Chapter 196: Were you expecting anyone?
Chapter 196: Were you expecting anyone?
Honestly, Alice felt she wasn’t prepared for anything.
She knew that going to school was just for formality at this point, so it didn’t matter if she passed with flying colors, but it all felt pointless.
They were taking such good care of her, and she bet they already had her school bag, which she didn’t even know she had filled with books.
‘I guess I’ll just give it a try first.’ she thought to herself.
‘It shouldn’t be so hard with Leo helping me with comprehension and stuff.’ she glanced at him and he glanced at her.
‘I guess this is one of the perks of having your mind linked with a god.’ Don’t think of me as a comprehension material.
Leo refuted harshly in her mind, but she gave a dead ear, glancing away and showing him her shoulders.
‘You’ll help me either way.’ she confidently said to him.
“Good morning, Alice.” Mark’s voice alerted Alice and she turned to find him smiling warmly at her.
“Did you sleep well?” “Oh, Mark, you’re such a lifesaver.” She ran to hug him.
“I heard you woke up super early just to prepare breakfast for me.” She said, “Technically, I woke him up.” Leo said but she purposely ignored him.
“Thank you so much.” She smiled in his face, and Mark was glad she was expressing herself so ‘closely’, but this was too much contact early in the morning, and she was pressing against him too much.
He could feel her…
“Now, now,” Miss Stella called out.
“Hurry up and eat.
We should start heading out in ten minutes.” She perked up her glasses, hinting she was serious about the time.
“And not a second more.” Alice sat down, but before she could start eating, Mark wrapped a long and wide napkin around her neck, and Leo dropped another on her thighs.
“This is…” “Enjoy your meal.” Mark said.
Alice could get over-excited while eating, and that would result in various incidents.
Like, she could suddenly spill some sauce on her collar or drop a piece of bone on her skirt.
Ah, yes.
She looked like a delicate sunshine now, but she was a massive foodie who could not contain her excitement when eating.
“Thank you for the meal.” Alice said and started eating.
Miss Stella checked the time every step of the way, making sure Alice would not delay.
She was a punctual teacher who wished for her students to be extra punctual. So, she wasn’t trying to rush Alice with her meal.
She just wanted her to know that time was of the essence.
Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang, and Miss Stella glanced towards the door.

Who could it be?
She turned to Mark and asked, “Were you expecting anyone?” “None that I am aware of.” Mark answered as he stood to his feet.
“I’ll go see who it is.” He went to the door and opened it but as soon as he did, he frowned.
“It’s you.” He said.
“What do you want?” “Tsk, tsk, tsk, don’t be so sour.” The voice belonged to Micheal, and he made his way into the house before being permitted to enter.
“If someone saw your expression right now, they’d think I stole something valuable from you.
Anyway, Alice, I have come for you.” He flapped his cape and Alice turned to look at him.
She stared at him standing with a superhero pose and then turned to face her food, disappointing him.
There was nothing more important than finishing her meal before Miss Stella told her the time was up.
Mark tried not to laugh at Michael’s failed attempt but really, it felt so good for some reason.
To think Alice would still act so indifferent to the guy she kissed.
Ah, the fact that food was her true love was once again confirmed.
“Don’t bother me right now.” She said and tore the flesh out of the drumstick, spilling a bit on the napkin around her neck.
“Ah, for goodness’ sake, it’s not the end of the world yet.” Leo exclaimed but she ignored him and feasted away.
But then she paused, dropped what was in her hand, and started cleaning her mouth.
“That’s enough.” She said.
“I’ll take the rest to go, please.” They were all somewhat confused.
What was that about?
And she was smiling?
They were sure she would want to finish her food there before leaving.
“Is something wrong?” Mark asked, walking back to her but she shook her head and said, “Well, I realized I wasn’t enjoying the meal.” She said, to his dismay but she quickly shook off his disappointment with her next words.
“The food is delicious, and the meat is very juicy, but I’m not really enjoying it since I’m rushing it.
So, I’d like to settle and eat it later when I have time.
So,” she smiled.
“I’ll pack the rest to go, Mark.” He sighed in relief and nodded. “I understand.
I’ll pack it up right away.” He said and eyed Micheal before carrying the rest of the dishes to the kitchen, along with Leo who offered to help.
Miss Stella turned to Micheal and asked, “May I ask what business you have with my student?” “Oh, it’s no big deal.
I just came to deliver a peculiar product to her.” He said and sent his subtle gaze at her before glancing away towards Alice who was cleaning her mouth carefully.
“Ordered by you, of course.” “Me?” Miss Stella adjusted her glasses.
She wasn’t sure he got it right.
She didn’t order anything and…
Her eyes widened…
Unless.
“Are you the secret merchant?” “Bingo.” He snapped his fingers, and a box appeared in his hand.
It was an eyeglass case, and he handed it to her.
“Just as ordered.
It was made last minute, but its effect should be top-notch.” “What is that?” Alice asked and Miss Stella turned to her.
“Well, this is a little something I prepared for you.
Well, actually, Mark asked for my help, and I thought this would fit the bill.” It was like they were talking in riddles.
Alice asked what it was, shouldn’t she just say what it was and not go into details? Sometimes, it was a bit exhausting.
“Then, what is it?” Alice asked, still hoping she would get to the point.
“Allow me to explain.” Micheal said but Alice rolled her eyes, fed up.
She got up, snatched the eyeglass case, and then opened it.
It really was a pair of glasses.
“So, you came all this way to send me a pair of glasses?” She asked, confused.
“My vision’s good, though.
Very good.” “Ah, those aren’t for your vision.” Miss Stella said.
“I know you’d have a hard time getting swamped because you’re like, the world’s hero.
So, I made an order for a pair of glasses that can distort certain features of the wearer.
You still look the same, just…” She took the glasses from Alice and took off hers.
“No one will know it’s you.” She wore the new pair of glasses and Alice’s eyes widened.
“Miss Stella, I can’t tell it’s you at all.” She said.
“You seem the same.
You still have the same features but I’m sure if I’ve never met you before, I would never be able to tell it was you, even with a picture in my hand.” Alice looked amazed and Micheal chuckled proudly.
“I guess it works then.” Miss Stella said, taking off the glasses.
“Now, you try it on.”
