Chapter 312: Hey, that’s supposed to be my line
Alice’s forehead creased after hearing his words. He was acting like such a romantic these days. Just the other day, he held her as though she would get taken by someone else and he would never see her again.
It couldn’t be that he was falling for her, right?
Diane stared at the masked man in surprise. Who was this? He had this creepy and dark vibe about him. But guess that’s what this whole mysterious get-up was all about.
“Wait, is this who you have an appointment with?” She asked and Alice dropped her head to look at her.
“Ah, yes. Diane, this is Micheal. He’s an S-class awakened under the snow guild.” Alice introduced him. “Also, he’s my friend.”
“Wow, another S-class. You have quite the people around you, Alice.” Diane exclaimed and glanced at Micheal.
How was anyone supposed to tell what this man was thinking when his entire face was covered? How was Alice even able to become friends with a faceless man? Didn’t it make her uncomfortable when she couldn’t tell if he was laughing at her secretly? Or worse, he could be lying over his teeth.
“Hm, if you’re here to steal Alice away,” Alice said to Micheal, “Then go ahead. I’ll leave her in your care.”
She stepped forward, stretching her gloved hand for a handshake.
“I’m Diane, by the way. Also, Alice’s friend.” She spoke and he gazed down at her hand.
“Ah, I know you.” He said, also reaching out his own gloved hands. He shook her and said, “I watched that day.”
Diane’s eyebrows furrowed. He ‘watched’ that day? What was that supposed to mean? Wait, what day was he talking about?
She didn’t remember acting in a soap opera for anyone to watch.
“Micheal, don’t be rude, okay?” Alice said and he dropped his hand from the handshake.
“Of course. Why would I be rude to a friend of my dear Alice?” He asked and snickered. Alice shook her head and turned to Diane who had her eyes on him.
“Diane, today was fun. Let’s meet again sometime, okay?” Alice said to her.
“Yeah, I’ll call you later to know if you’ve gotten home safely.” Diane said, suspiciously looking at Micheal and Alice snickered.
“Hey, that’s supposed to be my line.” She clapped Diane’s hand. “But not in two hours, okay? Maybe three or four. I’ve got something serious to do so I can’t afford the distraction.”
It only made Diane wonder why this ‘serious’ thing was and if it had anything to do with Micheal. But she couldn’t ask if Alice wasn’t telling her upfront. She sighed and said,
“Sure. See you later then.”
Damian also nodded, and Alice waved at him, and he walked closer.
“Sorry, we had to cut things short here.” She said.
“Oh, not at all. It was fun all the while.” He confessed, his face retaining a bit of flush. “I learned a lot of things thanks to you.”
“Please, tell me the things you learned from me aren’t how to kill ruthlessly.” She palmed her face and Diane laughed.
“N-no, it’s not that.” Damian said. “It’s not.”
Hearing that, Alice let out a sigh of relief.
“If it’s not then that’s a relief.” She patted his shoulder. “Tell Devon I said, ‘Great job,’ okay?” She smiled at him.
Damian’s eyes glinted, staring at her smile and he slowly lowered his head saying,
“I… I will.” He blushed.
“Now, let’s get going.” Diane smacked his back. “And leave those two alone. Say bye to Domus for me, okay?”

“Yeah,”
“Bye,” Damian said and started leaving, but then he realized something. “Wait, hold on a minute.”
He took off the coat he had been wearing and handed it to Alice.
“Here, thanks for everything.” He said, smiling brightly, and then he ran off.
Alice looked at the coat and went,
“Oh, I completely forgot I gave this to him.” She said and put it on.
“Why are you putting on another man’s coat in front of me, dear Alice?” Micheal asked and she could feel the sourness in his tone. Was he pouting?
“As a matter of fact, this coat belongs to me.” She said but he found it hard to believe since it was way bigger than her. But then it started shrinking till it appeared in the size that suited her the most.
The size and color she liked a lot. Black with blue flames at the side.
“It’s a defense item. I gave it to him to keep him safe while I got my hands dirty.”
“Ooh, I see.” He said, quite fascinated at how it suddenly shrunk in size. “But it doesn’t change the fact that that man’s scent is all over you now.”
“Then, what would you have me do? It was an emergency.” She said and he hugged her.
“No matter. I’ll just rub mine all over you.” He said. “If it’s my scent on you, I’d very much appreciate it.”
Alice was almost freaked out by his sudden ‘affection’, but she gave it up, sighing to release the pent-up stress on her face.
“Just let me know when you’re done.” She said, tucking her hands in the pocket of her jacket and he smiled.
“I will.” He sounded pleased.
Alice felt she was trying to please a little child throwing a tantrum. Such big work.
It didn’t really help matters that they were in the middle of the road and dragging attention to themselves but so long as he covered her face in his arms, even if others took pictures, she didn’t care.
“By the way,” Michael began to speak with his arms still wrapped around her. “Where’s that loyal familiar of yours?”
“Oh, you mean Leo?” Alice asked. “Micheal, don’t refer to Leo as a familiar in front of me again.” She seriously said, though he could not see her face. “He’s my friend. So, if you want to ask of him, ask about my friend. Did I make myself clear?”
Micheal was a bit stunned and then he looked at her face to see Alice glaring. Wait, that wasn’t a glare, but her eyes… He could see it.
The reason he loved her eyes so much. That glint of gold that momentarily took shade in her eyes was beyond precious.
“Aye,” his words were soft as he stared into her eyes. “I heard you loud and clear, my dear. I will, from now on, refer to him as your friend. Does that make you feel any better?” He asked, taking a lock of her hair in his hand. And without waiting for a response, he added, “You look truly stunning today,”
