Chapter 310: Since when did you become a lovesick maiden?
They had their ice cream, with Damian subconsciously licking his thumb after wiping a bit of ice cream from Alice’s cheek.
He flushed really hard because he was embarrassed but Alice laughed it off.
“All in good spirit, eh.” She said and kept laughing but he only flushed harder.
“So sorry.”
“Anyway, Diane, I wanted to ask since you aren’t exactly normal, do you go to regular classes, or are you in an Awakened class in your school?” Alice asked and Damian looked up, also curious.
“Well, I’m in the E-class for awakeneds in my school.” She said. “I’m not exactly an Awakened, so I can’t brag like the rest, and I don’t want to get caught as being a ‘special case’ so I lay low a lot and act weak like the rest of them.”
“Hm, but I’m certain you can take on B-class awakeneds though.” Alice said, licking her spoon and Diane nodded.
“Yeah, when I’m wearing my gauntlet. I can’t really do shit without items and equipment. So while I’m bare, I’m next to normal.” She explained and dropped her cup on the table. “Well, I don’t really mind. It’s already okay that I can go to school and be next to normal. So, I have nothing to complain about.” She looked up at Alice. “So, what about you? How are you enjoying your school life, Miss Popular?”
“Ugh, don’t even go there.” Alice threw her face away in annoyance and Damian laughed.
“Alice doesn’t do much in class.” He answered on her behalf. “We’re usually quietly sitting at the back with Leo, minding our own business.”
“Oh, you two are deskmates then.” She pointed with her spoon, fascinated. “But who is this Leo?”
“He’s…” Damian paused. “Alice, I think it’s your call to explain this.”
“Oh, Leo?” She scratched her face. “He’s this guy that takes good care of me and acts as my slave, muhahaha.” She laughed manically.
A busy Leo happened to sneeze and exclaimed,
“Alice is probably talking bad about me.”
Diane looked at Alice like she had lost her mind. But with the kind of energy and sensual power she was giving out, she’d doubt if there was any man who wouldn’t want to be a slave to her.
But she had her doubts that that was the reason he was a slave to her.
“Leo is my friend too.” Damian answered after nervously laughing at Alice’s description of Leo. “He takes good care of Alice and understands her very well, but they bicker a lot, and sometimes they even get into a serious fight. They exchange punches, hitting the other hard. It gets scary when they get to that point since it looks like they’ll hurt each other, or rather, they might hurt the others who get caught up in their fight, but in less than a minute, they’re back to how they were. It’s as if they were two sides of a magnet. Fascinating to watch but sometimes worrying that they’re never on the same page.”
“And Leo lectures me a lot.” Alice added, raising her hand to beacon on the waiter who was moving around and clearing tables. “But just as he nags me, he also cares about me, my safety, and my comfort. I’m really grateful, and I don’t know what I’d do without him, honestly. I can’t even go anywhere without him. It’s like I’m depending on his existence to keep moving.” She scratched her neck awkwardly. “Something like that.”
The waiter came, and Alice ordered a bucket of ice cream. Once he was gone, she found the both of them staring at her in awe.
“Alice, I might be wrong but that sounded like a confession.” Diane said. “You can’t live without him? Since when did you become a lovesick maiden?”
“Cut it out. It’s nothing like that.” Alice slammed at her and she chuckled, choosing to believe her own eyes and ears.
“Yeah, it’s nothing like that.” Damian said. “I understand what Alice means. After all, Leo is sort of her familiar.”
“Huh? Familiar? What’s that?”
“It’s like an entity that forms a pact with their owner or master, whatever works.” Damian explained. “Am I right, Alice?”
“Yeah, that’s it. And right now, you can’t see Leo because he’s in my mind, charging up.” Alice explained, slowly bowing her head. “If he were here, he’d be watching me as I ate my ice cream, reminding me that I was a person of my own and I didn’t need to abide by others rules. He… Takes really good care of me, Diane. I might’ve never been able to get to this point if not for him. He… Saved me.”
That was the truth she kept in her heart, refusing to expose in words. Maybe she was only confident now because he wasn’t there and she knew he couldn’t hear her. Her pride might’ve been stopping her all along even if she had realized it for a long time.
Knowing what had happened to her in her past life, and how things were very different this time around with the chance Leo gave her, the chance to rewrite it all, she was more than grateful.
She might’ve not cared in the past but she had become a different person. A changed person whose eyes were opened. But that didn’t change the fact that she was still lazy.
At least now, she didn’t dare look away if she saw a plight.

“This Leo sounds like a great guy.” Diane said as the waiter dropped Alice’s bucket of ice cream and left.
She opened it with a smile on her lips and said,
“Really, he’s the best.”
Diane shifted her gaze to Damian, who smiled, but behind that smile, she could see the hidden disappointment.
‘Not what I had in mind when I said he was going to her, his heart broken, but it still happened either way.’ she thought. ‘And to think he lost to something that’s not human.’
“So, will your school also have the sports event?” Damian asked, shifting the topic and directing the question to Diane.
“Yeah, I guess so. I ain’t doing much since I can’t do anything. I just sit on the sidelines.”
“I’m so jealous.” Alice said. “I wanted to sit on the sidelines too but… Ugh, that darn Philip wouldn’t let me.”
“And who is Philip this time?” Diane asked, with lazy interest in her eyes. She’d been hearing a lot of guys’ names and wondered if Alice was only surrounded by guys.
“He’s the trainer training Alice’s group. They seem to have a beef together.” Damian explained. “Plus, he’s the grandson of the chairman of the worldwide Awakened Association.”
Diane’s eyes widened.
“What? Really?” She asked in surprise and Damian nodded.
“Yeah,”
“That brat doesn’t know how to treasure what he has. I’mma teach him a lesson the next time he dates to open his wide trap of a mouth and spew nonsense at Gramps.” Alice looked pissed. “Seriously, he’s a really nice old man.”
“And she also knows the chairman of the Awakened’s association.” Diane said, palming her face as if seeing that coming.
Well, she was a big shot now, so it was understandable but…
“Then, do you also know the leader of the awakened agency?” She asked, deciding to bet on it. If she knew the chairman, then she’d know the leader, right?
“You mean Noah?” Alice asked and Diane closed her eyes, nodding her head. Sure she knew him. “We met for the first time yesterday, though. And don’t worry, I gave him a good smack on our behalf.”
