Chapter 329: Then, do you deny being in the bathroom while she…?
Alice walked out of the bathroom feeling refreshed. Her skin was reformed, and she felt like a newborn baby again.
“So, this is what it feels like to be baptized of your sins. I feel great.” She was so bright that she completely ignored the fact that she was standing naked in the middle of her room with Leo in it.
“Just cover up already, sheesh!” Leo said as he threw a towel towards her and it fell on her face.
“Oh, right.” She said and took the towel off her face. She wrapped it around her chest and Leo shook his head whilst sighing.
She still lacked awareness.
“Anyway, I’ll be outside.” He said and then opened the door, only to find Mark about to knock.
Mark paused for a moment, his eyes falling on Leo’s, which had not returned back to normal. And for a moment, he stared at those unusually stary eyes and was taken aback.
Once again, he was reminded that this guy was not an Earthly being.
“Oh, is that Mark?” Alice asked, and Mark shifted his gaze from Leo to Alice, who had a towel wrapped around her chest while squeezing her hair with her hands. “Did you come to tell me that the food is ready?” She asked, and not giving him a chance to answer, she added, “Sorry to make you wait.” She started approaching. “I might’ve spent too much time in the bathroom with Leo cause of this secret stuff he wanted to do and…” Leo immediately covered her mouth.
He was so close to losing his mind that she did not know how to read the room and was only making matters worse by saying things that could very much cause a misunderstanding.
He sighed and looked up at Mark whose face had slightly contorted. He could see the ridges of his eyebrows folded and there was fire in his eyes.
“Secret stuff in the bathroom?” He asked, his hands clenched in fists. “While you were bathing?”
“Mm…mm.” she could not say a word since her mouth was covered by Leo. He wasn’t even going to let her speak any further.
She would only cause a misunderstanding that would lead to unnecessary drama.
“Whatever she said,” Leo began, his eyes fixed on Mark’s furious one. “Don’t interpret it in normal human sense.” He said. “You’ll only misunderstand.”
“I don’t see any other way around it.” Mark said, his eyes dark and Leo almost scoffed.
This was the same guy who took advantage of Alice’s willingness and kissed her so forcefully and strongly that she was out of breath and he legs caved in.
If he was going to be protective, he had to start with protecting Alice from himself.
Leo did not say anything else to him and looked down at Alice who was desperately trying to explain with what she thought was sign language.
Seriously, she was just moving her hands aimlessly. She did not know the first thing about sign language.
“Alice, I brought out your night clothes already,” he said and Alice glanced up at him. “Put that one after you’ve dried yourself up.”
She nodded and then he let go of her mouth.
“I’ll go down and set the table with Mark,” he said, pushing her gently back into the room and walking out. He closed the door, giving her no room for words, and then stood in front of Mark.
It was as if they were having a head-to-head confrontation with a pair of angry eyes and a pair of stary ones locked.
Leo was unbothered, staring at Mark who still had the pink apron around his neck and tied at the back of his waist.
“Like I said, whatever you’re thinking isn’t what happened. Alice likes to exaggerate things and make others misunderstand so…” He was about to walk away when Mark grabbed his arm.
“Then, do you deny being in the bathroom while she was naked?”
“No, I don’t.” Leo answered calmly, his eyes falling to Mark’s grip on his arm. “But I did not take a single look.”
“That’s bullshit.”
“Believe it or not.” Leo said calmly. “And besides, what difference does it make? In my eyes, she’s just a kid.” He shrugged Mark’s strong grip off and added. “Seeing her with or without clothes doesn’t make a difference to me.”

Mark stood there, frozen. What… What did he just say?
In his eyes… Alice was just a kid? It didn’t make a difference?
How the hell was he supposed to believe that blatant lie? The thought of him trying to undermine his intelligence infuriated him, but then he thought back to how he usually treated her.
He never treated her like she was a grown woman who needed respect. In fact, the way he took care of her was no different from how a parent would raise their child.
Keeping a close eye on them.
But how sure was he that Leo had never held such thoughts for Alice?
She had that slender and alluring body, those lips, and that face… How was a man able to resist such temptation?
‘Only those with ulterior motives would have such thoughts towards the ward they claim to care about.’ the words rang in his head and he began to rethink his whole action.
Then, did he feel something other than the strong responsibility to take care of her? Was that why he had this strong desire to possess her?
He covered his face, slowly trembling as he began to gradually realize that he might actually possess actual feelings for Alice, and the reason he was so possessive and jealous most times was that he wished she would pick him and him alone.
But… Wasn’t this a lot worse, finding out about his feelings? Alice would… Never accept his feelings.
Leo glanced up the stairs at Mark and then shook his head.
‘He better think wisely about this.’ he thought.
His ability to pry into the minds of anyone he wished without them noticing was very handy.
And most times, he’d like to see what the people who surround Alice thought of her. Now, he was going to use it to see if there was possibly any betrayal at play.
Because at the moment… He had begun to tread on thin ice. Especially after seeing that the future was not as peachy as he’d like it to be.
The title of ‘Last Man Standing’ still stuck to Alice’s system.
Alice got dressed and then walked out of her room. She let her hair fall and did not bother packing it up because she was suddenly feeling tired.
But she would not let it stop her from eating as much as she wanted.
“How can you let your hair down like this when you know you’re about to eat?” Leo asked her, touching her hair. “And you didn’t even dry it up completely.”
“Ugh, I feel sleepy.” She simply said and Leo realized the additional power she had gained from the boosted stats were catching up to her.
She would need to eat her fill and then sleep.
“I didn’t want to waste any more time.” She said and Leo sighed.
“Alright, just hold still.” He said and stood behind her. He used a little bit of wind magic to blow her hair in a certain range so it didn’t blow strands of her hair into the food or anywhere for that matter.
“That feels nice,” Alice moaned softly, closing her eyes in relaxation and Mark, watching this, clutched his fork tightly.
But he soon released his grip and said in a rational sense,
“Please refrain from doing something so unhygienic on the dining table.” He said and Leo glanced up at him.
‘He sure knows how to suppress his emotions. Maybe I’m worrying for nothing.’ he thought and stopped the wind.
“First, you used fire and now you’re using wind.” Alice said. “You gotta teach me how to use elemental magic one of these days,” she yawned.
“Yeah, one of these days.” He said and her eyes widened in surprise.
“For real? You’re going to teach me?” She asked and he nodded.
Originally, he wasn’t going to teach her but they were going to have to upper their game to make the unknown future look a bit bright. Because at the moment, it was so dull that he could not see anything.
Leo parked it into a rough bun, but even his rough bun looked quite smooth.
“Now, eat.” Leo said, sitting next to her and watching her as she said to Mark,
“Thank you for the food.” She smiled happily and started to dig in.
That happiness on her face when she ate to her heart’s content was just so satisfying to watch that Mark had forgotten a bit of his current predicament.
He glanced at Leo who did nothing but watch her intently as she ate. He really had no interest in her as a girl? It was a bit hard to believe, given Alice’s charms.
“Ah, Alice,” Mark called. “After dinner, just before you go to bed, I would like to speak to you for a minute or two.” He said. “And don’t worry, I won’t take your time so please,”
Alice paused for a moment and then after swallowing the food in her mouth, she said,
“Sure.”
