- Chapter 228 - Chapter 228 Now, I feel sorry for him
Chapter 228: Now, I feel sorry for him Chapter 228: Now, I feel sorry for him It was as if spring had come.
Damian heard the words, ‘I gotta teach them a lesson for harming my person.’ and ‘Hurting the person I care about.’ Those words played in his head, toying with his feelings and causing him to misunderstand a great deal.
How was it that he was her person already?
And someone she cared about?
They only met yesterday.
“Hey, what’s wrong with your face?” Alice asked, noticing his face was getting red.
“Are you sick?” She dropped the back of her palm on his forehead and that made him flush even redder.
“I can’t interpret this.” She said, quite worried, and turned to Leo.
“Hey, what’s wrong with him?
Can you tell?” Leo took one good look at Damian, who was clutching his shirt and trying to hide his face with the back of his palm, and then he sighed.
“Not again,” he exclaimed, shaking his head in worry.
“Alice, he’s fine.
Just…
Give him a moment to catch his breath.” “Are you sure?” Alice asked and turned to Damian.
“He looks like he can’t breathe.
“And then she snapped.
“Ah, I’m not releasing my aura by mistake, am I?” “No, but you’re definitely releasing something.” He said, his voice filled with sarcasm.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She glared at him but he shrugged.
There was no way he was going to tell her that, like every other guy in her life who was harboring secret feelings for her, she had made an innocent young one fall in love with her so deep that the realization was stealing his breath.
But it wasn’t Alice’s fault either.
She was just being plain ol’ Alice, saying whatever was on her mind and doing whatever she felt like doing.
She wasn’t even trying and yet he was falling so hard.
*Ah, now we have two brothers who are at it.* Leo thought.
‘Will you stop speaking in riddles?
What about two brothers?’ Alice asked in her thoughts and Leo realized she was listening in.
If he had been a bit more specific in his thoughts then she would’ve found out about it.
He needed to stop thinking and stop her from realizing it.
Things may get awkward between them if she finds out about his feelings, so it is best to keep it a secret.
To her, he was a cute little guy to be around.
Ah, much like a pet.

*Now, I feel sorry for him.* Leo thought, and Alice growled, mumbling to herself.
“Now he doesn’t want to tell me what he’s thinking.
Tut.
He’s so petty.” “Thank you, Alice.” Damian said, finally calming down.
“For looking out for me.” “Well, I promised your brother I would.” She said, and it was like a heavy hammer on Damian’s heart.
So, she was doing all this just because of the promise?
Leo shook his head.
*She gave him hope, only to dash it in an instant.
I guess that’s the end of it.* “Ah, I see.” Damian exclaimed, gripping his shirt tightly and lowering his head.
‘She only did it because of my brother.’ It was a blow to his heart and he was feeling hurt.
But in all, he was thankful.
Yet, he couldn’t even lift his head to thank you properly.
“But that aside,” Alice added, “I like you, so even if Devon didn’t ask me to take care of you, I’d still take you under my wings and be friends with you.” She patted his head while smiling.
“Cause you’re so adorable.” Leo palmed his face and Damian’s feelings blew up again.
He pursed his lips, holding his heart in, and then began to cry all of a sudden.
Alice panicked.
“Oh no, what’s wrong?” She asked.
“Are you hurting anywhere?
“It’s because you said you liked me and I…
I’m so happy about that.” He said.
“Thank you for being my friend.” His smile was radiant and Alice was thankful for the glasses she was wearing, even if they weren’t shades.
She kinda understood him, even if she didn’t understand 80% of his admiration.
Just having someone like you and being friends with you was something a lot of people cherished and she was among those lots.
She always wanted to be alone, because having people around only gave her more things to worry about.
People were selfish.
They could claim to be your friends today and end up stabbing you in the back just to get what they wanted tomorrow.
People were unpredictable and cruel.
She had been hurt so many times that she became numb to the word friendship.
And that was why she kept her trust, even in the closest person in her life, to a bare minimum.
Having just enough trust to shut her eyes around them but not enough to leave her belongings with them.
That was her relationship with Diane.
It was no different from a business transaction, really.
They both got what they wanted with a little give-and-take policy in between.
But after leaving that life…
After breaking her collar as a dog and finally becoming a person, finally becoming Alice, she realized that in life, true friends will find you and when they do, they just can’t be replaceable.
So, her trust issues disappeared before she knew it.
Maybe it was because of the people who found her and how well they treated her, how well they showed her that life wasn’t worth quitting and living carelessly.
They showed her that her life was hers and she could do whatever she wanted with it.
Really, it took a while but she was glad she finally opened up.
If not…
She might just need to start going to therapy, haha.
She didn’t know the joy that others brought to one’s life.
But after experiencing it…
She thought that having so many others in her life wasn’t so bad.
A friend…
It was a nice tone.
“Come here, you.” She pulled him in and hugged him.
“This is nothing to cry about.” She said.
“And there’s no need to thank me.” Leo watched them and without realizing it, a smile played on his lips.
Alice was growing.
“Hm, remind me to call Diane later.” Alice said to Leo after breaking the hug with Damian.
“There’s something I need to tell her.” “Sure.” Leo said, reaching his hand towards her to swipe her hair back.
He took a good look at her and smiled.
“I’ll remind you.” Alice felt goosebumps crawl up her skin and she slapped his hands off.
“Gosh, you make me cringe so much when you do that.” She said, and he laughed.
“You’re so cruel.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, people, dont forget to vote, send gifts and get ready for the action that is to come, muhahaha
