- Chapter 194 - Chapter 194 No, this doesn't feel right
Chapter 194: No, this doesn’t feel right Chapter 194: No, this doesn’t feel right “Wait, do you…
Do you get changed into your night clothes by…
Leo?” Devon asked and Alice, who was half asleep, nodded her head, giving no explanation whatsoever and allowing Devon to misunderstand the whole thing.
Devon felt his heart thump painfully.
‘Ah, what is this?
I thought I could get closer to her and maybe become someone she could rely on, but after all, am I wishing for something more?
Just how can she let a man change her clothes for her?’ he thought about this, his blood boiling when he realized something and paused.
Leo never seemed to show interest in Alice and instead, teased and taunted her.
He looked like he would rather stay stuck in a world alone than with her, but he cared for her, that was a fact.
He protected her with his knowledge and stayed by her side.
He had no ulterior motives.
At least, none that the naked eyes could see.
And because of that, he could do all that for Alice and still not bat an eye.
Was that why Alice was so fond of him?
Because his thoughts of her were completely pure and without desire?
He was just speculating about all this but what if it was true?
Then, was the secret of getting close to Alice was to do everything for her without a shred of selfish desires?
He couldn’t understand.
If that was it then it was very hard.
Wasn’t the reason why they wanted to do everything for her because of their desires?
Or was it because they wanted to do everything for her that they grew desires?
His heart thumped.
He was confusing himself with his thoughts but more than that, he was conflicted.
Alice told him it was okay to have desires.
She told him it was okay to be selfish, so would she like him regardless of that?
* “I like Micheal, don’t I?
I like you too, Mark.
And I like Devon, he’s so sweet and kind.” * He recalled those words Alice had previously said.
She liked him and specifically mentioned that he was sweet and kind.
So, was the reason she liked him because he was sweet and kind to her?

He couldn’t wrap it up properly but if that were the case, then he would do anything to make her like him more.
Being sweet and kind was never a pretense.
That was the kind of person he strived to become and he achieved it.
So, he just needed to be a little more kind and sweet to her.
And then, she would like him more…
Right?
‘No, this doesn’t feel right.’ he held his head.
‘I don’t think I’m in my right senses right now.’ The elevator doors opened and he pushed Alice lightly.
It was more like a nudge, since she was already resting on his shoulder.
“Let’s go.” He said and she opened her eyes.
He started walking and she followed him with slow steps.
‘There is one factor I failed to recognize.’ They got to her front door and since she was moving like a walking dead because of sleep, he decided to ring the bell and let Mark open the door.
‘The fact is, Leo is not human.
And though I don’t know what he is, I can assume that he is a creature without desire.
And because he cannot have desire, his actions are always pure and without hidden motives.
And because of that…’ The door opened, revealing Mark.
‘…
It is impossible to act like him.’ “You’re back.” Mark said and looked at Alice, but his eyes immediately fell on their locked hands afterward.
“I’ll take her from here.
Thank you for bringing her back safely.” He said and reached for the particular hand that was being held in Devon’s.
He took Alice from Devon and said to Devon, “Goodnight.
I hope you return safely.” His tone was cold and somewhat forced but Devon did not take offense to it.
He had been thinking so much that he did not even have the time to feel jealous and wish he were in Mark’s shoes.
“Yes, I guess I’ll leave now.” He said and reached his hand towards Alice’s face, caressing softly and feeling her warmth with his barehand, just as he did in the car.
He smiled.
“Goodnight Alice.
I’ll see you soon.” “Goodnight, Devon.” Alice responded, though her face was buried in Mark’s chest.
Mark closed the door and sighed.
He carried Alice in bridal style and she asked, “Where did you go, Mark?” Her voice was soft as she slowly patted her eyelashes together.
“I didn’t see you before going to Gramps place.” “I went to get something that you might find useful.” “Like?” He started heading up the stairs.
“You said you could never be away from your familiar, so that meant he would have to go with you to school, isn’t that right?” He asked and she nodded.
“Come to think of it, where is he?” “He went offline.
Couldn’t stay outside without recharging, so he…” She yawned.
“I bet he’ll be back by morning.” She opened her eyes and looked into his while looking.
“So, what did you get Leo?” “A uniform.” He stopped in front of her room and opened the door.
“As well as an application to let him go to school with you.
I spoke with Miss Stella about it, she’ll come along with a special gift for you tomorrow morning.” “Ah, thank goodness.” Alice said.
Mark dropped her on her bed and started helping her take off her shoes.
“Why so?” “I won’t be the only one to suffer in that hell.” She chuckled.
“I’m dragging Leo in with me.” It was childish, but what could he expect?
He was just glad that she could still joke about it.
“Ah, thank you, Mark.
You’re always such a great help.” She said and Mark looked away.
“It’s nothing.” She suddenly sat up and her face grew inches towards his, startling him.
“I should’ve been asleep by now, but do you know why I stayed up even when I was so sleepy?” He gulped at the close proximity and shook his head.
“It’s because I didn’t know where you went and I wanted to make sure you were back.
If I didn’t find you, then I’d worry.” Mark felt touched.
So, she would worry about him too, huh?
It made him feel happy.
“I’m glad you think so much for me.” He said and got up.
“Well, I’m fine, and well, do not worry.” He brushed her hair softly and then his eyes fell on the cheek Devon had caressed before he left.
He dropped his hand there and rubbed it as if trying to get off a stain.
“Now, go wash your face, get changed, and sleep.
You’re waking up early, remember?” “You don’t have to remind me.” She dropped her back on the bed, crushing her face with her palms in exhaustion, and sighed.
“It really is hell.” He laughed softly as he made his way to the door.
“It’s not the kind of hell that would kill you.” He said.
“But do be sure to go through it while having fun.
Do not let that kind of hell get the better of you.” Ah, was that supposed to be an encouraging speech?
Well, whatever it was, it seemed to do the job.
She wasn’t going to let the hell of a school turn her into a walking dead.
If she was going to do it then she would do it right.
“Look out, you education practitioners, I’mma show you what it’s like to pass through the school and not let the school pass through you.
Muhahaha.” Mark heard her from the other side of the door and shook his head at her words.
She was so full of life.
He turned off the lights in the living room and went to his room.
He sat by his desk and picked up the papers that looked like a form and on top of the first paper was a bold heading that said, *TEACHING APPLICATION EXAMINATION FORM* He looked at it and sighed.
