Chapter 326: Don’t you find it strange?
Alice sat with her thighs tightly pressed together and her lips pursed in guilt. She felt she had committed a crime for some reason. Maybe it was because Leo seemed very mad.
He had never gotten so mad, so seeing him like this… She couldn’t help but feel nervous.
The silence was also quite stiffening. There was silence. There was total silence, and all she could hear was her beating heart, it was definitely going to shake if Leo reprimanded her for her actions.
Did he also hate the idea of her killing countless in a day? But she had a good reason. He wouldn’t scold her if she had a good reason, would he?
“Alice, what did you do?” Leo asked, finally breaking the silence.
“Instead of asking me all that, why don’t you just look at my memories instead? It’s not up to 24 hours so I’m sure it’ll be easy for you.” She said but Leo gritted his teeth.
He already looked at her memories. In the silence, he searched through all she did today, the lives she took, and even felt her anger, as well as her regret as she took the life of the last person.
But… He wanted to hear it from her. Just what did she think she did?
“Alice, what did you do?” He repeated his question, and Alice felt something different.
It wasn’t anger, it wasn’t rage.
Leo wasn’t asking her how she spent her day, he was asking her what she did. And she finally understood it.
“I took several lives.” She answered calmly, her eyes fixed on her hands. “With my hands, I killed a lot of people.”
It didn’t matter what her reasons were. She still did what she did. She killed.
“And because of that, I have the stench of death lingering around me.” She said, clenching her fists.
Why was she just feeling it? That strange feeling… When she felt something was wrong somewhere, she was just realizing what it was. It wasn’t normal.
It wasn’t normal to kill people and feel okay about it, even
Leo looked at her state and sighed.
“Alice, I don’t have anything against you killing people, especially if they did cruel things.” He said and she raised her head, surprised. “But don’t you find it strange that despite all the lives you took, despite all of that, you did not feel anything?”
“What? I… I don’t understand.” She said.
“Don’t you find it strange?” He asked her but she still stared at him, confused. “You killed so many people, and yes, they were criminals, but you felt nothing about ‘killing’. You did it like it was normal, like it was a walk in the park.” He pointed out. “You murdered people, Alice. You’re not supposed to feel okay, despite the reason you took those lives, because you are human, and unless you’re a psychopath, this is not how you’re supposed to react.”
Alice went silent, slowly lowering her head and then she felt her heart pulsate again. It thumped and shook her entire body, reaching the core of her being.
She grabbed her chest. Why was this happening?
Now that Leo pointed it out. She clearly saw that it wasn’t normal. It was strange that she felt okay spilling blood and taking lives without hesitation. She killed… So many people, and unless they looked like the victims, she did not spare anyone or stop to ask if they were innocent.
If was like… She enjoyed killing them.
She suddenly gagged and covered her mouth. She… Enjoyed killing?
“It’s like you suddenly have the heart of a demon.” Leo suddenly said and Alice’s eyes widened.
“Wait, what are you…?” She raised her head to find Leo with an expression of anguish. Why was he looking at her with that expression?
She felt out of breath, out of wits, what could she say at this moment?
She had no excuse for her nonchalance towards killing. She had no excuse but yet… She couldn’t accept his words.
“I’m not a demon.” Alice barked at him as her eyes quivered. “How could you even say that? You know me best, yet you…”

“Yes, I know you best. And I know what you’re capable of, which is why I’m worried.” Leo said, reaching his hand towards her. He placed his hand on her forehead and said, “Alice, I think the demon side of the plant is affecting your human heart.”
After all, it had its root surrounding her heart and it looked like it was influencing her.
Alice went silent, clenching her fists.
“It makes you think taking a life is nothing, regardless of who it is.” He said and dropped his hands to her eyes, blocking her vision. “And that can cause a great deal of problems in the future.”
“So, what do I do?” Alice asked, “I can’t get rid of the plant.”
“Yes, you can’t.” Leo said and dropped his gaze. ‘And even if you do, it’s already activated your demon side. So, your half-demon side will still be active, and you just might be forced to think like a demon.’
“How do I get it under control then?”
“Refrain from killing.” Leo said, dropping his hand from her eyes. “If you need to kill someone, do not do it with your hands. Killing seems to quicken the growth of your demon side. And if you must kill… Have someone else do it for you.”
Alice’s mind immediately went straight to Micheal.
“But more than anything, do not stain your hands with human blood going forward. Try as hard as you can, Alice. If you kill anymore, I don’t know what will happen. You might end up losing your rationality.”
Alice gulped. So, it had come to this, huh?
Leo sighed and pushed her head to his shoulder.
“This is why I can’t leave you alone for a single second. Who knows what sort of thing you go on to her your hands on, Alice?” He said, stroking her hair and she bit her lips.
Just… How did she not know this? She hated that she was changing.
“I didn’t ask for this,” Alice muttered. “I just wanted to eat good food, sleep, and enjoy my life now that I’m free. I didn’t… Want to do any of this.”
“It’s okay,” he stroked her hair. “It’s okay. We’ll figure this out together, okay? So, don’t give up. We’ll get out of this mess and you won’t turn into a demon.”
She clutched his shirt desperately. She wanted him to promise her but she didn’t want to ask for the impossible.
Because of how the world was changing, there was no way to know for sure what would happen as time progressed.
“Just… Stay by my side, Leo.” She said. “If you’re by my side, I know I won’t fall out of line anymore since you’ll knock me back into the right line.”
“Yeah, I’ll knock you so hard that all you think of is how to go to bed.” He smiled softly at her and she smiled back, though it was forced since she was still worried. “Ah, speaking of bed,” he pulled her away from him and asked with his eyebrows furrowed. “Why were you both on the bed while you kissed? Did you plan to do something else?”
Alice darted her eyes away. What could she possibly do?
“Hey, don’t look away from me and answer. You know you’re a minor, so you can’t…”
Alice laughed, and he paused. Seeing her slightly, he could no longer stay mad at her. She was such a nutcase.
