- Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 It was like a slaughter ground
Chapter 31: It was like a slaughter ground Chapter 31: It was like a slaughter ground “Whoa, did I get faster?” Alice asked, shocked by the speed she used.
She didn’t expect to get to the minotaur so fast, and she took its head off without much effort, too.
*I told you, thanks to the battle I used your body to fight, you were able to get stronger.* “Yeah, but I could’ve sworn you said something like I wouldn’t be able to use that power because I was out of energy.
So, what’s this?” *…
My bad.* “Unbelievable.” She dropped to the floor to sit down.
It even joked that she would run mad if she tried to use the power it had accumulated during the fight with the minotaurs.
But she used it and nothing happened.
Well, not exactly nothing.
She could feel her stomach grumbling even more now.
“So, tell me, how do I process this?” She asked.
*I’ll be taking over your body for a while.* It said.
“Tch, it’s not like the first time.
You didn’t take permission before so why bother now?” *It was all in times of emergency.
Please understand.* It said and she closed her eyes.
“Alright, just get it over with.
I’m guessing by the time I open my eyes, you’ll be done already.” She said.
*Alice, let me just say this before I take over your body.* It said and she opened her eyes.
*Monster meat isn’t exactly the same as the meat you eat regularly.* “I’ll say.” She exclaimed whilst rolling her eyes.
*Monsters can live for thousands of years as long as their manager cores are intact.
You can say it’s their source of life.
And that core distributes its power all over their body and…
What are you doing?* Alice, who got bored of the long explanation, was drawing a turtle on the minotaur’s chest with its own blood.
It was crazy.
“Oh, are you done?” She asked and if the voice could palm its face, it would’ve done so.
*I’m talking to an imbecile.* It said.
“Hey, I didn’t ask for long explanations.
Just tell the key point and get on with it.
I’m starving.” *Ugh, you’ll figure it out yourself.* It said and without warning, took over her body, causing her to fall unconscious.
But this time, she did not wake up as soon as she felt herself go unconscious.
She had something like a vision.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
It was dark.
Was it nightfall?
She looked up.
The sun was there but it was as red as blood.
It dyed the sky red as well.
“What is this?” She whispered and took a step but realized there was something underneath her feet.
She looked down and found the body of dead monsters all around her.
She jolted, shocked.
Because of the reddened sun, she could not see clearly, but she was able to tell that all around her were dead monsters.
Fallen buildings, monsters, bones.
It was like a slaughter ground, and it was in the middle of the city.
She recognized a fallen and crumbled billboard.
But the last thing she remembered, it was standing perfectly in its position.
Then, if that billboard was there, then…
This must be a place she was very familiar with.
So how in the world did it become like this?
“What in the hell is going on?” She walked on top of the monsters.
She walked for a while but couldn’t spot anyone.
No human.
If there were these many dead monsters, weren’t there supposed to be at least one or two humans around carrying out the deed?
Even if they were dead, shouldn’t she see a body at least?
Where were they?
The world seemed …empty.
And then, she heard a cough.
She looked up and heard it once more.
She hurried towards where the person was and found them, lying on the floor, surrounded by dead monsters and a hammer lying right next to her.
The hammer looked awfully familiar.
It looked just like the one she had with her.
Her eyes widened, and she decided to go closer to take a look but an invisible wall stopped her.
She punched the wall but it wouldn’t break, like it was made to stop her by all means.
She heard the person on the floor cough once more.
She tried to look closer but she couldn’t see their face.
But then, she heard them talk and realized it was a female voice, much resembling hers.
It was her imagination, right?
Because it felt like that person on the floor might’ve been her.
“I guess I came a long way.
You finally showed yourself.” She was talking and looking up like the person, or thing, rather, she was talking to, was right above her.
“Evil eye.” As soon as she said that, Alice looked up, only to find an enormous golden eye looking down at her.
The shock brought her back to reality and she opened her eyes, gasping loudly and in fright.
She clutched her chest, finding it hard to draw breath.
What was that?
What was that thing?
It was so big and terrifying.
Was that an eye?
Of a monster?
It was too big to be called a monster.
Then…
Was it a demon?
But what was it doing in her head?
What was that scene exactly?
She was confused.
Such a thing never happened, right?
If that sort of monster appeared then the world would’ve been destroyed already.
The world…
*What’s wrong?* The voice asked, and for a moment, Alice felt she saw someone sitting in front of her, but when she blinked, there was no one.
It was dark so it might’ve been her mind playing tricks on her.
There was no one other than her.
But she looked around with her eyes, just in case and even activated her third eye.
There was no one, not even a monster around her.
*You seem spooked.
Do you feel anything ominous?* She shook her head and tried to recollect her thoughts.
It was so bizarre but she wanted to ask anyway.
“H-hey, this is gonna sound crazy, but we live in an era where there are monsters and superheroes, so I don’t think it’s all that crazy, but…
Are you from the future?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah A precise question to ask
