- Chapter 240 - Chapter 240 No one likes to be alone
Chapter 240: No one likes to be alone Chapter 240: No one likes to be alone Dinner was served, and for the first time, Damian saw Alice without her glasses and got a clearer and more open view of her face.
She was way more pretty without the disruption magic hindering a bit of her appearance.
But that aside, it was the first time he was watching her eat, besides when they had their meal at the cafeteria.
So, he watched with fascinated awe as she consumed the amount of food that didn’t seem realistic to ingest in one sitting, and then he realized that there were a lot of things he was still yet to discover.
And then there was Leo who didn’t eat but simply watched Alice with a satisfied expression on his face.
It was like that expression or was it a cheesy line?
Well, it said, ‘Go on and eat, I feel satisfied just watching you eat.’ In Leo’s case, he honestly didn’t need to eat but he did have a sense of satisfaction while watching Alice eat to her satisfaction.
But as shocked as he was, he did not ask questions and his curiosity died pretty easily.
He was more overwhelmed with the joy that he wouldn’t be alone when his brother was in a dungeon with his raid squad.
“So, your brother went into a dungeon?” Mark asked as the meal progressed.
He was the first to put down his fork.
Mark wasn’t that much of an eater, not that he needed the nutrients from food to begin with, so he ate the bare minimum so Alice would have just enough to stuff her stomach.
“Yes,” Damian answered.
“He’s a guild master, so why does he still bother going into dungeons when his members can do all that work?” Mark further asked.
“As far as I’m concerned, it’s too much of a risk and if he keeps doing that, the members would only keep depending on him.” “Well, to be honest,” Damian paused eating.
“I don’t know.” Alice paused as well and Leo turned his gaze to Damian.
“He has three S-class awakeneds in his guild, himself included.” Damian explained.
“So, if they were entering a high-level gate that needs the supervision of an S-class awakened, then he could send them instead, but he always chooses to go into the dungeon with them and leave me behind every single time to pray that he gets back safely.
He’s an S-class; of course, he’d come back safely, but…” His eyes grew teary.
“He’s also my only family so I just can’t help but worry.” He concluded his words but then he realized that he had said too much.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” He cleaned his eyes with his sleeves.
“I said too much.” “No, it’s okay.” Mark said and Alice started to eat again.
“I think I understand where you’re coming from, if not fully.
No one likes to be alone,” he said.
Yeah, for the thought of being left alone after his grandmother passed away, he thought of ending his own life.
He did not want to suffer loneliness so he had selfish thoughts.
‘Die before my grandmother and then it’ll all be okay.’ But fate seemed to have other plans.
“As for your brother’s reasons for always risking his life instead of sending his subordinate,” Mark continued.
“I believe it’s because of that strong conviction to not want to lose anyone.” “What does that mean?” “Perhaps he fears losing the people under him.
So, to have peace of mind, he would rather go into the cave and help destroy all obstacles with the powers he was given instead of letting them struggle and end up dead.” He said.

“Even if they are weak and inferior to the monsters, so long as he is there, they will all make it back alive.
At least, that’s what I like to believe.” “But it’s the same with sending other S-class awakeneds with them, isn’t it?” “Well, I do not know what he is thinking but the key point might be his peace of mind.” Mark concluded.
“If it’s not that then I don’t know what it is.
Sorry, but I can’t tell what your brother is thinking either.” Damian nodded and slowly lowered his head.
“I understand.” He said.
“But I think I get it better now, so thank you.” “Thank you for the meal.” Alice said as she dropped her cutleries and Leo instinctively started cleaning after her.
He used the napkin to clean the little stains left on her cheek and the corners of her mouth.
Damian watched this and his interpretation of their relationship became even more complex that he didn’t know what it was anymore.
So, who was Leo after all?
“Now,” Alice turned to Damian.
“Instead of giving your brain too much work to do, why not just ask?” She suggested.
“I mean, that’s what I do most of the time.” “That’s because you’re too lazy to use your brain.” Leo dropped the truth on her head like a boulder and she sighed.
“Anyway, that seems to be the only viable solution right now.
Don’t you agree?” She asked him and though he did not support her lazy attitude of refusing to use her brain, he had to admit that she was right this time, so he nodded.
“But…
Will he answer me?” Damian asked and Alice threw her arms around his shoulder.
She was sitting right next to him at the round dinner table so she was able to lean her body over to his and say, “Damian, sweetie, you’re even more adorable when you have doubts like this.” She said and started poking his cheek.
“See, even your baby fat gets fatter.” She laughed.
“I…” Damian flushed, embarrassed.
“I don’t have baby fat.” “Sure you do.
Just look at this.” She said, still poking.
“You gotta explain to me what this is if you’re going to deny it.” “S-stop, it’s not.” Damian said, shying away and she laughed.
“You see, I couldn’t think of anyone else who Devon would care for more than you.” She said.
“Just ask him, it won’t hurt.
And if he doesn’t give you an answer, come to me and I’ll knock some sense into him for you.
How’s that?” “Oh no, please no knocking.” Damian waved his hands frantically and Alice laughed.
“Gosh, you’re so cute.” This display in front of Mark made Mark’s forehead crease and he gripped his thighs.
Just when was Alice so close to Damian that she could hold him too freely and call him cute?
It looked like a harmless gesture, and knowing Alice, she wouldn’t think far even when having physical contact with the opposite gender, but that can’t be said for the other person.
Damian was receiving all this attention and skin contact with Alice.
What if he…
He gripped his thighs tightly while trying to keep his expression from squeezing in jealousy…
What if he also began to have feelings for Alice?
(Ah, it’s not what if anymore.
He already has feelings, lol.
Whatcha gonna do about it?) CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, I wanted to get their personalities down according to what you know of the male leads, Mark is either Possessive or obsessive Devon is also either Possessive or Obsessive Micheal (we’ll see him soon again) is submissive and likes to taunt the others Leo is…
Well, that’s for you guys to tell me because I haven’t the slightest idea; even if I am the author, I don’t know everything, okay?
So, don’t forget to comment your thoughts in the comment section, and let’s have a discussion, bye.
