- Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Let's use a lightbulb, for example
Chapter 30: Let’s use a lightbulb, for example Chapter 30: Let’s use a lightbulb, for example A predicament.
There was nothing on that dark floor that was considered edible to eat.
Unless…
Alice had her eyes on the minotaurs but quickly shook her head.
They were already past edible, even if they didn’t have toxic insides.
Alice pinched her nose as she walked past the smelling decayed bodies of the dead minotaurs.
“I thought monsters didn’t decay.” She said.
*They don’t, with proper preservation.* The voice said.
*And that’s why their body parts can be auctioned out even after weeks of being dead.* “Ugh.
Just how many days has it been anyway?” *By my calculations, four.* It answered.
“Four days?
And they’re already rotting like this?” *No, not four days.
Four weeks.* Alice’s jaw dropped.
“It’s been that long?
You mean to tell me I’ve been in this freaking tower for more than a month?” *Yes.* That didn’t bother the voice in her head but it bothered her.
Not only had she spent several days going up fifty floors, but she also went unconscious for an entire month.
This was proving to be a lot different than she imagined.
She thought she would just go into the gate, kill all the monsters in the dungeon, and walk out like nothing happened.
All in the snap of a finger.
How arrogant of her.
“Sigh!” She sighed and rested on the wall once more.
“I’m so hungry I could die.” *Just hang in there a little longer.
If we find a monster, I may have a way to process it so the toxins don’t affect you.* “You want me to eat monster meat?
Aren’t you the one who always guided against that idea?” *…* “Well?” She raised an eyebrow.
*This is a matter of life and death.
I didn’t want us to be slowed down just because you wanted to stop and have a snack when it wasn’t necessary.* Alice’s eyes twitched.
It wasn’t necessary?
Hah, this voice was just doing whatever it liked.
“So, you have a way to process the monsters and get rid of the toxins?
How?” She asked as she folded her arms.

*You’ll see.
But first, let’s catch a monster.* “I don’t know if I have enough energy in case a group of monsters suddenly appear.
So I’ll need to find just one.” She activated her third eye and her right eye emanated blue flame, allowing her to see through anything.
She could see through walls and possibly the entire floor she was currently on.
If she put in enough mana, that is.
Monsters weren’t the only ones who possessed mana.
It was just that they had cores that were able to strengthen awakeneds.
Awakeneds, being powered by the system, naturally had mana flowing through them.
Their ability to harness that mana inside of them and utilize it properly was their ticket to growing stronger.
Let’s use a light bulb, for example.
A light bulb’s function is to illuminate light, right?
But at certain times, the light bulb isn’t able to carry out its function and has poor output, therefore producing dim light.
If that light bulb can learn to utilize the power it has, it can shine brighter than anyone else.
But if it doesn’t know how to utilize that power, it usually stays dim, and there are times it goes out of control, going beyond its capacity and trying to shine too bright.
You know what happens next.
*Kpoof* It blows.
Only those bulbs with high voltage volume could withstand a high output but that did not mean they could never blow.
And the S-class awakeneds were those bulbs with high voltage volume but if they did too much, trying to surpass what the system could handle, they could blow as well.
And Alice, being an exception as she was a girl with no system and literally no limit, had mana that was far greater than any other on earth, as it was originally otherworldly.
And that was why the mana testers always went out of order when used on her.
And luckily for her, she didn’t need to be cautious with her mana output.
Unlike the others who were like bulbs, Alice was like the freaking sun.
But in the end, she was still human and humans were bound to have limits.
And that was why the voice in her head was doing all it could to make her go past that limit before the effects of its power on her started to take effect.
And taking her into a red gate filled with some of the worst creatures on the planet was just the right way to train her.
“Alright.
I see one.” Alice said, hiding behind a pillar.
She was using her third eye to see through the pillar in front of her and the rest that was blocking her way.
It was another minotaur.
It would seem it was awfully late for the party or it ran away while the voice that took control of her body was finishing off its comrades.
“There’s a monster just ahead.
So, do I attack it or wait?” She decided she would listen to the voice.
At least, till she was out of the dungeon tower.
*You should attack it while it hasn’t sensed your presence yet.* The voice said.
“Got it.” She spun her hammer in one hand and got set to attack the monster that was yet to notice her presence.
But it was odd.
It was a strengthened minotaur and with its senses, it should’ve been able to feel her hiding behind the pillar, right?
‘Ah, yes.
It’s a musclehead.
Traded its senses for power.’ she thought and clutched her hammer’s handle tightly.
She was going to give it her best shot.
She may not be able to take it down in one strike if she made a mistake and she was out of energy as well.
‘Here I go.’ she thought and dashed forward.
In an instant, she got to where the minotaur was, surprising herself.
But she did not let herself stay surprised and beheaded the minotaur before it even knew what was going on.
Its head fell to the ground and rolled, and its body fell backward.
Alice stared at her hands.
She could feel so much power.
