Chapter 324: It’s not fair
“Let me do this for you. This is all I can be good for when it comes to one’s usefulness, and I…” Micheal kissed the back of her palm softly. “Want to be very useful to you.”
Alice was a bit taken aback. She didn’t know what to say or even how to react. He was edging himself to be a sword that kills. Well, it wasn’t like it was a big deal… Except it was a BIG deal.
Why would he want to kill on her behalf? Just what sorts of thoughts were roaming through his head? He wasn’t a killer for hire. He was an awakened tasked with saving the world by the constellations.
“So, you want to… Help me kill, just because you don’t want the stench of death to linger around me any further?” She asked and he nodded. “Why go so far, Micheal?” She asked him. “I know we’re friends but isn’t this cutting it too far?”
“No, it’s not too far. For my one and only friend, this is just right.” He said. “Alice, you may not understand but this is very important to me. You…” He drew her closer in a gentle manner and smiled, his lips curling up so beautifully. “… Are the one I’ve been waiting for.”
If only Alice could see his face and maybe take a look at his eyes… She might’ve understood this situation so much better.
But with his face covered, she had no idea what kind of gaze his eyes held as he said those words.
“I really don’t get you, Micheal.” She said, gently pushing him away by the chest. “And I don’t get what your intentions are. I don’t know your feelings. I want to ask, but I’m scared to hear your answer.” She glanced up at him. “So, I won’t ask, and I wish you never disclose your feelings to me. I believe we’ll be able to keep going if you just listen to me.”
“I will, Alice. I’ll listen to you. Whatever melody plays in my heart, I will not speak of it.” He said, and she sighed.
“As for killing. Let’s put that on hold. I don’t think I’ll be going around seeking any evil to cleanse for the time being.” She said, looking at her hand. It still feels weird but she couldn’t quite put her fingers into it, what that weird and nagging feeling was.
“Yes,” he answered. “I will wait on your call about this matter and will not act without your permission.”
“What is this? A master-servant relationship?” She asked, weirded out by his words, but that only made him glint, and he grabbed her hands.
“I would very much like it to be so.” He said and that gave her goosebumps.
“What?!” She exclaimed but he carried on.
“Oh, dear master, do not abandon this lowly servant of yours.” He said, rubbing his masked face on her arm but it was so weird that Alice had to knock him down.
“Will you quit it? I’m not going to indulge you in such a kinky act.” She shivered. “Just thinking about it makes my spine curl. You’re a grown man, for crying out loud.”
“A grown man with a few hidden tendencies.” He chuckled. “And I would very much like to fulfill them with you, Alice. If you’d let me.” He politely requested, only to get shot down coldly with a blunt refusal.
“No way!” Alice answered and it stabbed his heart.
Well, he knew it wouldn’t be easy. But he was glad they had come this far.
“It’s alright,” he said and sat on the bed. He pushed his mask up slightly, revealing his lips once more. “So, Alice dear,” he grabbed her hand once more, pulling her to himself and hugged her waist, gazing up at her.
He had given up the gentlemanly act and was now doing as he pleased,
“You promised, didn’t you?”
“Promised?” Alice asked, a bit confused. “What did I promise?”
“You promised to offer one more kiss and then I’d take responsibility by taking you home.” He said and Alice exclaimed,
“Oh, that promise.” She said. “But I didn’t exactly promise, I just said I’d offer a kiss and…” He found him pouting.
His lips were… Pouting.
She almost burst out laughing but kept it in.
“It’s not fair,” he said, snuggling on her stomach.
“W-wait, don’t… Don’t do that.” She said, covering her mouth. “It tickles.”
“Then, will you not kiss me like you said you would?” He asked, glancing up at her and she looked down at him.

She really wanted to see his face. She wanted to gaze at his eyes, wondering what kind of hue sparkled when he acted so spoiled while asking for a kiss.
She wondered how his eyebrows were if they were thick and rough or thin. His eyelashes… She was sure they were long.
Her fingers brushed the mask softly, the places she felt his eyes and eyebrows were.
