Chapter 351: So, a win-win
Though the air had cleared up, the students could not help but feel threatened and gulped down hard.
“I’m just trying to say that just as you guys have been minding your business and doing whatever you want around me till now, you can keep doing that. I will just do what I’ve been doing all along as well. I’ll sleep when I’m bored, walk around even when I feel even more bored, and eat when I’m hungry. We’re cool, so don’t look at me differently.”
“Ah, I understand.” Clarissa suddenly said, gripping her pen tightly.
Alice was confused. What did she understand? She had been silent all through, though.
Terrance raised his hand and said,
“We will keep your secret, Alice. I speak for myself, though.” He eyed the rest of the class. “Having a hidden ace up our sleeves will do us good for the sports event. So, I think it’s a good idea if we don’t spread the fact that we have a very strong individual in our midst.”
“But the other students already know.” Alice said.
“Don’t worry about that,” A boy sitting next to Terrance raised his hand. “Miss Stella, if you allow me, I’ll use my ability to make the others forget what they saw.”
“Andrew, you want to brainwash them?” Miss Stella asked, her eyebrows lightly creased.
The boy, Andrew, was an A-class awakened, a mage type, who had an innate skill that allowed him to brainwash any individual weaker than him.
And that skill did not come with any penalties or backlashes. So long as a stronger being did not try to force them to remember, they would be fine.
“Yes, there are no backlashes anyway, so I’ll just be done and over with it.” Andrew looked confident but he was probably just proud of his powers.
Miss Stella gave it a long thought and turned to Alice.
“What do you think? I don’t think it’s that necessary, but it’s your call.” She said.
“I’m fine with it.” Alice said but then Leo leaned down and whispered into her ear to her hearing alone.
Wait, why didn’t he just use their mind telepathy?
“Alice, for your safety, I think this is a good idea.” He said, gently swiping her hair back. “You know the demons are after you, so if we don’t leave a trail for them to follow, I think it’ll be fine.”
Alice cleared her throat and nodded.
“I understand,” she said and turned to Miss Stella who so much adored the sight of them being cute together.
But could they not do that in front of their class? Their attitude was terribly misleading.
“I guess the less people know, the more advantage we have.” Alice said, turning to the rest of the class. “If you feel you can’t keep it a secret, speak up so you can be brainwashed now. Because if you make that mistake of letting it slip,” her eyes turned dark. “I definitely won’t forgive you.”
They were all silent, meaning they were all confident about keeping the secret.
Well, it wasn’t that she trusted them. She just felt she could give them a ‘leg’.
It wasn’t like her secret was that much of a big deal, she just felt it was fun to threaten them to keep it. Plus, the less people bothered her, the more time she had to spend on herself.
So, a win-win.
“Alright then,” Alice clasped her hands together and then took her gasses from Miss Stella. “If that’s all, I guess we can–”
“I have a question,” Mirabelle suddenly spoke up.
She was a girl with thick and shining black hair, but she usually kept to herself. She was a B-class awakened. A healer just like Damian.
“Yes? Go ahead and ask. We’ve already spent quite some time here, so…”
“What’s your relationship with Leo?” She suddenly asked and Alice paused.

Gosh, she was getting that question a lot. What did they look like? Circus pairs? Wasn’t it obvious what their relationship was just by looking at them?
Mirabelle had asked that one question that all of them were secretly curious about. No matter how they looked at it, it always pointed to one answer, but then they would act in such rough ways that made everyone believe it wasn’t all lovey-dovey with them.
So, they wanted to hear it from the horse’s mouth.
“And what’s your relationship with Damian?” She added and Alice paused. “We’re all dying to know so please tell us.”
Alice stared at the eager gazes of the students and then at Miss Stella, who had averted her eyes. This was Alice’s own battle to fight.
Since Miss Stella wouldn’t help, she turned to Leo who also averted his eyes.
*Just do what you always do. Stop looking around for help.* He said to her through her mind and she sighed.
