Chapter 229: It’s because their minds are linked Chapter 229: It’s because their minds are linked “I’m hungry.” Alice complained and turned to Leo.
“Hey, I’m hungry.” “I heard you the first time.” Leo said and flipped the pages of his book to continue writing.
“Then, aren’t you going to do anything about it?” She asked and he took a quick glance at her before glancing forward.
“Hello, are you going to ignore me?
I said I’m hungry, so do something.” Leo sighed and Damian said in a low voice, “Alice, there’s about an hour left till the lunch bell rings.
So for now, would you mind holding out for a bit?” “But that’s too loooong,” she grumbled.
Leo ignored her and she sighed, dropping her head on her book.
Then, she glanced at the teacher who was writing on the board and said, “I’m not gonna try and skip breakfast again.
I’m at my limit.
Help.” Day four of Alice’s school experience.
The first day was a bit…
Peaceful.
The second day seemed to spike up the class.
The third way was very boring, rather than peaceful as there were no confrontations and no distractions either.
Now, it was the fourth day and nothing had happened so far.
Devon had been so happy that he could get to drive Alice home that evening.
After all, she did promise him that he would get to take her home then since she had decided to follow Leo and walk around.
Mark would get home late and wouldn’t be able to prepare dinner, so on their way home, they stopped at a restaurant and Damian finally understood what his brother meant when he said Alice could eat a full cow and still not get tired.
It was amusing, honestly and he found himself laughing at how funny she was when she ate.
Alice also called Diane with her phone.
She got her number from Devon, and while lying in bed and swinging her legs, she talked like a normal girl to her long-time friend whom she was-though not admitting it- missing.
She was missing Diane.
Well, they decided to meet one of these days and catch up on what had been going on in the other’s life.
They only met after getting away from Big Stach for a brief moment when her emotions were being played with and she was drowning in darkness.
After that, maybe sitting down and having a nice chat would be nice.
But that aside, Alice felt too hungry to concentrate on the teacher’s words, not that it ever mattered.
*I’ll tell you what,* Leo spoke to her telepathically and Alice rolled her eyes towards him, *If you can get through till lunch time then the next time we go into a dungeon to kill monsters, I’ll save some to prepare a snack for you.* Alice’s eyes widened and she was just about to yell out, ‘Really?’ When Leo slapped his hand to her mouth, stopping her from uttering anything that would make her seem crazy.
*Yes, really.* He said, slowly taking his hand away from her mouth.
*So, hang on tight and stop distracting the rest of us.* She gave her okay sign with her index and thumb connected at their tips, and then she started gushing, her eyes beaming as she began dreaming of that savory meat she had eaten in the dungeon that one time.
If she could get to eat that again, she would do anything.

Damian glanced at them, wondering what was going on between them, but then remembered something his brother said, “Sometimes, when you’re with them, it would seem like they’re having a conversation with no words.
When that happens, you don’t need to think too much.” “Why is that?” “It’s because their minds are linked.
So they can have a conversation anywhere and anytime and the only way you can tell is if Alice gets overexcited or pissed all of a sudden.” Damian blinked his eyes slowly and then looked away, shifting his gaze back to the board.
‘It seems like they’re having a conversation right now.’ He thought and stole a brief glance one more time at Alice before looking away.
‘She looks excited.
I wonder what they talked about.’ He started scribbling down, while trying his best not to entertain any such thoughts and just focus on the lesson.
But…
He paused and thought, ‘How convenient.’ The bell rang soon after that and Alice got up from her seat, ready to head to the rooftop and take out her flasks.
She was starving.
“Hey, you always go off on your own to the cafeteria,” Alice suddenly said, referring to Damian.
“Do you want to come up with us for a change?” Damian looked at her, surprised.
Ah, she invited him.
But unfortunately…
“It-its alright.” He said, shyly looking away.
“I didn’t bring my own food, so I need to go eat at the cafeteria.” “Oh, is that so?
Well, is the food they serve there good?” She asked him, suddenly leaning closer.