He must have a flawless face.
But then he had a scar. So, she had no idea if it had taken up most of his face to make him so insecure that he wore two masks.
And then, her fingers slid down to his lips. She grazed his soft lips, pressed her fingers on them, and bit her own lips.
“I do… Want to kiss you.” She said, her cheeks slightly flushing. “You make it so hard to resist, Micheal.”
“That makes me feel glad.” He said, closing his eyes to enjoy her fingers on his lips. “Your finger tastes awful,” he suddenly said, and Alice took back her hand, remembering she hadn’t washed her hand after what she had done in the auction house.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll go wash my hands first.” She said, freeing herself from his grip, but then he caught her hand once again and dragged her to the bed.
He got on top of her and smiled,
“It’s alright.” He said. “We don’t need to use your hands after all.” Slowly, he leaned closer.
“You don’t have to say it like that.” She said, slightly flushing. They had done it a number of times but she was getting embarrassed all of a sudden. “Let’s just… Get this over with.” She said.
Her heart was thumping and so was his. She could feel it with her hand pressed on his chest. Was he also nervous? She wouldn’t know because of his mask.
It was always his mask obstructing everything.
And even if she took off the first, she wouldn’t still be able to see his face thanks to the second.
“Are you nervous?” She suddenly asked him and he nodded, to her surprise. “Why?”
“Because I’m scared I’ll make a mistake.” He said. “And I don’t want to make a mistake.”
“What kind of mistake?” He asked but that only made his heart race more.
‘Wow,’ Alice thought in astonishment. ‘Is there something I don’t know?’ she wondered and just as Micheal was about to kiss her, the noise barrier he had used to silence their environment broke.
Loud and excited moans intercepted their space, making the atmosphere suddenly awkward and Micheal immediately put it back up.
He dropped his head in embarrassment.
“I’m sorry.” He apologized. “I lost my focus for a moment.”
But Alice laughed. It was so hilarious, knowing he got so focused that he subconsciously broke the noise barrier he had put up.
“You really are nervous.” She said. “Is it because I’m too hard to resist?” She teased, but he actually took it seriously and nodded.
“Yes, Alice. You’re so alluring. You blur my mind and… You’re too hard to resist.”
Alice’s heart skipped a beat.
What… Huh?
She was certain that Micheal was blushing under his mask but that aside… Why would he say something like that?
Was this an effect of the red veins? Was that side manifesting its power and charming Micheal?
But she could not feel it. He did not seem like he was under a spell either. So… She was confused.
“I’ll kiss you now, Alice.” He said with a silent voice and just as he said, he planted his lips on hers.
The long-awaited kiss that he anticipated for the two hours as he waited for her to be done with what she came to the devil’s shrine for.
He kissed her with his feelings, softly and didn’t rush it. He felt if he rushed it and made Alice lose her breath, it would be over as soon as it started.
He wanted to savor her lips, her warmth.
Her hands clutched his chest and her eyes were closed, giving in to his kiss and the spell he had cast on her.
(It’s a metaphor)
She was out of breath, but even then, she did not want to let go. She did not want to break the kiss and end their contact.
She wanted more of it but knew she could not go past this point. If she did… No, it was impossible.
Just as they were kissing, someone suddenly appeared. He rubbed his neck in exhaustion and sighed but as he opened his eyes, he paused as he found Alice in bed with a man.
It was Micheal, obviously from the color of his clothes. But… What were they doing on a bed? This was new.
His eyebrows furrowed in spite as soon as he noticed they were in one of the rooms in the red-light district of the devil’s shrine.
He had no idea how things came to this or what they planned to do afterward, but he didn’t want it to go on any further. So, he interfered.
“What are you two doing?” He asked and Alice pushed Micheal away right away as though she was a cheating wife who just heard her husband walk in on her affair.
“L-Leo!” She said, barely breathing normally. “You… you’re back!”
“Yes, and heavens, the first thing I saw just had to be you smooshing your lips with Micheal in a room such as this.” He folded his arms in annoyance. “So tell me, what did I miss?”
