Chapter 361: I was doing you a favor
Leo stared at his hand.

All he saw was his skin reddened from the burn, he did not feel the burn at all. Maybe because this physical body still hadn’t registered pain, but he doubted he’d feel pain even if his hand was cut off.

But it was strange how Alice’s attacks always had an impact. Maybe it was because his physical body was formed from her own constitution so if she inflicted pain, he would definitely feel it.

‘I should add a bit more cold water,’ he thought and that was how he adjusted the temperature to the point where he was confident he wouldn’t scald Alice.

He started filling the tub with that temperature and then took off the rubber ring holding Alice’s hair together.

He put shampoo on her head and started scrubbing softly and gently. He didn’t let the soap roll down so it wouldn’t get on her eyes and paid keen attention to that detail.

At this point, he already knew pretty much what to do to wash her and make her clean, so there was no need to wake her up, but along the line, just when he was about to rinse off her hair, Alice opened her eyes.

She found herself naked in a tub filled with water. Her eyelids were heavy, and she wanted to keep sleeping, but she was suddenly curious about the water she was submerged in.

Was she taking a bath earlier? When did she come to the bathroom to take a bath?

Did she fall asleep in the tub because the water felt nice?

She raised her hand and watched it dry up in an instant. Well, the water was still warm so she didn’t sleep long if she had come into the bathroom on her own, but that was if she had come in on her own.

There was someone else with her.

She raised her head and found Leo looking at her and wondering what she would say about this situation, but she did not say anything.

Rather, she stared at him for a while and then dropped her head, sighing.

“Is it morning already?” She asked but Leo shook his head and said,

“No,” he dropped his hand on her head and said, “Close your eyes.”

Alice followed his words and closed her eyes. He rinsed her hair thoroughly while she kept her mouth and eyes shut.

Once that was done, she asked,

“Why are you giving me a bath all of a sudden? Don’t you usually avoid looking at my body?” She turned around on the tub and folded her arms on the edge, resting her face on her folded arms and looking at him dreamily. “Something about it being courtesy?”

“I was doing you a favor,” He simply said but she felt it was something more than that.

“Well, you could’ve done me a favor and got me some food.” She answered and turned around, resting her head back on the edge. “I won’t die if I don’t take a bath before sleeping. But I’ll have double the appetite the next morning, so let’s fix that first.”

Leo listened to her words, and the corner of his lips slightly tilted up, but he tried not to give himself away.

He cleared his throat and took her hand.

“You’ll eat after your bath. Mark is in the kitchen.” He said and Alice closed her eyes.

Yeah, Mark would usually be in the kitchen during times like this. She would simply eat and go to sleep.

These were her thoughts but Alice had no idea what was waiting for her downstairs. She thought she would be having her regular meal, which she was always grateful for, but something more spectacular waited for her.

Leo took Alice’s hand and started scrubbing with a sponge gently but hard enough to get rid of any dirt on her.

“Leo, I was wondering,” Alice spoke up. “After the second calamity and the third, does it end there?”

Leo paused for a moment but then continued.

“I’m ashamed to say I don’t know.” He said. “We never got to open the chapter after you defeated Evil Eye, so I don’t know if there is something bigger waiting for you ahead. But know this, the perpetrator is still out there. Even after you end the calamities, you’d still need to face them.”

Alice thought about it. Sure, it wasn’t easy to save the world. One big bad guy after another, huh?

She glanced at Leo who was meticulously doing what he was doing and asked,

“Previously, you said you were at fault for something, and you’re attoning right now.” She brought up their last conversation. “Now, I’m not going to ask what you did or what your mistake was but… The perpetrator, is it your… Twin brother?”

“Alice, you’ve gotten quite smart.” Leo said over a pained smile.

Alice saw this smile and her heart broke for some reason. She looked away, pressing her hand on her chest.

This feeling… Why was he smiling so sadly?

“Well, obviously.”

And why was it hurting her heart so much? That smile… She hated it but she still wanted to act like she usually would.

“You’re the one who told me to start using my brain,” she said and smiled. “I’ve gotten quite smart,”

“Yeah, you have.” Leo answered. “Anyway, to answer your question, yes.”

“Wait, you mean he’s the one?”

“I can’t tell you too much because I think even this is too much for you.” He said, looking at the blood that was suddenly rolling down her left nostril.

Alice saw it and cleaned it with her hand.

“I’m fine, so just tell me something else that I can keep in mind.” She raised her head to avoid the blood from rolling down any further but he dropped her head and said,

“You’re supposed to bow your head and not push it back. If not, the blood will roll down your throat or back to your brain and cause a problem.”

“Oh, right.” She said. “But you have to tell me. First, I was surprised that you had a twin brother since Leo, in the constitution, doesn’t have a twin. If you were Gemini, I’d understand but you’re not. So, what’s this about your twin?”

“Alice, it’s not yet time to talk about this.” He said.

“Then when is it the right time?” Alice asked but he went silent, refusing to speak more.

His silence was infuriating but Alice could not exactly force him to speak, so she changed her question.

“Then tell me this, is your twin brother some sort of evil god?”
