- Chapter 285 - Chapter 285 We both know I'm not the sentimental type
Chapter 285: We both know I’m not the sentimental type Chapter 285: We both know I’m not the sentimental type Leo did not say anything to Alice.
It wasn’t that he was ignoring her but the countless calculations in his head made it impossible to respond to her without giving her the wrong answer.
He was trying to figure out who that bastard behind his system’s new development was.
As far as he was concerned, he created the system motherboard on his own, using his own spirit energy, and backed up the power inputs from his constellation siblings.
But though their powers were shoved into the system, they had no power to control it, so it was neither of them.
For someone to be able to make an audit, they had to have the same thinking as him, and their spirit energy needed to be similar.
And as far as he was concerned, the only one similar to him in all that was ‘him’, his twin.
But there was no way he would’ve been able to make the audit where he was and what exactly would he gain from giving Alice an extra stat that could potentially destroy him?
A light gasp escaped his lips, and his eyes widened slightly.
It couldn’t be that he planned to control Alice with it, was it?
He massaged his temple.
Being in this world and in a body with so many limitations made it hard for him to comprehend what that other body was up to.
And even if he could tell what he was up to, there was no way he could stop him.
He didn’t have any authority of that sort while he was interfering in this body.
Things were getting far more complicated than he could ever imagine.
He needed to contact someone, anyone.
But how?
His mystic powers weren’t active and he couldn’t interfere too much.
That was the condition he set for himself but he had no idea something like this could happen.
“Will you finally tell me what’s going on with you?” Alice asked, placing her hand on his cheeks.
Leo snapped out of it and looked around.
He was in Alice’s room, and she was dressed in her nightwear while he sat on her bed with his legs folded, his elbow on his knee, and his chin resting on his knuckle.
He looked at her eyes to find her worriedly staring at him.
“Please, say something.
You’re scaring me.” She said and he blinked.
Ah, when did Alice know how to use words like that?
“Alice,” he called and she let out a sigh of relief.
“Thank goodness, you’re back.
You’ve been a walking zombie since we left the school premises.
I was…” She hugged him.

“So worried.” “Why were you worried?
I was right next to you, wasn’t I?” “Yes, you were.” She said and squeezed tighter, her falling gaze looking ever softly at the distance.
“But it felt like you weren’t here anymore.
You were like a walking shell.
No matter what I said, you didn’t respond.
No matter what I did, you didn’t react.
I got scared.
What if your spirit had suddenly disappeared, and all I was seeing was your body?
What if you had gone away from me?
A bunch of crazy thoughts filled my head, Leo.” She broke the hug and looked him in the eye.
“We both know I’m not the sentimental type but I’m serious.
I got so scared that my heart began to ache.
What would’ve happened if your spirit had really disappeared, leaving your body.
What would I…?” Leo snapped his fingers in front of her.
“Guess being sentimental doesn’t suit you.” He said and tittered.
“I like it when you’re feisty better than sentimental.” “Get serious, Leo.
I know you’re okay now, but the thought of never seeing you again one day made the situation even more unbearable.” She said, lowering her gaze.
“I feel like I’m in a movie, all of a sudden and that there’s this noble sacrifice that someone has to make.
Just like the saint’s sacrifice.
Leo, you can’t do that, got it?” “Hey, stop jinxing the future.” He flicked her forehead.
“I’m here right now, aren’t I?” He said without answering her question.
He brushed it aside as smoothly as he could and held her hands.
“Something looked off in your system, and my mind was trying to sort things out; that’s why I couldn’t respond even if I wanted to.” He kissed her hands.
“Let me explain it in a simple form for you so I don’t torture you to try and understand,” he laughed.
“Imagine a computer having to process the new commands sent to it.
A command like copying the presented document and rearranging it into a hundred paragraphs.
While the computer is trying to do that, someone else comes to the computer and tries to ask something like, what’s the square root of 500?” He smiled at her and she nodded, understanding everything so far.
“Do you think the computer would be able to answer that question easily even if it’s such a simple question for it?” He asked and she shook her head.
“It has to be done with the documents, right?
And that’s what happened to me.” “I see.” “Let’s both remember that the only way I can manifest here is my connection to the system board I created.
And so long as I’m connected to ‘your’ system, I will still remain here with you.” His gaze fell slightly.
“So, I’m no different from a computer with a free will.
While my mind is like an interface, my real spirit is but a spec of dust managing that massive interface.” “Pft, spec of dust.” Alice laughed and he laughed as well, glad that she had finally lightened up.
He hated that look on her face.
It reminded him too much of the past.
“So, you see,” he drew her in for a hug.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and dropped his head on her stomach.
“I will be right here with you, no matter what.” “That’s nice to hear.” Alice said, brushing his hair.
“So, did you fix the problem?” She asked him but he shook his head.
“Not yet, but it’s nothing for you to worry about.
I won’t let it affect anything.” He said and raised his head to meet her eyes.
“And I’m sorry for making you worry.
That look on your face, you should never have it because of me.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Well, I’m trying.
