Chapter 362: Did I… do something wrong?
“Then tell me this, is your twin brother some sort of evil god?”
Alice was impatiently waiting for a response but Leo rained water on her face, and then said,
“Just listen to yourself. Would a good god go as far as make humans suffer by opening gates and letting monsters swarm the Earth?” He asked and Alice gave it a thought.
“So, he’s an evil god then.”
Leo once again went silent, his eyes straying away from Alice’s line of sight.
“He… Is not a god.”
Alice’s eyebrows furrowed. She was confused. How was he not a god? Didn’t he say he was his twin brother? If Leo was a god then wasn’t he a god as well?
Or was it the case of reverse identities? Because Leo was a god, he had to be a devil. Was that it?
Leo suddenly flicked her forehead.
“Ouch,”
“Stop thinking too much. Your head is practically smoking.” He said and she pouted.
“Well, I wouldn’t need to think too much if you just tell me. I can handle it.” She said, pressing her hand confidently on her chest but he sighed.
“Say that again when you’re not floating in a tub that’s dyed with your blood.” He said and she looked down.
Her nose was bleeding profusely.
Leo looked at her and wondered how she didn’t even realize that she was having a serious nosebleed until she was told. How does she even breathe?
“Come, you’ll suffer anemia at this rate.” Leo said, holding her hand.
He lifted her from the tub and placed her under the shower.
“I’m fine, though,” Alice said, and he nodded.
“Sure, sure.”
After all, something as little as blood loss could not weaken the world’s strongest human. But he needed a reason to shut her up. The topic weighed on his heart, reminding him that the reason many people were dead today, the reason why the world was still fighting and more people were still dying was because of him.
Because he had been so stubborn and challenged everyone who told him that his decision would bring about misfortune in the future.
He had believed in his own belief and now this was where they ended up at.
Leo dropped a towel on Alice’s head and started heading for the door.
“If you’re done, come downstairs and have dinner.” He said to her but she grabbed his hand and looked at him with a confused and worried expression on her face.
“Did I… do something wrong?” She suddenly asked but it got him wondering why she suddenly had that thought.
Was it insecurity? Or could she feel the sudden unrest in his heart?
She pressed her lips together tightly so that they formed a thin line while looking him in the eye.
“You’re always doing the wrong things, dummy.” He said, once again flicking her forehead and she let go of his arm to console her aching forehead. “Stop overthinking things and hurry out. The food will get cold at this rate.”
“I got it, sheesh. You don’t have to flick me so hard.”
“If I don’t do it like that, it’ll feel like a light pinch, won’t it?” He smiled mockingly, and her head fumed.

“You…” But she let go, sighed, and started walking out. “Fine, I’ll just take this as my punishment since you don’t want to tell me what I did wrong.”
“Why are you so sure you did something wrong?” Leo asked and Alice stopped.
She was standing right next to him at the entrance and she turned around, her eyes gazing deeply into his and she said,
“Your eyes don’t lie.” With that, she walked out of the bathroom.
Leo’s heart thumped with a little excitement. He didn’t know why he suddenly felt excited but Alice’s words left a lasting impression. He could feel them so deeply.
She must’ve understood that something was bothering him after taking a glance at his eyes, so clearly that his entire being wanted to hail at her keen observation.
‘I never tell a lie, so when I don’t say the things that I can’t say, she simply looks into my eyes for answers. But is that enough?’ he wondered, brushing the back of his neck. ‘Do humans understand each other clearly with a mere glance at each other’s eyes? Is that how it works?’
Words that could not be said or better understood after being said were mostly better conveyed with the emotions that screamed out in one’s eyes.
“Help me cry my hair, Leo,” Alice asked after putting on her nightshirt.
He took the blow dryer and touched her wet hair.
“I’ll be quick,” he said, but she waved it off.
“Take your time,”
After that was done, Leo tied her hair into two pigtails, and she stood up, stretching her limbs.
“Boy, I’m beat.” She said. “Let’s go down for dinner. I want to sleep again.”
For someone who just woke up from a four-hour sleep, she still felt sleepy. Her sleep drive was insane.
As soon as Alice walked past her door, her nose caught the heavenly aroma from the kitchen, and before she even realized it, she leaped from the railing, forgetting the existence of the stairs, and landed on the down floor.
Leo saw this and sighed. That reaction was to be expected. He watched her rush towards the dining table with a sense of satisfaction filling him to the brim.
He didn’t get to apologize for not giving her time or talk about her nightmare but he was glad that she had gotten over it after a good sleep.
He hoped she would feel even better after eating the monster meat she so much loved.
He would like to see it, the excitement and joy plastered on her face but unfortunately… He looked at his disintegrating hand… He had used too much of his essence while preparing the monster meat so he’d need to rest for a while.
He hated that his physical body was still so weak to his actions. If only he could do all these things and not worry about disappearing…
“Hah,” he sighed with his eyes closed. “We still have a long way to go.”
Alice felt his presence disappear and glanced back.
“Leo?”
