Chapter 242: Do you feel anything on your back?
Chapter 242: Do you feel anything on your back?
A plant that had two sides.
One was crimson with a fragrance that was capable of enticement while the other was dark and sinister, bearing what would seem to be evil and untold intentions.
This plant looked like it was being divided into two.
One side had pointed leaves and was growing towards the left direction, which was the dark side, and the other side, the crimson side, was growing with its pointed leaves towards the right side.
There were not many details implemented into the leaves, but where they were growing from, however, seemed to have gotten all the details it needed.
They were growing from what looked like a love-shaped seed.
That center of the love shape was where both sides popped out from.
Underneath the love shape were five tiny…
Roots?
Well, they looked like it but as small and transparent as they looked, they were rather easily seen.
In any case, this was a plant of two sides that were not on the same side but needed each other to survive based on how they needed to grow from one point and share the same root.
The leaves almost looked like a four-lead water closer,, but they didn’t have round tops but pointed ones, so that couldn’t be said for them.
“Ah, what is this?” He asked, going closer to touch it.
He placed his hand gently on the plant’s tattooed form, and Alice winced.
“Wait, what happened?
Does it hurt?” “No, it doesn’t.
But it kind of tickles, I think.” She said.
“It’s a bit sensitive.” “So, you started feeling it again after you kissed Mark?” He asked her and she nodded.
“Was this your plan?
Did you want to check it out by kissing Mark?” Alice went silent.
Well, it wasn’t her plan.
Mark was the one who wanted the kiss.
But oh well, it worked out well in the end.
“I can feel them spreading their root around my heart and boosting my energy levels.” She said.
“Can you check my stats for me?
See if there’s a difference.” Leo did so right away and what he saw made him gape.
At the moment, Alice’s stagnant stats of 3 to 4 hundred had been boosted to 500.
Each other then.

Her strength, speed, agility, perception, and everything in between were all heightened.
“Ah, then doesn’t this mean that this is a good thing for you?” He asked.
“If you can utilize the power of this plant growing in you, then you might be able to max out your stats over and over.” “Hm, but didn’t you say it was dangerous at one point?” She asked.
“You said my pheromones were spiking up which may or may not attract guys to me.” “I don’t remember saying that last part.” He said with a blank expression.
“You didn’t need to say it.” She said.
“It was precisely what you were trying to say.” “Well, in any case, you’d still attract guys to you even if you weren’t trying.” He muttered and sighed.
“You just gotta give them a good knock in the head, and they’ll back off.
No big deal.” “I suppose so.” She was about to drop her shirt when he noticed something.
“Wait, hold on.” He said.
“Turn around, Alice.” “Why?” She asked while turning around and glancing over her shoulder.
“Is something wrong?” “Do you feel anything on your back?” He asked her.
“Like the flow of energy.” “Well,” she gave it a thought and closed her eyes, trying to feel it.
“Ah, now that you mentioned it.
I feel my blood rushing a lot more over my back and the roots…” She paused and opened her eyes.
“Hm?
The roots seem to be there too.” Leo squinted his eyes.
He could feel it too.
Aside from the plant tattoo above her navel, the next place where he could feel an enormous burst of energy coming from her back.
It could be a coincidence but…
He reached his hand towards the hem of her shirt and then raised it.
His eyes shrunk in as he found what he saw crawling on her back.
Goosebumps crawled all over his body for the first time since he manifested as a human and he took a step back, covering his mouth.
“Hey, what’s wrong?
What did you see?” Alice asked but Leo needed a moment to catch his breath.
She turned to him.
“Are you alright?” She asked.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you just saw a ghost that freaked you out of your mind.
So, what is it?
What did you see on my back?” “Roots and vines.” Leo answered, slowly dropping his hand from his mouth.
“Red and glowing.” Alice took two seconds to process his words but was still lost and she tilted her head.
“Huh?
Since when did you start speaking in parables?
I don’t understand what you mean by roots and vines, red and glowing.” “Oh, sorry.” He shook his head trying to clear his mind.
“I think you’ll understand it better if you see it for yourself.” He took her head and started leading her upstairs.
Alice wondered what was on her back, which not only spooked Leo but made him unable to explain.
He was usually very good with words, and he explained things in a way she could understand if they were too profound.
So, now, why could he not explain?
She soon understood what he meant when they got to her room and she saw her back for herself in the mirror.
She stared with a horrid look on her face.
On her back were crimson roots that looked like vines crawling all over her back.
There were some intertwined with black roots but the crimson was more prevalent.
What did this mean?
They were glowing and passing energy from random corners to one spot which seemed to be connected to her heart from behind.
The sight of the crimson was quite beautiful but at the same time, terrifying.
Alice covered her mouth.
And to think she wasn’t feeling any of it crawling around her back.
Well, maybe it was a good thing that she couldn’t feel it.
Who knows?
She might just get so irritated by the sensation that she would rip the skin on her back off.
“So, what’s this?” Alice asked, putting down her shirt.
“It appears they are the roots of the plant we see in front of you.” He explained.
“Compared to the plant’s small structure, the roots seem to have quite the…
Size.
Ahem.” He cleared his throat.
The sight was still something he wasn’t used to.
“Ah, I wish we stayed oblivious and didn’t see that.” Alice said equally dreading the sight.
“Me too.” Leo responded.
“But on the bright side, it will disappear soon, along with the plant tattoo.” “But it doesn’t change the fact that they will come back whenever I kiss someone.” “Then make it a thing that you don’t go around kissing anyone just because they asked for it.” He said, almost attempting to flick her forehead but remembered the incident from earlier that day and sighed.
‘At least now I don’t have to worry about her newfound kissing habit.’ “But I don’t want to stop though.” She said.
“I actually like kissing.” Ah, that wasn’t a response I was expecting to hear.
“You like…
Kissing?” He asked and then immediately noticed the door was open and someone was standing there.
He turned around sharply only to find Damian staring at them with a rather stunned expression which soon became flustered.
“U-um, I’m sorry.” Damian immediately apologized and they.
“I’m sorry for interrupting.
I wasn’t eavesdropping, I swear.” “Ah,” Leo exclaimed and dropped his hand on his head.
He had bigger things to worry about than Damian overhearing their conversation.
CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, he definitely heard that last part but that was really the least of their worries
