Chapter 350: It’s sparking quite an argument
There was silence. Complete silence.
The eyes of the students on Alice were all widened in shock and disbelief. If anything, it was uncomfortable, and Alice had to avert her eyes, wondering why things weren’t playing out like they did in her head.
“Well, this isn’t the reaction I was expecting.” She muttered, handing her glasses over to Miss Stella.
Normally, they would be like, ‘whoa’, ‘so cool’, ‘you’re incredible’ or ‘I can’t believe someone wonderful was in our class this whole time’. They should be stricken by the awe of her magnifying self, but…
“Normal girl my ass. You’re that girl from the news.” Lance spoke up.
Well, at least they recognized her. She was starting to think the recent terrorist attack news made them all forget who their savior was.
“You’re that girl from the TV, aren’t you? The one who took down the eclipse dragon like she was patting pancakes.”
‘Pancakes?’ Alice thought, her mouth suddenly watering at the mention of pancakes. Now, she was hungry.
But that was certainly an odd way of explaining how she took down the dragon. It was hilarious.
“There’s no way you’re normal.” Lance folded his arms, his eyes piercing through her in a questioning gaze.
“It’s no wonder she’s so strong. So she was the one.”
They started murmuring amongst themselves, their whispers louder than a whistle and their curiosity sharper than a blade.
“So, we had such a big shot in our class the whole time. How did we not know?”
Alice’s ears perked up. Now, that was what she was waiting to hear.
“Must be thanks to those glasses she was wearing. Immediately she took it off, the appearance of her face became quite… clear. It must be an artifact.”
Alice scratched the back of her head. After the expected reaction, this was starting to feel like a pain in the ass. It was better to just get things over with at this point.
Her eyes landed on Clarissa, who was still struck with disbelief on her face, her lips pressed together as she could not even bring herself to speak.
Alice saw this, smirked, and then winked at her, passing on as awkward to Clarissa, who quickly bowed her head.
‘I guess now she’ll understand why I’m such a big shot.’ Alice thought and then cleared her throat. “Well, I guess I’m not ‘that’ kind of normal, but believe me, my vitals are all the same as yours, and I don’t have two lives either.” She stated plainly and darted her eyes away. ‘But I have loved twice, so…’ she cleared her throat. “In any case, I’m not an A-class awakened. I’m…”
“An S-class!” Someone suddenly yelled, but it sparked an argument, and a girl opposed his words.
“How can she be an S-class? She’s definitely more powerful than that brat that came in this morning. She’s an SS-class!”
So, an argument ensued in which they were trying to guess her class, but honestly, they could just ask her, couldn’t they?
‘It’s sparking quite an argument. This is annoying.’ Alice thought. ‘Guess secrets are kept for a reason.’
“That’s enough,” Miss Stella said, and her simple voice caused them all to quiet down immediately.
“You guys are just arguing with no reason. You should’ve just let me finish!” She said to them. “And both sides are wrong, by the way.” She folded her arms, sparking confusion in them. “I’m not an S-class and not an SS-class either. But I can’t tell you exactly what my class is ’cause it’s still a tightly locked secret from the higher-ups.” She unfolded her arms and clasped her hands together. “So, for the other things I’ve told you, I’m trusting you guys with my identity, so keep it a secret, will you? If this news spreads, I’ll kill you all without blinking an eye, okay?”
Though she was smiling, her threat was as clear as day. If anyone else had said something like that, they’d immediately accused them of talking big and bluff it out but not for Alice.
They had seen firsthand that she was more than capable of killing, and she definitely wouldn’t bat an eye. Not to a traitor, at least.
She would really kill them if they tried to spread the news, so they all decided to be one-minded and not try anything that would put the rest of them in danger.
“The whole world will know of my identity soon anyway,” Alice continued, gently swiping her hair over her ear. “They’ll know my identity, my class, and what I’m capable of, so just keep your mouths sealed for now. Is that clear?” She asked and they nodded.
When faced with power, they have no chance of retaliating and can only obey. It was like their necks were being threatened by invisible knives, ready to split their throat if they dared spill out the wrong words.

It was frightening and it made most of them gulp while breaking out in cold sweat. Just what kind of monster had they been learning with all this while?
“T-then, is that why Miss Stella thinks so highly of you?” Fae asked. “She was speaking for you earlier, trying to make a reason for your actions. It was very unlike her to speak for someone who almost committed murder.”
Alice scratched her cheek nervously.
“Well,” she dropped her hand and said, “I’ll be honest with you. When she said I didn’t grow up in homes like the rest of you, what she meant was…” She glanced at Damian. ‘There goes my plan of wanting to keep him in the dark.’
She thought and sighed.
“After the apocalypse broke out, I was taken in by a… What do you call it…?” She snapped her fingers. “Let’s use the word human traffickers.”
They gasped.
“So, I and more than a dozen other kids were captured. We thought we were finally safe from the monsters but who knew we were going into the den of people who were worse than monsters,” she shrugged her shoulders, trying to look like she was okay about it. “Well, it was hell. Complete hell and though I survived, many didn’t. There were a lot of things we had to do to make sure we lived to see another day. It was…” Her smile slowly fell crooked and her shoulders subconsciously trembled.
It was as if she was afraid but she had tossed it all in the past. She had tossed away her fears when she dealt with Big Stach, so why was her body reacting so badly to an old tale that couldn’t even harm her?
She shut her eyes.
‘Shit! I hate this.’ she thought.
Leo suddenly pushed his chair back with a loud screech that attracted all their attention, including Alice, who was forced to open her eyes. He got up, walked towards the front of the class, and stood behind Alice, dropping his hands on her shoulders.
It was a rather uncalled-for action. That is… What the students thought, thinking he was just showing off, but he knew and Alice knew as well… Even if she acted like it was fine and chested it, recounting those times was never easy.
And the worst part was that she couldn’t even cry to get rid of the burden in her heart. He felt for her.
“Wow, how’d you know my shoulders were cold?” Alice asked, looking up at him but he shook his head and said,
“I wonder.”
They thought they were just showing off their relationship, whatever it was but Alice dropped her head and continued,
“Anyway, I was able to get out of that madhouse after I awakened. It was a weird awakening, trust me. I didn’t even know I had awakened and a bunch of things happened thanks to it.” She let out a forced laugh.
She couldn’t recount the entire thing for them because most were still a state secret. And she would prefer if they didn’t even know that part.
“I saved a bunch of people, went into a few gates, and… Well, I met a bunch of nice people, so I hardly think back to those times when I had to suffer for scraps. So, when Miss Stella said I have the right to want what I like and get rid of what I don’t like, she meant it. In my case, I honestly don’t care what’s going on around me, or who talks shit about me, but there are certain lines that one shouldn’t cross.” Her smile fell, replaced with a heavy gaze that felt like she was glaring right into their souls.
She was expressing her disdain and giving out a clear warning to whoever still bore it in mind to make an enemy out of her.
“Elizabeth crossed that very line over and over a dozen times in a few sentences. I hate her kind so much, so I decided to get rid of her.” The heavy air disappeared as she smiled brightly again. “It’s too bad I couldn’t go through with it though. I’d be doing the world a favor if I…”
“Alice,” Miss Stella called, giving her that warning stare and Alice laughed.
“It’s just too bad.” She placed her hands on her hips. “But at least we won’t get to see the likes of her around here anymore since she couldn’t handle dropping her pride to apologize.”
