Chapter 365: Only Leo knows the process
“Leo made jerky with a few of the monster meat just in case you complained. He said to be more thorough than careless when dealing with you, and now I see why.” Mark explained.
Alice gulped, trying to keep her saliva in her mouth this time.
“But… Didn’t you say I would end up sleeping if I ate the meat?”
“He said if you ate them all.” Mark said. “I’m thinking if you eat only a little, you’ll be fine.”
He was just speaking based on speculation, after all, Leo did not tell him all the details. It looked like he was in a rush when he made the jerky.
(Jerky is something similar to dried meat or bacon pressed flatly)
He probably didn’t believe Alice would pass on the opportunity to stuff her belly the previous night and this jerky was actually something she could munch on while they went about their activities in school.
But since it had come to this, Mark decided to call this breakfast.
“Wow, it smells so nice,” Miss Stella exclaimed. “Monster meat is said to contain a lot of resources but it’s too bad humans can’t eat it. If not, it’d boost one’s stats for sure.”
“Yeah,” Alice said, planning to stick one of the jerky in her mouth. “I took it before and that’s how I went through a body reformation.”
Their eyes widened.
“Was that why you suddenly grew taller and more…” Mark cleared his throat. “Feminine?”
“Well, yeah. It healed my scars too.” She said, finally aiming to put it in her salivating mouth.
“It has such properties?” Miss Stella asked, looking very excited. “That’s amazing. If this knowledge can be shared with the world, then…” She suddenly flinched, feeling a sharp gaze on her.
It was Alice. She had this fierce gaze in her eyes as she stared at Miss Stella. It looked like a warning.
“Only Leo knows the process.” She said, tearing her gaze away from Miss Stella. “And even if I knew it, I wouldn’t share it with the rest of the world. Call me selfish or greedy, but it’s better than sharing it to the world where there are even far more selfish people, thieves, and cruel monsters wearing the mask of a human. The world shouldn’t know that this exists.”
Miss Stella gulped and nodded. She gradually understood what she meant. Still, that gaze… It gave her goosebumps.
To think she’d get such a warning gaze from her own student. She had to be careful with her own thought process.
Alice finally took a bite of one of the jerky and her feet lifted off the ground. She felt like she was in heaven. The joy overflowed and flooded her entire body.
Now, this was the highest quality meat anyone could ever ask for.
“I want to stuff my mouth even more. Is… Is… Is this what they call love?”
Alice was glowing in mid-air after taking a bite, and the radiation she was giving off was just too pure.
“Hah, like they say, the way to a man’s heart is through their stomach.” Miss Stella exclaimed and laughed. “But Alice is in love with the food, rather than the cook himself. How ironic.”
Mark thought of this. If Alice was someone who would fall in love right off the bat just because she got fed to her fill, then he would’ve already been the love of her life.
But sadly, that was not the case.
If she did fall in love, it would be with the dish first and then the side dish. Oh, let’s not forget the dessert.
Only food had a way to Alice’s heart.
‘Well, this is a bit assuring.’ Mark thought, a sentimental look plastered on his face.
If she did not fall for anyone, it was better than her getting to choose one person in the end.
“Alice, that’s enough,” Miss Stella called out to her while she swarmed in the air as she ate her jerky. “You have to come down now. We need to get to school.”

“Ah, right. School.” Alice said and slowly lowered herself to the floor.
Her feet lightly and gently touched the ground before she laughed heartily,
“This is the best day of my life.” She exclaimed.
“Ah, at least live the day before you come to that conclusion,” Miss Stella said but Alice was laughing heartily away as she headed for the door.
“It’s fine, let her enjoy herself,” Mark said and followed after her.
It didn’t look like Alice had the midnight to share her jerky but Miss Stella was a bit curious. How would it taste like?
Was it like beef but with a more scrumptious taste?
She wasn’t a foodie or someone who took note of food as well as its ingredients, but she was rather curious.
“Well, forget it.” She murmured. “I think it would be better to keep living without the knowledge of its taste than to taste it now and wish for another bite another day.”
With that conclusion, she went after the two who had gone ahead.
They were using Mark’s car this time, and on their way, Alice savored each bite she took of her jerky. She looked so happy.
No wonder she declared this the happiest day of her life.
“Be careful not to choke, Alice.” Miss Stella warned. “Do you have water with you? Make sure to drink some.”
“Oh, right.” A water bottle appeared in Alice’s hand and she opened it.
Leo had stored about three water bottles in her space ring. She wasn’t the type to be out of breath or get excessive thirst, so he didn’t bother putting too much into it.
But in case she ever forgot to carry water along while she was eating, this would help out.
He always thought far ahead.
Alice drank her water and smacked her lips like someone who had gulped down a glass filled with booze.
“Hah, this is great.” She exclaimed, wiping her mouth with the back of her arm. “And I still have a lot left. I’m going to savor it.”
They both watched her from the rearview mirror and chuckled.
This was just Alice being Alice.