Guess it couldn’t be helped.
She put on her glasses and then clutched Leo’s arm, pressed her bosom to his arm, and smirked at the class.
“What do you think?” She asked, “What does it look like our relationship is? Come on, rake a guess. Take a guess. I’m already giving a hint as to how close we are.”
Leo sighed as he shook his head. She was giving the wrong hint.
“They’re definitely dating.” The class suddenly chorused and Alice’s eyes widened.
“What? What is wrong with your eyes?” She asked. “We’re not dating.” She said but did not let go of Leo.
“Then, are you betrothed?” Someone asked. “Because it looks to me that you guys are more intimate than friends.”
Alice went silent as those words slowly sunk into her head.
Leo stared at her. Did she finally get it? Her touchy attitude and how she liked to get very handsy was something one would only do with a lover. Friends don’t do those things together.
He’d like to explain it to her in words but she was so stubborn that she wouldn’t listen. He was also starting to believe the succubus trait growing in her was also to blame.
Succubus had eyes on men… And women included but thankfully, Alice was straight.
Anyway, the point is that… A succubus would want to get their hands on any man who looked like a treat. Whether it was to take vitality from them or just feel the arms of a man around them… A succubus was always ready to indulge.
In Alice’s case, it hadn’t gotten that far but if they didn’t try to tone it down now, she might just get corrupted by the energy spreading in her and instead of hunting for monsters… She would start hunting for men.
“Don’t worry,” Leo suddenly spoke up, placing his other hand on her head. “We’re not dating.” He said to the class. “That’s the last thing that could happen between us. And as for Damian…” He glanced towards the back of the class where Damian was seated. “There’s nothing like that with them either. Alice just… Likes getting handsy with the people she likes.” He scuffled her hair and dropped his hand.
“Then, what exactly is your relationship? You seem to put up with her a lot and you’re pretty strong too, right?” Mirabelle asked. “Are you some kind of bodyguard?”
“I wish,” Leo scoffed lightly. “But it’s something similar, I guess. I just…” He glanced down at her. “Watch her.”
There was a subtle confusion in the air, but judging by how softly he gazed at Alice, who still wouldn’t let go of his arm even in that misleading situation, they could tell he cared for her.
“Jeez, just go on and be a couple already.” Someone scoffed and the rest of the class laughed.
“Alright, let’s end things here for now,” Miss Stella said. “Andrew, come with me to the other classes.”
“Yes, teach.” Andrew got up with his hands tucked in his pocket, proudly walking past the front door after Miss Stella.
So, the kids were left alone and with no one in charge of them.
“Since there’s nothing else to say or do, I guess we can all go home now, right?” Alice asked turning to Clarissa. “What do you say, Class Rep?”
Clarissa shook her head and sighed.
“Yes, it’s time to head home. Get some rest and don’t practice too late because tomorrow is another day that we need to practice.” She got up from her seat. “I know I’m not the best, but I won’t take it lightly if our school doesn’t take first place, so you all better not lose. Got it?”
“Whoa, Clarissa is all fired up.” They laughed and Alice laughed as well.
Changing the sports event to an inter-school competition all of a sudden was the die-hard work of those old-timers.
They bragged about wanting to find raw gems among the glowing ones but they went back on their words just to get the strongest ones to compete against each other.
“Alright, everyone, let’s go home!” Alice cheered.
On their way out, Nicholas approached Alice.
“U-um, Alice,” he called and Alice turned around, her face lighting up as she came face to face with him.
His dull-looking appearance had never been any duller, and those bangs covering his eyes were still so cute.
“Nicolas, how’ve you been?” She asked.
“I-I’ve been f-fine,” he stuttered, his eyes trailing towards Leo and then Damian.
There were always so many wonderful and beautiful people around her. He wished he could be one of the most beautiful people. He wasn’t exactly a sight that was pleasing to look at, yet Alice always smiled so happily when she saw him.
It made his heart warm.
“I have…” He clutched his notebook. “S-something to show you.”
