- Chapter 213 - Chapter 213 The reason I brought you here
Chapter 213: The reason I brought you here Chapter 213: The reason I brought you here Alice watched as they drove away, waving her hand till they were out of sight.
“Now, can you explain to me why we had to send away our free ride?” Alice asked and turned to Leo.
“What’s going on in your head?
Can you explain that as well?” Leo shook his head and started walking.
Alice followed after him, a little space between them.
Maybe he just wanted her to walk for a while but just in case, she paid attention to his thoughts.
‘Hm, what’s the matter all of a sudden?’ she wondered.
“Leo, is something going on?” She asked and watched him stop.
He turned his head to look at his left and then changed directions.
“And now he’s ignoring me, I suppose.” She followed him anyway and they got to a local restaurant.
He walked in and took a seat at a two people’s table.
Alice sat next to him and looked around.
All eyes were on them and the reason was plain as day.
Two stunning students just walked into the restaurant, why wouldn’t they look?
The place was pretty old but the dishes seemed to be something else.
Alice could feel it at the tip of her taste buds that this was just the place to sit and relax after spending an entire day listening to teachers talk about stuff that had nothing to do with her and sniffing books all day.
“Did you tell Devon to go ahead because you wanted to take me out to eat?” She asked him with a mischievous and taunting grin.
“Is that what this is?” She wanted him to admit it but he was nonchalant and raised his hand to call the waiter, who appeared before them in a flash, not missing the opportunity to serve these fine customers as soon as possible.
“Welcome, what can I get you?” The lady asked, panting as she was out of breath after the stunt she pulled.
“I need everything on the menu, thank you.” Leo simply said, confusing the waitress.
“Um, I don’t…” She shook her head.
“Will you be having company?” She asked but that was an expected response.
Leo shook his head and said, “We want to try everything so just bring it all.” Leaving the fact that Alice may very well be the one to finish the entire thing.
But he was not sure about that yet.
“The reason I brought you here,” He finally spoke to Alice.
“Is quite simple.” He smiled and Alice clicked her tongue.
“Don’t start a sentence if you aren’t going to finish it, moron.” She rolled her eyes away.
“You know I’m not that smart to figure out what you’re thinking.” “No, you are.” Leo said, taking her hand.
What did he just say?
“You’re very smart, Alice.” She tilted her head.

What was he saying?
And why…
Why was it suddenly making her heart race?
Did he have to hold her hand to say something so cheesy like that?
It was making her embarrassed.
“But…” Leo added, “You’re just too lazy to use your brain.” Her racing heart changed rhythm and she felt she would skin this guy alive if he dared to say one more annoying word.
Leo laughed and let go of her hand, reaching for her face.
“What’s with that expression on your face?” He asked, pinching her cheek.
“You look like you want to murder me.” “Well, good guess.” She said and slapped his hand away from her cheek.
“I’m just wondering where to bury your body afterward.” He laughed.
“But it’s true.
You’re very smart but the problem with you is that you’re too lazy to use your brains.
You only use it when you feel like it and when you don’t feel like it, you feel you aren’t smart.” He stated but she was still mad at his theory.
“Would a person who isn’t smart be able to act the way you do?
I mean, Vector was completely fooled by you.” “It’s because of years of practice, idiot.” Alice said quite solemly.
“Not because I’m smart.” Her words seemed to weigh down as she said that.
Years of practice where her body parts were at risk if she failed, and her life was always hanging on a thin thread during such operations.
It wasn’t because she was smart or anything like that.
With her elbow on the table, she enveloped her chin and mouth in her palm, glancing outside.
Days where she lived like that were her last day on earth.
She didn’t know what it was like to be normal and didn’t even think about a peaceful day coming into her life.
If she looked back to her life then and now, she could say she had gone a really long way and achieved more than she could ever dream of.
“It feels so surreal right now.” She muttered and then left out a mocking laugh.
“And school was definitely not something I’d think about.” Her eyes slowly fell.
“I mean, I couldn’t really think of anything good coming to my life.” Leo watched her.
He could read her thoughts so he could tell that she was having those sad thoughts again.
He reached his hand out to her and gently brushed the locks of hair dangling at the corner of her face.
“And you wonder why they say, ‘Your past does not define you’.” He said and smiled at her.
“You’re a different person right now, so if you feel you’re only able to do most things you’re doing now because of what you had to face in your past, then that’s that.
It’s still a part of you, no doubt.
But that should not be the reason why you limit your thinking.
You’re capable of greater things, Alice.
So just…” He took back his hand slowly, letting her lock of hair slide through his fingers as he retracted his hand and then stopped when he had reached the tip of the lock.
He kissed it and said, “Fly!” “Ahhhh!” A sudden outburst from the surroundings shocked both of them, and they looked up to see that most of the customers in the restaurant were girls, and they very much liked what they saw.
“I can’t hear what they’re saying from here but they’re so cool.” One girl said, taking endless pictures of the duo.
“That girl is so lucky, and the same goes for the guy.
They look so good together that I could die right now and not have any regrets.” “They’re the perfect couple, I tell ya.” Girls in tears as they watched this scene unfold, feeling it was romantic and heartfelt, had no idea that these two were far from lovers.
Alice and Leo didn’t even know where to begin if they were to explain, so they decided to let them think whatever.
“Way to go, Mister Perfect.” Alice said, folding her arms.
“Congratulations, you’ve successfully sent out the wrong message.” “But they’re not entirely wrong, tho.” Leo said, chuckling to himself and she gave him a questioning look.
“Though we aren’t lovers, it is true that we look good together.” “Don’t flatter yourself.” She rolled her eyes and he laughed.