“I assume it’s good, because someone like Devon with a brother complex wouldn’t let his brother eat garbage.” “Well, when…
When I was a normal student, the food served was a bit not okay, so I always carried my own meals.
But awakened students get special treatment, so we eat a luxurious meal.
That’s why I don’t carry any meals to food anymore.” Damian explained and Alice shifted back, nodding her head in understanding.
“I see.
So it’s good.” She said and turned to Leo with the idea that struck her.
“Hey, why don’t we…?” “No,” Leo refused her right away and she frowned.
“You didn’t even hear what I had to say first.” She said but he shook his head and dropped his hand on her shoulder.
“It’s written all over your face.” He said.
“You can’t have your cake and eat it at the same time.” “Hoho, yes I can.” She said and skipped away from his reach, getting behind Damian and dropping her hand on his shoulders.
“We’ll go with Damian to the cafeteria first.
Take a good look around and then we can go up to the rooftop.
It’s that simple.” “You forget the part where time is of the essence.” Leo said as he got closer to her.
“By the time you go down to the cafeteria and I’m very sure you won’t settle for a bite or two, you will have no time left to hurry up to the rooftop and have the meal you came to school with.” He stretched his hand towards her head and added, “Think.” He flicked her forehead and she squinted her eyes.
“Hey, that hurts, you know.” But Leo shrugged it off and scoffed.
“As if.” He tucked his hands in his pocket and started heading towards the door.
“You just have to pick one to do today.
You either have lunch at the cafeteria,” he stopped and turned to her.
“Or go up to the rooftop.
You can’t do both.” Alice started using her head and she thought hard and long.
Damian watched her with a little sweat rolling down his cheek.
Was it that hard to decide?
She didn’t need to accompany him to the cafeteria if that was what she was planning.
After all, he’s always eaten on his own, so…
“Well, I think I’ve come up with a solution.” She said, snapping her fingers and Leo blinked his eyes slowly, showing his disinterest.
“So, what if I eat at the cafeteria right now and then after P.E.
class, I can eat the food in my flasks?
What do you think?” “Sigh, do whatever you want.” He said and started heading for the door again.
“I guess it’s the cafeteria this time.” Alice smiled victoriously and Damian sighed.
“Come on, Damian.
Let’s go eat at the cafeteria together.” She said, hooking her arms in his, and his eyes fixed on their locked arms.
We’re they…
Were they going to walk around like that?
Wouldn’t that send out the wrong message to anyone who saw them?
“U-uh, Alice,” he called, “…you don’t have to hold on to me like that.
It’ll make others misunderstand and…” “Hm?” Alice titled her head.
“So, what if they misunderstand?
It’s not like a little misunderstanding will come back to bite us.
And besides, they can all think whatever they want, I don’t really give a damn.
I feel like hooking my arms, so that’s what I’m doing.
Or…” She paused, slowly turning her head to his.
“…could it be that you feel uncomfortable about it?” She asked and he flinched.
“Do you hate it when I do this?
Just let me know and I’ll…” She was about to take her arm away from his when he grabbed it and said, “N-no, that’s not it at all.” He said, slightly stuttering and with a flushed face.
“In fact, I don’t mind at all.
I just…
Didn’t want things to look bad for you.” “Hm, if that’s what you’re worried about then worry no more, haha.
I don’t care about the masses.” She clutched his arm tight.
“So,” she smiled at him.
“Shall we get going?” Damian looked towards Leo, who was waiting for them, before walking through the door.
He wondered if Leo was okay with this.
After all, he still didn’t know what kind of relationship they had.
“What?
Are you waiting to hear my opinion?” Leo asked.
“I don’t care what she does, so long as she doesn’t bring harm to herself.” He slowly turned around.
“She’s free-spirited, so just let her do what she wants and don’t think too much of it.” Just then, Clarissa walked in through the door Leo wanted to walk out of and with a contorted face filled with rage and disgust, her eyes boiling at the mere sight of Alice and then she pointed at Alice, yelling out, “You!
What did you do to Lance?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah What do you think she did?
