Chapter 216: Then, you’ve been here for two hours?
Alice felt someone softly brushing her hair with soft strokes.
She had fallen asleep as soon as she had eaten the food in the last flask, so she didn’t get a chance to see Mark when he returned.
And though this person sitting by her headside had been doing this for quite a while, confident that Alice would not wake up from doing something so light, he did not fret when Alice began to flutter her eyelashes, slowly waking up.
‘It smells like Mark.’ She thought and opened her eyes to find Mark sitting by her head and staring at her softly.
That rigid face of his could make these soft and mushy expressions that made her believe he was a person filled with emotions after all.
Hmm, maybe his feelings for her were already growing strong?
“Did I wake you up?” Mark asked, his tone low and hoarse.
“I think so.” Alice said, sparing no time to sit up.
“Where’s Leo?” That was the first thing she asked since she could not feel him lying next to her, and Mark paused.
He wasn’t supposed to be getting jealous of that, which was not human, but he could not help it.
He slept on the same bed with Alice, took care of her, and even stood there while she was changing, having that indifferent expression on his face.
He had the privilege of being so close to Alice, yet he was so nonchalant about it, making those who craved that same attention seem like they were just desperate old guys who had pedophile tendencies.
“He wasn’t here when I walked in.” Mark said.
“You were the only one here, fast asleep.” “Oh, he must’ve gone to recharge.” Alice said with a sleepy tone and closed her eyes.
“When did you get back?” “10 pm.” He answered and she opened her eyes.
“Hm, it’s still 10 pm?” Alice asked, her eyebrows gently furrowing, not in displeasure but discomfort.
“No, it’s actually midnight right now.” Mark answered, a little sweat dropping at the corner of his face.
“I…
I’m sure of it.” “Hm?” Alice was confused.
Why was he still up if it was already 12?
She opened her eyes and lazily lifted her body to look at him clearly.
The light in the room was dim but she could still see perfectly.
Mark had…
Not taken off the clothes he wore that morning when they went to school.
Ah, that’s not right.
If he hadn’t taken it off, and he returned over 2 hours ago, didn’t that mean he had been by her side for two hours?
Leo told her to use her head to think and not leave it all to question-asking.
And now that she was thinking, it didn’t make sense to her.

“Did you…
Come to my room as soon as you got back?” She asked and he turned his head away, feeling a little bit of shame.
“Yes,” “Then, you’ve been here for two hours?” She asked, surprised and he nodded once more, answering, “Yes.” “Why?
You should’ve gone to rest, right?” She asked but he still kept his head down.
How was he going to explain that he saw an opportunity and took it?
Alice’s forehead creased as she went into deep thinking.
It was times like this that she wished her mind-reading abilities could work generally and not just for those who held hostility towards her.
Mark came back from work and the first thing he noticed was a single person’s energy in the house, and it belonged to Alice.
It only meant she was alone.
And if that was the case…
He walked up the stairs after throwing his bag aside and gently opened the door.
He walked in and found her sleeping peacefully, her hair scattered on the bed, her body hugging a long cushion pillow with her legs wrapped around it.
She looked so peaceful when she slept.
She looked like a normal teen.
She looked…
Like she could make him fall for her over and over and all she had to do was stay still.
Mark reached his hand towards her and though he trembled, feeling he was once again doing something that could be considered crossing the line, he wanted to do it.
He wanted to touch her cheek, touch her lips, and watch her some more.
This was the only time he knew he had a chance to do so.
With Leo always by her side, he couldn’t even afford to abhor such thoughts for fear that they would escalate in his mind and he was reading his thoughts every step of the way.
He knew that if Leo wanted to make it so he never saw Alice again, he was more than capable.
Alice listened to him more than anyone, so…
He was about to touch Alice’s cheeks when he realized he should wash his hands first.
He had been dealing with a lot of criminals and though he wore gloves, he couldn’t help but feel his hands were dirty.
He went to her bathroom, washed his hands, and then cleaned them.
He bit the inside of his mouth as he stared at his hand.
Was that enough?
He wondered.
He could not afford to stain Alice.
(Bro, take it from me.
You’re going crazy) He touched Alice’s cheeks gently and softly, the tip of his fingers slowly trailing her face and observing every little detail.
He liked her.
In fact, he loved her.
And if his feelings would make Alice uncomfortable, he would do his best to hide them, all while sharing his warmth and affection by taking care of her wholeheartedly and with sincerity.
Alice stared at Mark, wondering what he was thinking.
She was feeling sleepy, so she didn’t want to think too much of it, but why was he by her bedside all along?
She was puzzled.
“Was there…
Something you wanted to ask?” She asked, but his eyes fell on her slowly parted lips.
‘Hah, I think I’m in trouble.’ he thought and raised his gaze to meet Alice’s eyes, which were sparkling with curiosity.
For a moment, Alice realized that he was staring at her lips.
Was that what this was about?
She drew closer to him, shocking him and wondering what she was going to do.
“Is there something you want?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Yes, he wants you.
