Chapter 313: I meant an invitation
“You look truly stunning today,” Micheal said and Alice’s right eyebrow twitched.
“Hey, don’t try to flatter me. It won’t do you any good.” She said to him, trying to shrug him off.
“Oh, but I’m just being sincere. Your appearance today is quite unlike the usual but you look stunning regardless.”
Alice went silent. He was flattering her so shamelessly. Was he hoping to achieve anything? Did he want something from her?
If it was to go into the auction house with her out of curiosity then he should just forget it because that was a no. She went alone the last time, so it would be suspicious if she brought a company this time around. And more so when she was meeting the supplier of that disgusting product.
She would get her answers from him and then finish him off. No use leaving such a dangerous person alive.
“Given how you look right now, let’s hope a situation like the last time does not repeat itself.” Micheal suddenly whispered in her ear and her eyes slowly widened. “Because I don’t think I’ll be able to hold myself back with you in a quiet room like that.”
Alice turned towards him, dropped her hand on his chest, and pushed him back without so much moving a muscle. It looked like a light push, but for some reason, he could not keep his balance, and he toppled over, his back hitting the ground.
Alice glared down at him, her eyebrows furrowed greatly, her hand still as it was when she pushed him, and a slight sense of dissatisfaction in her tone as she said,
“Don’t cross the line, Micheal. I’ll only say it this once.” She dropped her hand. “Now, will you be a good boy?”
Micheal’s body shuddered, even after she had released the pressure from him. It was only a bit, but she distorted his weight, making him unable to stand or move his body freely.
But now that she let go, he shuddered in excitement. She was punishing him and it felt good. He was obsessed with her punishment and when she made him lose face in front of others.
If anyone else did this to him, he’d have gone for their heads, but when it was with her… Oh, he couldn’t help but flush at her treatment.
“Yes, yes,” he said. “I will be a good boy for you, my dear. Or should I just call you master?”
She felt goosebumps all over her body as she shuddered and said,
“Don’t talk like a creep and get up already. Let’s get a move on.”
Micheal stood to his feet, dusted his body, and went to curry favor from her by softly massaging her shoulder.
“Yes, my dear. Let’s not waste any more time.”
If his face was exposed, she would’ve been able to see just how twisted and wrung his expression was. How twisted and excited he felt.
He was a weirdo, that was a fact but that was the one word he would not tolerate anyone calling him. Anyone but Alice, of course.
They got to a coffee shop and waited on Michael’s directives. According to him, the address of the new gate into the devil’s shrine would be passed on to whoever had a key once they were settled.
“A key?” Alice asked. “Since when did we use a key? It’s a portal, right?”
“Oh, my bad. I meant an invitation.” Micheal corrected his words. “It’s more or less a key that allows us in but I’ll just call it an invite for now.”
“Okay, so we have an invite, then what?” She brought out her invitation card and he looked at it.
“You’re extraordinary, Alice.” He suddenly exclaimed. “You got yourself a VIP pass from such a high-end place. I’m jealous.”
Alice ignored him. As if he didn’t already have something like that.
She glanced away while drinking the Choco tea she ordered. Then, she spied on Micheal to find him staring at her.
Her eyes slowly fell down to the untouched glass of water in front of him and then she realized something.
She has never seen Micheal take in anything before. Not water, nor food. The only times he’s ever really shown his lips was when he wanted to kiss her.
Maybe he didn’t fancy eating, and since he was a mage who could replenish his energy through other means, he didn’t bother with it.

“Are you curious, Alice?” Micheal suddenly asked, catching her gaze and sending her curiosity.
“Well, I’m not ‘that’ curious, but if you want to tell me, you can go ahead.” She said, putting down her cup of chocolate.
“It is as you see it.” Micheal said. “I never eat. At least, not in public where even a single eye can see me.”
“Then, do you eat at home when it’s just you?” Alice asked him and he nodded.
“Yes, but rarely.” He placed his interlocked hands on the table. “I don’t have time to worry about the kitchen when I have different problems to worry about. I carry out research, meditate a lot in hopes of increasing my mana level, and often walk around, patrolling the city. So, there is really no time to eat.”
“Wow, you’ve got it rough, I guess.” Alice exclaimed. “You don’t look it, but you’re a hard worker… Only when you want to be.”
“Yeah,” he slightly snickered. “Only when it calls for it do I move my feet and if the reason is not convincing enough, I just ignore it.”
“Even when it has to do with human lives?” Alice asked, her mind running back to the fact that he stood still and watched as she protected the kids while battling Big Stach’s clones.
Not that she needed his help since she had everything under control, he should’ve at least done something.
“Isn’t it the job of heroes to prioritize human lives above all?” Alice asked. “At least, that’s what I think, seeing how the survival of our kind is of utmost importance.”
“Do ‘you’ believe protecting humans is of utmost importance?” Micheal asked her with a straight tone, telling her he had a straight face. “Even at the risk of putting your own life on the line? Do you think it’s worth it when they could end up turning their backs on you at the slightest chance just to save their own skin? Do you think… The lives of others are more important than yours?”
