Chapter 330: Was that what you want to talk about?
After dinner, Alice joined the two guys to take the dishes to the kitchen.

“Great! Tomorrow is Sunday. I’ll sleep in.” She exclaimed, stretching her arms as she walked out of the kitchen. “I’d like to do the dishes but…”

“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.” Leo said, waving her off. “I’ll be done in a sec so you two go talk.” He glanced at Mark and then back to Alice. “I believe you’ll be done by the time I’m through with the dishes.”

“Oh, alright.” She said and turned to Mark. “Come on, let’s go talk.”

Mark nodded and walked behind Alice, briefly glancing at Leo, who paid no heed as he entered the kitchen, planning to do the dishes.

But he knew that even though Leo wasn’t going with them, he would be able to hear their conversation… Somehow.

He had no proof but he just knew it.

“Are you worried that Leo will eavesdrop?” Alice suddenly asked, startling Mark.

“How did you…?”

“Well, it says so all over your face.” She said, balancing her arms on the chair and resting her back. “But don’t worry, he won’t eavesdrop.”

“How can you trust him so confidently?” Mark asked. He was completely bewildered.

“Well,” she looked away for a moment and then turned back to him, smiling. “It’s cause he’s Leo.”

Mark gulped. There was a lump in his throat that refused to disappear even after he gulped so hard.

She trusted him because he was Leo? Was it because he was her familiar? Because she could read his mind as he could equally read hers?

He didn’t understand.

“Alright, enough with that,” Alice said, dismissing the confusion in the air. “What did you want to talk about?” She asked and Mark went silent.

He lowered his head, clenching his fists.

“The other day,” he began. “I took advantage of your willingness and kissed you like that.” He said. “It wasn’t right but I… I did it and didn’t look back after leaving you in that state. I… I’m sorry.”

After his words, he waited to hear what she had to say but she did not respond, causing him to wonder if she was mad about it.

But then, after the moment of silence, she finally said,

“Was that what you wanted to talk about?” She asked and he raised his head. “You looked so tensed that I thought you were going to announce the end of the world of something, haha.” She was so laid back.

“But this is serious. You might’ve not taken an offense to it but I knew what I did was wrong.”

“Which part of it was wrong?” Alice asked, catching him off guard. “Was it the fact that you asked before kissing me or that you took out whatever you were feeling on my lips?” She pressed her index finger on her bottom lip, sliding down softly, and said, “Whichever, I don’t think I need to get mad at any of it. You asked first plus, what you did that day helped sought out a certain predicament I was facing. So, if anything, I should thank you.”

Mark was stunned speechless. Just what was this?

He was starting to feel uneasy that Alice was so laid back about all of this. So, it was true when she said she didn’t have a problem kissing anyone of them who asked.

So, even when he kissed her so roughly, she did not get mad. She… Did not take offense because he, according to her, asked first.

He covered his mouth in shock.

No matter who it was she would do the same, was that it?

He gulped, feeling uneasy. The jealousy in his heart was slowly creeping to the surface and making it hard for him to breathe.

“So, is that all?” Alice asked as she yawned. “Or was there something else you wanted to talk about?”

Make gritted his teeth and just decided to speak his mind.

“Thank you, Alice, for not taking offense.” He said. “But can you be a little more cautious?”

“Huh?” She tilted her head. “Cautious?”

“You’re a girl and a very…” He gulped. “Alluring one at that. Men will covet you and try to claim you as theirs. There will be men who use your naivety against you and trap you. I… Am worried for your sake.”

“Hm, I don’t fully get it but it seems like you’re warning me about the kissing stuff.” She said, folding her arms and he flinched.

Since when did Alice become so smart?

“And yeah, I’ve had this conversation before.” She said, suddenly picking her ear. “I had it with Leo. He wouldn’t stop nagging me about it. He’s such a nag when it comes to things like this, telling me I have to take care of my body, mind who I kiss, and all that stuff. But it’s not as if I go around kissing just anyone.” She looked at Mark whose expression was suddenly slightly twisted.

It looked like he was suppressing something in those dark eyes of his and struggling expression.

He was gradually letting his aura leak out and he didn’t even know it. She sensed… Hostility.

“Do you have something to say, Mark?” She asked and he snapped out of it.

“What?” He asked, raising his head and found her staring seriously at her with her arms folded.

It looked like she suddenly gained a different personality like she was someone else. No, she was the same. It was just that… She was gauging him to see if he was someone she needed to put her guard up against after all.

“Do you hate Leo?” She asked. “Or do you hate that I like kissing other guys?” Her words were strong and heavy. It got him anxious. “Do you think you own me?” Mark gasped and immediately answered,

“No, no. I would never think that way!” He said. “I don’t own you and I would never… Never think of…” His words slowly faded and he paused. Wait, had he never entertained such thoughts before?

Maybe not exactly that thought but he couldn’t say he never had similar thoughts. He had actually thought of being Alice’s one and only but… He never thought of ‘owning’ her. He could never think of such a thing.

“Alice, I don’t deserve to have such thoughts.” He said and raised his gaze to meet hers, displaying honesty with his eyes. “I could never think of owning you. You are… Far too extraordinary for that.”

“Then, what made you rage?”
