned on Devon’s shoulder.
“And he was so handsome too.
Gosh, how would he look in his real form?
I bet he’d be dazzling.” She was just rambling on and on, trying to keep her eyes from closing.
And though Devon was not listening to the words she was saying, he had his eyes on her and was glad.
He didn’t have the chance to be alone with her or freely stare at her as he was currently doing because Leo was always with her.
He took all of her attention even when he wasn’t trying.
Was it because they had a bond?
Well, either way, he was jealous of the privilege Leo had and was also disappointed that he was taking that privilege for granted.

“We’re almost at your house.” He said, gently stroking her head.
“Just a few more blocks and…” He paused and noticed she was sleeping again.
Ah, now he understood what they meant when they said she could sleep through an apocalypse.
She could sleep anywhere, anywhere, and next to anyone.
But he’d like to think that she was able to sleep so comfortably and without worries because he was the one next to her.
Just like they did when returning from the council where she slept in his arms, she felt safe when he was around.
That was all he could tell himself to cheer up and give himself hope that he had a chance with her.
“Alice,” he called but Alice did not respond.
She was deep in sleep again.
He watched her as she snoozed softly and then his eyes examined her face carefully, taking note of every little detail on her face.
Her eyes were pretty and her eyebrows were neatly carved.
However, he doubted that she took her time to make sure they were carved to perfection.
It must’ve been the work of her sudden configuration.
He took off his gloves and reached for her face, caressing softly.
Her face was smooth and delicate.
It was like a newborn baby’s cheek.
No single blemish.
And then her lips…
He gulped.
With his thumb, he brushed against the surface of her lips lightly.
He pressed a little hard and watched them part open.
Ah, what was he doing?
He shouldn’t be doing such a thing but…
“Alice,” he softly muttered, slowly leaning in and giving into temptation.
“Please, wake up.” He kept speaking softly.
He wanted to wake her up but his pleas were so soft-spoken that it could put a baby to sleep.
It was as if he was drawing her deeper into her sleep, so he wouldn’t get caught in the act.
He wanted something to stop him.
And if she woke up and stopped him, that would be better.
He didn’t want to cross the line by kissing her in her sleep.
It was so unlike him.
It was a grave sin to kiss someone’s lips without their permission and when they were sleeping, too.
And especially when her feelings toward him were still filled with uncertainty.
A sweat rolled down the corner of his face as he pleaded, ever softly, “Please,” His lips were so close to touching hers when the driver stopped the car and announced, “We have arrived.” He snapped out of it as his eyes widened and he moved back.
He breathed heavily and then gave out a sigh of relief.
He scaled through it this time.
“Alice,” he called, nudging her by the shoulder.
“We have arrived.” Alice opened her eyes.
He watched her flutter her eyelashes slowly and gently.
She looked like an angel when it came to sleeping but her attitude in real life was like that of the devil.
“Are we there yet?” She asked, rubbing her eyes and he smiled at her.
‘Look at her rubbing her eyes.
She’s so cute.’ he thought.
“Yes, would you like me to help you down?” She nodded, her eyes puckered in drowsiness.
They got out of the car and he said, “You can hold my hand, so you don’t fall on the way in.” She nodded and took his hand.
He led her towards the elevator.
And though he could just teleport to their front door, he wanted to spend a little more time with Alice.
His little selfish desire was delaying her sleeping time.
They got into the elevator and Alice rested her body on his.
“Do you want me to carry you?” He asked but she shook her head.
“No, if you do, I’ll really fall asleep and I don’t want to yet.
I need to make sure Mark is at home.” She yawned.
“And Leo isn’t online right now, so I’ll have to change into my night clothes myself.” She yawned once more and clutched his hand.
“It’s a chore but I have no choice.” “Wait, do you…
Do you get changed into your night clothes by…
Leo?” Devon asked and Alice, who was half asleep, nodded her head, giving no explanation whatsoever and allowing Devon to misunderstand the whole thing.
CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, people, this author isn’t feeling too well.
It’s 26th, a day after Christmas and yet I feel like my whole body’s going to give in.
And no, I did not party hard to result in this.
I’m just down with a fever.
So, I may not post nice quality chapters (not saying the quality was great to begin with) but I won’t let them be too bad.
Just like this chapter, with my drowsiness, I’m sure I put a lot of effort into making it work out as I wished it would.
Pardon me if the chapters are sloppy, and if they aren’t, I’m thankful for that.
Well, I won’t be slacking even if I’m sick.
After all, I can’t take a break, ngh, anyway, I’m off to go to sleep after posing the next chapter
